What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart

@chaos--I'm sorry, but I probably wont be able to deal with those symbols until Sunday. I'm out of town right now, and totally not prepared to do this sort of stuff until I get back home.

Edit--actually, I can get the symbols to you, just not in a font. Can I just send you PNGs of the symbols? I can make them some super-high res so that you never have to scale them up (no loss of quality). Or, if you have Illustrator, I can just send you the vector files. Either way, I've got the symbols made--let me know what format you want them in, and we'll go from there.

Thanks man!!!!!!:bouncy: =] I have Illustrator so I'll take the vectors.

I was just working on this:

P.S. I'm really starting to wonder what these symbols mean :O

OK, here's the files:

Also, I want to re-address a concern that I think lewa had--the characters in your textures thus far seem too... smooth. I think that if these textures were actually woven into a rug like this they would be a little more blocked-off... almost like they were pixelated... I'm not entirely sure how best to go about that. Off the top of my head, I might suggest placing the textures in to a different document, where you adjust the resolution to a point where the individuals are fairly distinguishable... then use the symbols in that state for the carpet, and see what happens.

Yeah. Or somehow distort the edges so that it's more random and carpet-like. It is a really old carpet, so it probably will be kinda pixelated. But we gotta give the shapes a carpet-like edge somehow. Maybe apply a brushstroke filter, then carpetize it? Anything to roughen up the edges.

Nice work though :) Especially on the edges of the rug!

Haha, well I haven't been doing any texturing lately, but I hope my feedback is at least helpful :D

Well I'm not dead. I always check the thread at least once a day ALWAYS. The past few days I've just been too busy to do any work on the project. I might be able to do some work today.

I'd like to see some screenshots of Shadow Temple stef! =)

In my defense, the list I created a while back (see Completed/Partially Completed Areas list in post #1) listed Kakariko Village as "P" for partial, and said that "Stair sides, bottom of well, some bricks, roofs, signs" all needed to be done ;)... and that was just what I happened to notice. There may be other stuff missing as well.

That said, I haven't been able to do much of anything recently. My boss said sometime last week that things should slow down fairly soon, and stay that way through the holidays... so maybe I'll be able to knock some stuff out then. For now, the Water Temple is still in very early stages, with only a few textures done since the last time I posted screenshots. I have made corrections to other textures, but I'm not prepared to do another batch of screens just yet.

I'm like chaos, though--I do check this thread daily multiple times, so I can at least provide feedback, even if I myself can't produce anything ATM.

Yay!
I have windows 7 now, and I actually installed my graphics card drivers this time (shut up!). Now I'm not having graphics errors :D

I guess my next difficult texture would be the 'Din's Fire' and company. But I got this

Guys I just joined this forum to show my appreciation for this whole project. I think its an incredible idea and the quality of the work I've seen so far is astounding!

Really keep it up, wish I could help but I could never match the standard thats been set.

Cant wait till its finished!

@Dragondex--to be honest, I think most of us will attest to this project being more of a learning experience than anything! We're all very proud of the results we've achieved, but I'm confident that if anyone was willing to try to retexture some small area in the game (which there are still plenty of), they would find that it's really not that difficult to do, and the community is a GREAT resource for help with any issues that do come up.

That's how I got my start here--granted, I don't think there are many people still around that were working on this project when I started--but the community has grown (significantly) and we're always around to offer opinions and support.

Speaking of other people, anyone heard from Zeckron? I don't think he's posted in a LONG time... I think he mentioned that work would be come increasingly busy for him, but I had hoped he would say a quick "hi" at some point... hope he's OK.

Also, Win7 rocks! I've been using the RC for months now, and really enjoy it (especially over Vista :p). If the install process is the same now as it was for the RC, it shouldn't take any time at all. I've got a licensed version of the final product now, but I'm waiting to install it until I've got time to back up the CRAPLOAD of files I've got on here (since there's no way to simply "upgrade" the release candidate to the final build).

@ geohound we're on v3.2 at the moment although there is a list on the fist page showing what's done, what isn't and if it isn't then whats left to do so check the list for and idea of how far we are into the game

edit: cheiftain, when i did a clean install over vista it automaticaly backed up all my files and ive heard that a clean install is quicker (only from what i've heard) so i wonder if it backs up your files if you install over the RC version like it does with previous operating systems. if it does then im sure it'll save people alot of time

The 1.x patches in the first post (under the v3.0 download) apply to v3.

So, in other words, download v3, extract those files to your plugin/hires folder, then add the files from the 1.x patches to that folder as well. Files with the same name should be replaced (the patches may contain newer versions).

Edit @steftheserb--interesting to note... I'll have to look into that. I really could use some time-savers right about now. Too busy for my own good!
