What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

@craig: My question was about HOW you are going to edit them. Cause if you just use some filters, you wouldnt have to put the pieces together - just filter each piece.
I was planing on replaces the wood texture with my own and than try and trace some of the cartoony parts with Illustrator and see where things go.

Here's an example:

New(still need some work but you get the idea ;))

Hm, that could work out quite ok. It actually looks good in this screen.
Guess it's a good compromise. Still I really would like to have a real rendered result.

Well once I can get all the tiles in a panoramic view than it'll be a lot easier, but I have to have them in the same window or else the tiles may not fit together

Well I don't have time to do it for you - but I'll write a tutorial on how to do it.
To give you a little update:

Kakariko Village and the Graveyard wil be the last textures released (at least in 2009)

after that I'll focus on tutorials.
If someone wonders how a specific texture was made - just post it and I'll do a tutorial.

Okay, I only needed an answer

It's possible without one but it takes much longer.

Well you don't need a gfx tablett for realistic textures like in Zelda ;)

The Great Gunblade Wielder
what OS were you designing these for?

the alpha pack contains several textures with the same name only the casing is different. Windows does not support that.

for instance

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA#0C2E0585#0#2_all.png 89,518 19/01/2009 09:39p -a--
THE LEGEND OF ZELDA#0C2E0585#0#2_all.png 90,384 19/01/2009 09:43p -a--

Has anyone done hi-res versions of the English textures?

If not, you're more than welcome to include the textures that I submitted for Djipi's pack.

these files are meant for windows
i had some trouble with the filesystem, so the weird names may come from this.

Interested

Hey guys, I just found out about this project, and I'm interested in giving a hand. Both on this and on a Majora's Mask project (you would think some of the textures would overlap the two games). Couple questions:
1. Mode7: How much longer before you leave for Africa? Pretty soon at this point, right?
2. Is there a recent list of what areas have been worked on, finished, need finishing, or haven't been started yet?
3. I'm experienced in Photoshop (I'm a professional graphics and production artist), but I have absolutely no experience with dealing with textures from ROMs. I have read the tutorials Mode7 made, but I still have questions--I suppose I'll start by getting an emu (suggestions on how to set everything up?) and loading all the retexturing files I can find, and go from there.

Hopefully, I can count on someone around here for support--I really want to add to the project, but I'm afraid I won't be able to figure things out on my own.

Thanks guys.

@squall: Are you talking about the comic eyes or the ones made from photos?
I did the later but i didn't think I released them, as they were for experimenting purposes only.

Hi Chieftain
1. A few weeks and many things to organize - not much time. Kakariko and the Graveyard will be out. And I hope I will get a few tutorials done until then too.

Again: If any of you want to know how to do a certain texture - just ask and I'll do a tutorial

2. http://www.n64redux.com/content/ocarina-time-community-retexture-project
look at the overview section - basically all dungeons except the deku tree need to be done.

3. There is a pretty basic tutorial I wrote some time ago on how to do it.
http://iustrings.com/n64tex/doku.php?id=general_questions#how_do_i_use_packs

If you have further Questions just ask.
For the newest version if the rice Plugin go here:
http://www.n64redux.com/node/25

I'm very excited to have someone working on this with professional experience, so If there is anything I could help you with - just ask!

@squall--yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. I guess I can look for all the common textures between the games at some point. Need to play Majoras Mask through anyway.

@mode7--thanks for the info. I guess I'll start tackling the dungeons in play order (Dodongo, Jabu Jabu, and so on). I figure it will take me a while to get the first one out, since I'll be figuring things out as I go, but we'll see how it goes.

Thanks for the support so far. Looking forward to the Kakariko and Graveyard updates. Everything so far has been stellar.
