What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

yeah and he meant 1.6 so I'm sorry.
But ATM it costs money - i think it's weird to make a pack for something you have to pay for.
And it's been donationware for more than a year.

Clock

I made a little clock that may be of use. Here is a screenshot and the texture itself.

Yes, this is true, and a valid point.
But still a very far cry from 'commercial'. ;)

@shevek: hey nice clock, i like it.
@pyromanic: it's not commercial because i don't think he's making a profit with it...well he is probably but only to be compensated for the time he spends....well that IS kind of commercial...

oh noez, speculation!

It is commercial, but only because of the 1.7 beta download thingamajig at the website,

Okay added a download for Hyrule Castle - head over to http://www.n64redux.com.

I need your help, I'm working on Kakariko Village and I created two versions of the wall, one based on a photo the old one and a new one which is which si created in Photoshop. I can't really decide which one is better can you give me some feedback.

old one

new one

Jupiter

Just a Jupi.
As a texture for that particular environment, I prefer the new one. However, I would only keep the new one if you made the exterior walls of the houses share a similar uniform precision texture.

In other words, if you touch nothing else in the scene, the old one wins.

The new texture, much as I prefer it, is a little too incongruous with the other masonry work in the village. Really, the only texture that meshes well with the new is that of the stairs. Conversely, the only texture that does not fit seamlessly with the old texture is that of the stairs, but I'd be content to ignore that.

Honestly I'd stick with the old style for the walls...for the simple reason being that it fits in better with the area style.....I think the new wall is far too clean I mean this is Kakariko Village not the Hyrule Castle or Temple Of Time, for that reason I feel the old worn brickwork wall works much better for the small village. :)

If possible I'd be tempted to even shade the stone steps a little so they look a little more worn....possibly even add sprouts of grass growth on them to make them look more organic and believable.

Same opinion as Thommo here, the old wall suits the environment way better than the new one. The only thing that could be improved are the green grass borders of the old texture, the new ones look slightly better imo.

Thanks everyone for the advice and i think you are right. It's just if you spend much time with one texture it's hard to admit it does not fit.
I will redo the old one with nicer grass and try to make it tile a bit more regular.
@thommO: I'll see what i can do, though i dont think it will be able to add nice random details on a texture that tiles so much.

Hello

I did all the skies as I promised long ago.
This was far more work than I expected since they consist of over 450 textures. But it was worth it!
Special thanks go out to microdev for his HiRes-Easer tool.

They are rendered and therefore aligned, so the transitions are really nice to watch.
The resolution is 4096x512 without the top (which is additionally 1024x1024).
So you will need A LOT of Vram (Maybe I'll do a smaller version).

Is there a way to use DXT texture compression with rice? I think this would improve performance a lot.

I consider this as a standalone release for the community project - though I'm working on Zelda atm just for fun.

Concerning Mario: It's not death but I can't be bothered working on it right now.
