What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

Thanks for the compliments guys.
Thinking ahead a little--what on earth are the textures inside Jabu Jabu? I thought maybe muscles, but that's not quite right... since I'm not sure what the wall and floor textures are, I'm going to have a hard time making hi-res versions. Suggestions, anyone? Or should I just go with my gut and make the color match?

Yeah Jabu-Jabu also gave me quite a headache. The walls look a bit like gastric mucosa. But I have really no idea what it is meant to be and I don't think nintendo had any. So I think anything flesh and guts like will be fine. The plastzic wrap filter could also help making it look more moist and slimy.

The problem is finding apropriate photo sources and textures....

Edit: I typed 'raw meat' into stock xchng and got some usable sources.
I used imagesynth2 to do a nice texture:

Just a Jupi.
I haven't tried it in the environment as-is, but it looks too heavy in contrast while being too sharp in detail to make an effective flesh wall texture in the same vein as the original. I'd say just mute it out with a layer of pink averaged from the texture and it would be a thousand times better.

Not finalized, but illustrates my point:

@Jupiter--honestly, I disagree. Compared with the current textures from the game, it looks like (if anything) there should be more contrast, and a wet/glossy appearance to the texture. That's just my opinion, though.

Well actually, this is what I call as base texure. I just thought it might fit - of course it has to be edited. I don't have any dumped textures from jabu jabu's belly anyway yet

Anyway, since I'm not to Jabu Jabu yet, I've got an issue still dumping some textures. I'm trying to replace one of the textures in Dodongo Cavern, but it apparently is one of those textures with multiple addresses... I have one address, but I can't dump the second one... it's very frustrating, and I really want it to work... anyone know what I'm doing wrong here?

Updates!! First, figured out the thing with dumping textures... all's good. With that out of the way, on to bigger news:

DODONGO'S CAVERN IS DONE!!!! I'm actually quite pleased with the results, but it's not exactly up to me to decide--so here's the link to the texture pack:

https://www.qdrive.net/download/sha...13388&key=F7EgD2rdJvIXHxOmX5M3LxKhB3AjPxOhN5t

Give it a shot, see what you think--I can always edit it later... except the lava. Especially the lava in the boss room--there's over 200 files for the lava, then another 100 for when the lava cools after the boss dies.

@Mode: if you don't mind taking some screen shots for me again, that would be great. Sometime, let me know how you post them in messages like that, so I can do it from now on.

That link is just spinning chieftain.

Hey btw you're doing great work here. I'm really glad to see another texturer with talent come in and take over the mantle. Losing mode7 is going to be a big loss, he was one of the best.

I signed up to this forum so I could post in this thread. I love OOT, it's my favourite game of all time and I have so much respect and gratitude to all of you who are keeping the dream alive and providing high resolution textures. Fantastic job.

I have a fairly powerful webserver that I will be happy to share to a few of you to host your stuff.

Now here is my noob question. Is there a download of the latest high resolution pack? I have a file from late 2008 but quite a few dungouns are missing. Chieftain do your texture packs include everything or just your latest work?

Thanks everyone!

Chieftan's pack just includes his work.
Most of mode7's stuff is also missing and the textures i made need redoing if i ever be bothered to do it.

EDIT:
Chieftain459 do you mind uploading you stuff to something like mediafire.com
qDrive doesn't load for me.
Also to put images in posts you need to first upload the image to a image hosting website then copy the link to the image and put it in the
tags

I'm not currently at home, but I'm very looking forward to see your latest work.
Of course it will include screenshots.

A message to neslot and all other users asking about downloads and installation on youtube n64redux and here:

I will release kind of a status quo Community Pack right before I leave.
It will include all textures up to date and will have an installer. If its alright with chieftain, It will also include his work.
This will make the alpha pack and all other packs obsolete.

If you can't wait you can also go to http://n64redux.com

Ok now, I've seen it Ingame!

Most of this stuff is great. Some textures are even amazing.
It's unbelievable how fast you did all this. And with basically no experience with textures.

There are some bits I'd do different and some textures I wouldn't have used, but I'm not going to get specific cause you seem to be on a run.

I like to do that too: Rush through the areas an do as much as possible. After that you can always go back and polish and fix some stuff. You're earning expirience on the way anyway!

Keep it up!

Looks great Chief. Like mode touched on, there are a few textures that seem out of place. Great stuff though, keep them coming.

If you can give me specifics, I can work on them. I want this to be good, so please, let me know what needs fixing.

Wow, that is looking amazing, only the last picture could be a bit darker.

Yes, I thought that too, but that's the in-game lighting at work... not sure if/how I can adjust that.
