  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

A few pages back there was an arguement about how to organised the packs and updates and i dont remember anything being decided, so i have thought of an idea that might work. My idea is that when a pack gets released then it's version "x" then updates become "x.x" if you get what i mean, but updates have to be downloaded and added on to the pack instead of being treated as separate packs. Another part of keeping it organised is that updates should be sent to someone like death-droid to be posted then he can piece together the pack and updates to make the next pack.

@ steftheserb: Good idea. I think that's exactly how we/they decided on doing it, actually.

@ everyone else: Glad you like my work. I know at the moment, the metallic looking ones don't look quite right. I'm curious to see if squall is right - I'll see how it looks on federelli's background :p And about the shading at the bottom, I think the problem is that there isn't enough shading, so when I use the gradient map it just looks flat.

I'm definitely taking all comments into consideration. I don't want to make this a bigger issue than it needs to be, but I think that the appearance of the medallions is important. WHile the light medallion is easier to see at the moment, I do agree that it looks like plastic. I'll keep working at it.

Well, squall is definitely right.
But the medallions do need a bit more visual contrast. I created style that's somewhat in the middle:

Here's another option:

And just for fun, we can always make it super metallic:

Although I haven't achieved it yet, I think I'm closing in on the perfect style.

Just as a reminder to myself: The first one is merged and blurred before second gradient mapping. In the second, the components are double-mapped individually. The third is like the second, but is blurred and mapped once more.

lewa i really like your work and i think that out of all of the medallions that you have made i think that that one is best as you can still see the details and shadows

oh i didnt realise. i think the middle one is the best of those three. i remember that those first ones stuck out like a sore thumb lol and you couldnt see much of the details but these are amazing

The first one looks shinier and more like a light medallion. It almost seems to glow a little. The middle one looks a little pale and almost seems like it has more of a matte finish.

I like the first one.

Second is too pale.

I don't think there's enough detail in the third (it would be hard to see what the symbol is at its final size in-game).

So, yeah, first one ftw.

btw, lewa, could you double check that I named the symbols correctly... I think I got them right, but light and shadow may be reversed... I'm not positive. The rest were fairly obvious.

Mmk, the first one seems to be favorite. I'll crank out the three I have (light, forest, fire).

@Chieftan: You named them right. If we have some terrible mixup, hue shift will save us in the end :D

Forest Temple - First Screenshots

Excellent work on those medallions Lewa, I'm loving the first one! Looks like pure 24karat gold :)

Working very slowly and methodically on the Forest Temple. Definitely taking my time here, but it's soooo worth it!

Welcome to the jungle...... :)

Zeckron Looks very good nothing that i can really put it down on.

Thanks Death--Droid! That's gotta be a first :)

@Toasty you're right on both accounts. About the brick, I bumped up the moss and lichen 'factor' to make a big impact. The whole, 'welcome to the jungle' thing. After all, this is the first room in the temple so it really sets the tone for the rest of the experience. Same thing with the tree, it's a tropical tree bark (i have no idea what the species, perhaps Chieftain could tell us). The detail on it is amazing, and the game actually treats if fairly kind by not overlapping the texture too much and stretching it only when necessary. Very happy about that, b/c the game is not so kind with other textures, most notably the dang vines. Spent hours trying to come up with good ones for all 3 versions the game uses.

Moving down the hall....

One of the most technically complicated textures I've ever done...

Any objections to having the rails covered with a vine instead of hanging moss? I tried 5 different variations with moss. Just can't get realistic moss tendrils here, especially without them looking very repeated since it's tiled over and over so many times and so close together.
