What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart

It most certantly does. You know, Ice montain, Zora bay, Termina field, Southern Swamp and so on. Does anyone have a favourite place there? mine is Clock Town and Southern Swamp:p

No, because he doesn't have an internet connection at home, and he can't upload it from the place he's posting from currently, either.

EDIT: Woah, cool, pretty awesome surprise Djipi! Glad to see MM is so far ahead already! :D

As I said in another thread, just having Clock Town retextured is a HUGE step forward in this game, because a lot of the game happens in that area, besides having a lot of textures that are re-used in later parts of the game.

Basically, the game has 6 big areas: Clock Town, Swamp, Mountain, Bay, Valley and Termina Field. The rest are the dungeons, which in this game they have A LOT of detail in them.

What I like the best in this game (I mean in detail) are the character animations. Those characters that didn't move much in OoT, like Malon, Ingo, Anju, the girl in the bombchu minigame (chest minigame in MM), and of course, Link, now they have many different animations for them. They walk, they run, they sit down, sit up, instead of just stand there doing nothing like they did in OoT.

personaly, i really didn't like mm as much as i loved oot, it seemed to have the right idea but i really found that the settings and general idea of the game were very surreal and sorta freaked me out. i got half way through that quest in the forest with the two witches and just gave up. that reminds me, the amount of recycled stuff from oot really annoyed me too :p

You only got to the two witches?
That's why you don't like it I guess... The best part of the game starts once you've cleared the first temple in my opinion.
And the recycled stuff is only some character models and a few items, but once you get a little bit farther you realize that the game has more depth in it than OoT. Almost every single person in the game serves a purpose. I was extremely surprised to see that the inn keeper Anju had so much interaction with you. I once tried to see EVERYTHING she did during the three days, and I was so amazed. She would go from one place to another, go to the kitchen, talk with her grandmother and give her dinner, go upstairs to her room, waiting for Kafei to come, talk to the postman... and she would do many other things if you interacted with her. It just gave the game a feeling of intelligence. It REALLY introduced you in Link's role.

Everthing was so alive: the grandma from the bomb shop being robbed, the robber coming and going from his hideout, the mayor's wife (Madam Aroma) talking with different guests every day and going to the milk bar, Mr Ingo annoyed at her...

And there was always that feeling of upcoming darkness. You could feel that the tragedies were getting worse every time, like people dying, a girl lossing her father, EVERYTHING happening in Ikana Canyon was so sad... and of course, the moon falling down. Even the music kept getting darker as the moon was falling!

I just think that this game was so underrated... It was so much better than OoT in many ways, but having only 4 main dungeons made a lot of people give up the game, even though it was as long as OoT.

And the mask system is so much improved from OoT! In OoT certain masks made some enemies just run away or not appear at all (bunny hood in Hyrule Field, Skull Mask for flying Keese...). But in Majora's Mask, you could carry all the masks at once. If you had certain masks, the game went so much easier (the bunny hood had you run a lot faster, which was really good for big jumps, the Stone Mask made the Pirate's Fortress a simple place, and the Garo's Mask had the Re-Deads dance in strange patterns like a russian dance or ballet :D )

I guess you can already see I'm a big fan of the game, right? Maybe some of you should read the Zelda MM manga translated to English. You can find them here. They explain the story of Majora's Mask extremely well. Don't forget you have to read them from right to left ;)

I totally agree with you. I think OoT was a great game, but a bit overrated. I think its because it was the first 3d game in the series.

This seems to happen with many a game series. The first 3D game always gets the most praise. Final Fantasy had FFVII, Mario had SM64, and Metal Gear had Metal Gear Solid. These were all great games, but their sequels, even if they are equally awesome, get overshadowed.

Yeah, that's what it's usually like, and when they make 3d game and put them on a 2d GBA game people say oh that game sucks the 1st one was 3d.

i suppose you have a point about me not giving it a proper chance, if i can track down a copy for the n64 i'll give it a go (ive got the gamecube version if that fails).

Getting the Nintendo 64 version of the game much better, as the Gamecube port has tons of annoying slow-downs as you may have noticed. :p

I totally agree with you. In the 64 version there is a certain blur effect, because it dosen´t use cd´s. And that helps to hide errors here and there. (white lines, and so on) But on the Gamecube, it is more obvious.

I dont know why so many people have problems with the Gamecube ports. Mine work perfectly, no slowdown, no glitches. Only tiny audio problems here and there, but no biggie.

Probably due at least partially to the fact that Majora's Mask was too large of a ROM to fit in the GameCube's memory all at once, unlike Ocarina of Time. :p

I presume Djipi doesn't need my help hosting the file then??? Or do you?

I have loads of free space just aching to get used!

Anyway, hope you can get your internet sorted soon so we can all experience cel Zelda in full!

Okay, so I've been ghosting this thread for months now, and I've finally decided to register...:p I've checked out all the latest screenshots (the huge slew of them that Djipi posted in early September) and I think I was just about ready to wet my pants.

So I know we're waiting on the texture pack, and I'm fine with that (not really, but I can live :p ), but is there any chance the Orkin plugin might be released at the same time, even on this thread? Because as amazing as Djipi's graphical work is, I don't know that I could fully appreciate it without the plugin. Or are we just depending on Orkin for that? Because the best I can tell, the only thing we know about Orkin right now is that he's (probably) not dead. And it looks about ready for release to me...
