  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart

Nice work on those wings Zecron not so sure about the light balls.
My favorite ones would have to be "Luna Moth Queen" or "Butterfly Princess"

Also good luck Chieftain459 on those inventory textures.

Actually it's not as much of a pain in the ass as I originally thought. I've got a 100% complete file, and I'm just running through it and looking at all the areas within all the areas within all the areas and writing down what I see. I'm probably quarter to half-way done already, and I just started this afternoon. Should have the list made by tomorrow afternoon, then I'll type it up and post the results.

OK, I lied. I've got the inventory done, handwritten. I'm going to start typing now, shouldn't take too long... update shortly.

Any thoughts?

The Great Gunblade Wielder
Personally... i think this is one of the cases where the HRT should be modified in a way that makes it blend better with the local surroundings.

I think it's a start, but one of 2 things needs to happen: either the rest of the textures need to be done so that it all looks similar (right now the new texture stands out too much) or the new texture needs to be toned down to match the older textures.

Also, the texture right below her belt should be different--it's supposed to be like broken stone. The one you used looks like the same sand texture. Just throwin' that out there.

Chieftain, no prob with those textures. You want them all in one dumped folder or seperated out?

Footnote about the stone wall. Honestly I'm going to scrap it and I think you shouldn't worry about it, here's why: that old Rice plugin I was using limits you to 4X resolutions. The stuff I was working on at the time were very small sprites, so it didn't cause an issue. I ran into the problem when working on large textures such as the wall.

So my original stone texture is only 4X, and the base photo I worked from was also relatively small. We won't be able to squeeze anymore out of this one and really it should be at least 8X.

So I'm scrapping it and will find another. You can still have it if you want, but I see absolutely no point in trying to fix it.

Along the lines of textures being used in many places throughout the world, here's a prime example. The wood logs used as the door frame and also the old logs in the water of the fish pond:

I happened by chance to notice that those logs are used heavily in the Gerudo Fortress. Tables, chairs, rafters, etc. It's used everywhere. And that's just the Gerudo Fortress that I happened to accidentally notice. So it could be used many more places.

Nevermind about the wood. It's something can wait for--I kinda want to wait and see the whole fish pond all at once. Not a big deal.

Yeah, the other wood texture from the rafters and counter gets used a lot, too, I think... It looks like the whole windmill hut and the tower in Lon Lon ranch use that texture. Anyway, keep up the awesome work.

I'm off to Zora Domain. Yay.

Thanks Chieftain.

Hey one more quick question before you get too buried in your work.

Having issues with lighting effects. Game seems to cast funky light spots all around. With the stock textures it's noticeable and works well. With new textures it's causing me issues.

Bottom of the screen is close to the base color. You can see at the top the game really bumps the gamma or whatever. Very annoying, any way to get around this? Does the game do this by using a seperate texture as an overlay to give some contrast? Or is it hard-coded?

Oops, too late. Sorry. Anyway, honestly I can't say for certain what that is... there is certainly the possibility that it is a factor of in-game lighting, which can't be modified (without a lot of hard work that's just not worth it). Or it could be an overlay texture. If that's the case, you may find it in the ci_by_rgb folder. Here's the trick: does the light move? If so, it's more likely a texture. OR, it could be an issue with your emulator... you've been having lighting issues in the past, right?

Another option: Try using a more course texture--it may not be exactly true to the original, but something with tiny pebbles (in a sand color) may work better with the differentiated lighting. Or I could be completely wrong.

Thanks for the info Chieftain, i'll play around with it some more and let ya know.

I'm thinking it's an overlay rather than an error or hard-coded lighting. At least that's my hope.

*EDIT*: Found it. It's an overlay. 2 files of course (just like everything else). One in the png_all and other in the png_by_rbg_a. Wonder if this is used in other places of the game?

I agree, making something high resolution isn't always better if the artwork itself doesn't fit with the surroundings. Great game thougth and when you are done I might try it :p

Retexturing seems like a lot of hard work but take Djipis's pack, it's very good and what makes it good is that it's consistent in style and artistery, kind of not makes sense to have an unconsistent celshaded pack though :p

Keep up the good work!
