Is Pj64 fast enough?

Pretty much everything runs at a goood clip for me except Pokemon Snap. I'm lucky to get 8 fps. Is there any way to fix this?

have you changed the rom settings at all?

Smiff, I've found that Project64 1.6 often crashes when state-loading. With Diddy Kong Racing, for example, this seems to occur when I state-save in the middle of a race. It also sometimes crashes when I try to exit or when I start a game.

would this happen to be while your full screen?

The emulator is fast enough for me. On "default" settings my computer crunches out more frames per second than I would ever need. With rice's graphics plugin, some high res textures, high resolution and a whole lot of smoothing going on the emulator runs right on par without compromising fps.

P64 seems pretty fast to me concidering what it is doing. It has run fine on most 2Ghz or higher machines with a reason video card (Radeon 9000 class or better). Most MODERN budget cards are enough with room to spare and the intel GMA900/950 video seems to be ALMOST enough to be fast enough. An optimimally configured PC should be fine on GMA, believe it or not. I'd like to see more wiggle room though, as almost no one has an optimally configured comp.

Fast enough? XD HECK NO! Just look at my profile and look and my computer's specs to see why :p 99% of everyone tells me to get a new computer. WELL GUESS WHAT! I'm the only one in my family that actually wants another computer cause for what they do, the crappy processors actually work fine. (internet browsing, disk burning, e-mail, word processing, photo arranging, listening to music)

Your computer(s) are way outdated. Either upgrade or try 1964.

Actually, I do use 1964, and I actually get 60 FPS with the frame skip! Of course, it'll skip around at times, but I still prefer PJ64's graphic and imput plugins - hence why I still care about PJ64. My graphic's card seems to have issues with Rice's Video plugin... but just some minor graphical error with jabos. :D

?????????????????????????
All plugins are interchangeable. Which means that you can copy or move jabo's plugins from Pj64 to 1964 if you desire. That way you don't need to use Rice's plugin, if you don't want, with 1964.

Yeah, I know. That's why I said I still cared about PJ64, for its great plug-ins. It's not like I'm new to this emulation thing >_>

well i have a problem with speed. my pc is a dell optiplex with a 900mhz celeron and 512mb ram and over the years i have had ati radeon 32,64,128, mb vid card. i have the 128 now. it has always been kinda slow for me. some games like doom 64 runs great and the game i like to play the most rush 2 is so so. besides those. most games run so bad i just dont want to play them. maybe im doin somthing wrong with the plug ins? what plug ins are you all usin? it would be cool if you didnt have to use them. why do you have to have these plug ins anyway?
oh this is off topic but is there a way to use the mouse and keybord with doom so i can play it like a pc game that would be so cool. :)

Use the N-Rage Input plugin.

I have a question, is it possible to make the emu run games not faster, but at better fps than the console itself? I mean, PJ64 runs at perfect 100% speed in almost all games even in old systems, but most N64 games are limited to 15~30 real fps, so is it possible to increase the games fps making it run more smothly than in a N64 console?

Sorry, bad english.

:"Thundaar's" Project64 Report:

Now, I understand that the Intel Chipset is public enemy no. 1 but, even with such a card I was able to get full performance out of all emulators with the exception of the Chankast. Now I hope that you and all other programmers can make a better situation for the Intel Chipset because for me, getting a new graphics card is outta the question and installing it would be impossible for me. I could switch the chipset with the NVidia Card in my other comp but, that would be too difficult for what is called a Noob. And if I could then I'd get the well discussed Radeon Video Card.

In other words, I just want better compatibility with the Intel Chipset...

Sometimes when I play games I have to switch between Jabo and Glide64 because Jabo has a better Framebuffer feature for Pokemon games but, Glide64 makes everything run smoother. The major difference is that Jabo makes the program run with some issues in Full Screen Mode, them being the factor of speed and it gets glitchy in Full Screen under Jabo sometimes. Glide64's Framebuffer didn't work for me.

In other words, I think that Framebuffer should be Pre-Installed into the software and used whenever needed as detected by Project64.(Remembering that we all have different computers, we all have different problems)

I also think that, if possible, the Design of the Project64 should look a bit more sophisticated. When I opened it up I thought it was a notepad program so there should be something that would allow a common destinction.

P.S. The Glide64 Wrapper Test fails on my computer saying it can't find the Framebuffer pixel file thingy while scanning MS_DOS...

I've also had a problem where Pokemon Stadium 2 doesn't work and the emulator freezes up while the entrance is running.
