  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
    We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
    Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

    If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
    Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
    If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
    RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

Argh!!!! That stupid mask is giving me fits! I can't seem to come up with a decent way to emulate the original (mainly because I don't know what the original is, beyond the pattern).

Anyway, I'll be putting the mask on hold for a bit, while I finish up the rest of the fountain. Maybe someone can shoot a good idea my way in the meantime?

Edit--I just realized I pretty much repeated myself from before... Oh well. Call it a second call for help...

@Zeckron the metal grate passes on my side.
@dcs78 that defiantly does not look like what i was thinking about by stained glass i meant like the original texture. There was a very nice Gannon's tower retexture lying around would be awesome if someone could revamp them to a higher resolution here is the post with the download http://emutalk.net/showpost.php?p=272625&postcount=779 .
@chaoszerox the textures you made are looking really nice except the pebble stone like floor texture but then its your first version of it so I'll what untill you have done more work on it.
@Chieftain459 lewa never released his water temple textures if someone could email him and get the textures off him that would be great. Should also ask him to finish of the medallions.

@death--droid--certainly a nice set of base textures to work from. You're def right, some are fairly low-res. But these can be starters.

Sending lewa an email now...

Edit--shot the email, asked if he could finish the medallions or send a step-by-step of the process, and asked him to upload his water temple textures.

@Chaoszerox - sorry man, somehow I totally missed your retextured floor you made. I like it; except for the tiling problem. If you're using photoshop, that's an easy fix. Too easy in fact. Use the "offset" filter in the "other" section of the filter menu. Just make sure to do the math and set the X and Y offset values to half each of the original (so if it's a 512 X 1024 texture, you're offset values will be 256 X 512). Then grab your Healing Brush (my personal fav) and Clone Brush to fix the seams.

Cheiftain, about Jabu-Jabu. Thanks for the shout-out there sir, but honestly it's hard as heck to tell what type of material the original mask texture would be. Just thinking about Jabu-Jabu himself, and the Zora's culture, I honestly can't imagine the original concept was for the mask to be metal. I mean, he's a huge freaking beast. And even though he may be considered totally tame, and someone really *could* get him to relax long enough to place a huge heavy piece of metal up on his face, I just can't imagine the Zora's having the inclination nor the ability to forge such a metal monstrosity. Their culture is based from water, so their metal forging skills would really be crap. Only thing I could personally imagine that mask being would be some type of heavy fabric or canvas. Zoras wouldn't have the ability to make such a huge piece of metal.

On the flip side of the coin, is the argument that Jabu Jabu's mask was forged from metal BEFORE the Zoras culture became routed. Kind of like the huge stone wall of Helm's Deep in lord of the rings (the stones used in the wall were so large, that it seemed Gods carved and placed them, rather than mortals). So honestly, you've got either way to go here.

Those are just my own random thoughts :)

@Death--Droid: it's obvious whomever made those textures you referenced has skill. Some of them I like, but for the vast majority of them I honestly do not. The bricks in the first pic have way too much contrast from "fire light" to normal (not sure if that makes sense). The funky red stones in the other really remind me of the old Konami "bubble thing" that attacks you in all their games from contra, to gradius, lifeforce, etc etc. It just doesn't fit.

If someone is going to re-do Gannon's Castle (or any part of the game for that matter) they really need to be here with us, and need to work on the whole section themselves with uploaded screenshots for you and all of us to comment on.

(whew), I'm done bitching for the night; sorry!

EDIT: I'm looking at the megaton hammer and bow&arrow in that first screenie in the link you posted Double D. I don't remember seeing them. The megaton hammer looks absolutely amazing, and we really need that in the pack if we can get permission from the original artist. The bow&arrow looks good too, though I can't recall if the current pack version looks like that.

If I remember correctly it's in other temples as well. IDK if it uses the same filename for all of them....

textures is great but they need work.

@Zeckron--I was thinking the same thing about the cloth--the first version I did a while back was actually entirely based off a Navajo rug... and I agree that it should still be heavy cloth (metal IS way wrong) but I'm wondering how to pull it off... you think I should try something similar to my first attempt, but with a more detailed base texture?

Current pack actually doesn't look as good as it should. The ones in those screens look lots better now that you point it out Zeckron :happy:

This proved more useful than I thought, once I got around to doing it. I used the spot healing brush tool with many many short strokes and it came out perfectly! I also lightened it and lowered the saturation a bit to make it more like the original. I will go back into my old textures (I keep all my versions, every major change in psd just in case, I've learned long ago to do this for any serious work, over 800 MB in PSDs) tommorow and re-do the tiling (which I use to use the blur tool for) to make them better! :bouncy:

Lol, best I can tell, Jabu's a whale--as Zeckron pointed out, he's got a horizontal tail and such. Then again, I don't know too many whales with fish-like fins up near the top of their body... but I'm no zoologist. Anyway, yeah, we're moving away from the metal idea. Far, far away.

Edit--well, there was Jabun in Wind Waker... and I'm nowhere near convinced it's the same whale as in OOT. So, if Jabun is Jabu's descendant, then (logically), there must have been a Mrs. involved at some point. Or a local whale-whore :p

Ok in 1.2 I've replaced the current main logo with the one from federelli's pack since it is a hi-res version of the original logo.

@Chieftain - yeah man, the original mask you had made awhile back looked great. Just needed some of that ultra-fine detail work. I see no point in starting from scratch, cuz it looked good!

@Death--Droid - Love them. However, I thought Federlli refused to let his work be used in the community pack. I may have dreamed this up though....

??? Federelli hasn't being around for ages but I'll go look it up.
I know Xenobond doesn't want any of his work being shared around at all.
EDIT:
I couldn't find anything about Federelli's textures not being wanted to be used in another pack, someone else might want to check.

i've started work on the arrows and the bow. so far i've done the shaft and the feather and the thing im gonna have difficulty doing are the effects so ill leave those for now unless someone is willing to help. atm i havent got the bow but im using the dump that was uploaded earlier and i cant get the uploaded saves to work so i cant test them out in game :(
