  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
    We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
    Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

    If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
    Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
    If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
    RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

About the photorealistic discussion: A lot of people think this pack is meant to look photo realistic or like twillight princess (go to zeth's pack for that, if you want to see some textures out of place).
Well my account was always: stick to the original. I love OoT and have deep respect for its artists. I rather try to recreate the original than to start with a "I can do it better" attitude. I only use photos because its a quick way to get good results and it look more organic compared to some of the procedural produced textures many games use today. Still photos and "photo realistic" is not the same thing and its rarely enough to just put an photo on the texture.

...of course there are always exceptions.

@Chaos: I'm currently taking a look at your textures. Always interesting how different people work in photoshop. E.g. I rarely use adjustment layers, while you use them a lot. On the other hand you hardly use any blending effects which I use all the time.
I'll make some changes and send it back so you can have a look and tell me what you think.

OK I'm done with the square. I'll type in some annotations of what i did so you can you can comprehend what I changed and will upload it tomorrow.
The only mayer change was the underlying texture which I changed to a rug texture. I also added some subtle blending effects and changed some colors using the color overlay in the blending effects. Added an effect on the layer masks to make the edges seem more rough. At last I made some color adjustments to get closer to the original.
Everything else is unchanged or based on your original material.

From top down it looks really good.

project 64 works with the zelda dubug rom...1964 emu v 0.9.9 does not....DD?

BTW I do actually legally own the 2 roms (OoT normal, OoT master quest), as I have them all for Gamecube. :p

OK, so despite a number of getting-started-all-over-again-with-a-new-setup issues, I managed to (as promised) get a couple of textures done this weekend.

I decided to start on the outside of the temple--Zeckron did the Lake Hylia area quite some time ago (man, I miss him), but he didn't get a chance to do the entrance to the temple. And since it is the entrance, I feel obligated to bring it up to resolution to match everything else. So, without further ado, before & afters of the two missing textures (the tunnel (wall and floor were combined) and the gate (with added rust, since it's underwater--I think the original had rust on it, but it wasn't very clear whether or not that's right):

Looking at it carefully I think the lines need to be a bit more straight actually, what do you think DD? overall it needs a big tune-up, but it's a good base to work with

@chaos: Way to go!
Shapes are already good.
Just a few tips:
1. Use an underlying texture. Something subtle without too much shading. Maybe something like this: link

2. For the bevel rather use chisel than the smooth bevel mode.
The triforce stands out soo much. You could add an additional outer bevel to make it look like it is cased inside the shield

3. Add a gradient overlay maybe to the grey and yellow parts to make it look matallic/shiny

@Chaoszerox as i said before it is way to curvy and smooth, the original shield uses straight lines.

Should improve the accuracy of the lines, especially in these parts:

Although the colors of this are not entirely correct, and the Triforce is too narrow (like the triangle below) but still looks great. You should it do similar.

EDIT: That last picture is much better, continues to improve ;)

Did you make that? the file name is mine3best.jpg is why I'm asking? Do you have the png? or significantly better yet the PSD?!?!

If you were the artist who made it, I would only want to tweak your work to make it more like the original, and you would get all the credit diserved :)

Not, I did not do the texture, I found the image with Google:

But I downloaded the pack and unfortunately does not have that texture, has the shield of Twilight Princess.

The one that you are doing it is nice, only you must improve some things and it will be better than that of the image :)

Hey guys just found out about this project and hope to contribute. I hope to create some textures that will stay, but since im a noob i doubt it'll happen. Regardless, i will attempt.

PS. Is the first post about what is needed for retexturing accurate?

It's awesome to see all the progress made since I last checked in. Just wanted to say it is looking great as usual. Surely there is enough textures to add since V4.

Any chance on a new V5 pack being released soon?

try adjusting the angle of everything a bit more so it looks like it's being viewed from above in the center
