What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
    We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
    Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

    If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
    Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
    If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
    RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

    I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

@chaoszerox:
I'm using anim8or now :D

@The Dave:
Lol! I tease, I tease.

I can definitely make it look better than that, but that was just a simple light source. And since I'm much more familiar with anim8or, and since it's an awesome modeller, I'll be able to do some decent stuff with it.
Is there ANYONE here that has ANY 3d experience?

Dayum... yeah, give him a ring-a-ding-ding (not literally... that would be weird--maybe a PM would be better).

As we all know, the weekend is upon us. I won't promise boat-loads of progress, but I can assure you all that I will be working steadily toward some sort of goal in the Water Temple. I just don't really know what goal that will be... yet...

Wow. That looks pretty well awesome.
I guess I'm capable of doing everything with the 3d scene. Just need to get off my butt (not literally, of course) and do it. Finding myself unmotivated as of late. I think my problem is that I ventured into other art forums, where there was not much artist support. But you guys are awesome :D Now I feel motivated.
Woo! Expect some updates.

@chaoszerox I don't like the new Version. It doesn't look like carvings anymore but like metal symbols nailed to the surface.

@Lewa can't wait for an update on it.
@Chaoszerox V2 is a lot better only problem is the carving seem to be more beveled out rather then carved into the rock.

@Chaos--the easiest way to fix what everyone is saying is to edit your "bevel and emboss" effects--there's a little spot near the middle of that window where you have the option of beveling up or down... really, all it does is reverse the direction of the light source, but that's all you need. Also, I think that all you need to do to match the contrast is to darken the wall behind the engravings a little.

uhm now you did lower the letters into the stone but the letters themselves still pop out. It's the letters themselves that are supposed to be carved into the stone so they should not pop out but sink in.

All you have to do is what chieftain said:

This time I used a pillow emboss. I don't think reversing it would work, but I could be wrong...

@Chieftain459 I really liked your work on the spirit symbols font. Do you think you could do a little more for me? Just 8 more and that will be all of the symbols. I really appreciate it man :bouncy:

All of these remaining fonts aren't in a carving, but they are on a big carpet in the middle of the raised floor of the final boss room

also the carpet's textures tiles strangely, these textures should be a challenge ;)
some screens for the heck of it:

@chaos--I wouldn't suggest using pillow emboss for the characters... it just doesn't seem right. Personally, I think just using chisel hard and changing the direction to "down" is all you need. I'll get on those characters as soon as I can.

Edit--I'm fairly certain I included most of these characters in the font you already have... try using numbers 1-6, and see what they match up to. If I'm not mistaken, 1-5 work for the texture that had several characters in it, and 6 was one of the single ones... let me know if this is right, and what characters you still need.

@chaos:
I HATE that kinda tiling! So aggrivating! Look bad in the original, looks even worse when you try to upgrade it.
Has anyone had any success with this wonderful origami tiling?

Oh, and I'm sure you'll do a good job. The other carpet looks amazing :)

This is what you wanted? For now ignore the white border and the incorrect coloring/brightness/saturation etc.

I used 'down' as you requested, and no pillow emboss. Personally I don't like it at all.

No, it's not what I had in mind... it's very frustrating to try to explain what I was thinking, it would be much easier to show you.

This is more what I had in mind... granted, it took more than just what I said. Honestly, you just have to play around with these things until it works. And not be afraid to experiment with things, like changing highlight/shadow colors, and just playing around with effects, whether or not it makes sense to do so. Believe it or not, there is an inner and outer glow on these characters which affects both color and depth.
