What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

Hey, that's mean. Some of us don't have a lightning quick internet with 24 hours a day to download . I don't know about you, but i don't leave my computer on overnight to download things. It would take at the VERY LEAST 3 days. I'm running a 56k and using Getright to continue my downloads, so PLEASE don't host it anywhere where i won't be able to do that. Am I the only one ?

no you're not the only. I also dl things with getright :p and have 56k

We're really sentimental here at Emutalk :bye2: We're talking here about Djipi. It's not like talking about any other person nobody cares about. Djipi has proven himself that he is a great graphic artist in terms of retexturing games, specially in giving old games new feelings (wind waker style with some "Djpied" style). He made this game feel different but still with the flavour of the original, and he is even the FIRST person to complete a retexturing project. That has made him earn a lot of respect in the retexturing community, so it's no wonder why we all care about his personal life.

very well said. i just add that i wish all the best in your life djipi, and we all hope that your situation gets well soon ;)

Googol

Give me back my floppy face!
^^ He's having computer troubles, so it won't be uploaded for a while. However, he has finished the project.
Djipi: Good Luck with everything... hope it all works out. It's been a great project!

And how much is DSL or broadband these days? I mean serouisly get with the times man :p

I used to have 56k and I used to download files well over 1Gb. 150Mbs should be nothing to you. If you get download at a seedy 4Kbs per sec, You will have the .zip file just a little over 10hours:canadian:

A torrent is the absolute best idea. Folks on dial-up can resume, and given the popularity of the project, it won't rape any one's bandwidth. Not to mention it won't run out of seeders any time soon.

A lot of you petitioning for something other than a torrent don't seem to understand how quickly 150MB can scale out of control. We're looking somewhere within the realm of hundreds of Gigabytes of data transfered within the first month. If anime fan subs are any indication of how obsurd bandwidth considerations are, figure 20,000 *150, and we're talking about 3terra bytes. I have seen more than a fair share of anime fan subs with tens of thousands of peers. There are reasons fan sub groups utilize bit torrent for distrobution.

If you're concerned no one will seed, then SEED the file. If you keep seeding, someone is doing there job. Can't complain then, even if you are taking all the slack. Give something back to the project in the form of free bandwidth for Djipi. It doesn't matter if you're on a 56K either. Upload as long as you possibly can. 200kilobytes is 200 kilobytes someone else doesn't have to contibute for another complete copy.

Once there are enough duplicates in circulation they will apear on centralized P2P networks like KAD, and private P2P networks like Direct Connect hubs. A torrent will ensure quick reliable, and most importantly, FREE distrobution of the original package to large numbers of people. If they don't show up on the alternate networks, DO IT YOURSELF. Djipi should not have to accomidate all of us. I'm sure that he would like to, but there are limitless alternitives, from private FTPs, to IRC, to limited but free web hosting services.

I can barely use my machine for anything at the moment. So as a favor for being inable to complete the sky project, you can sure as hell bet I'll be making my own torrent, if Djipi doesn't provide one from the get go, and will seed it for a month solid.

If you don't like something, help out by providing an alternitive for the people who agree. Don't expect Djipi to provide solutions for every single one of you. I will not complain, regardless of the method he chooses for distrobution. He's done more than enough to make the package. The least we can do as the audience is share it with even more people.

the package could be splitted up in .7z or .rar parts. however, even with 10 parts, the download of every part must be about 15mb...
OR the pack could be separated into certain parts. I mean, for example, by dungeons/maps. then people could download the parts he judges necessary as first. and i'm sure every dungeon/map won't be big, like 15mb or more.
I personally think 150mb is so much... I never downloaded such a big file... but if necessary, I wil help to seed and download it as a torrent.

But what of the people who have never done anything with a torrent before?

They are the same people who have never had the opportunity to play a fully retextured game before...it will be well worth it to learn how to download with torrent files.

For those that haven't done it before: It is not complicated to begin with, you download a popular client, install it, download the .torrent and wait until the download is finished. Virtually no learning curve.

If no one minds having a regular DSL connection as a tracker, I could host the BitTorret for a week or two for whoever wants to use that download method, provided someone sends me the pack. :p

It seems to me that it is no different from p2p progs such as LimeWire, I'll pick it up pretty quick. ;)
Thanks for the info.

Putting the pack into split archives or archiving separate parts of the pack separately is a bad idea. The amount of people with slow connections is a very small percentage and those of us with broadband will be annoyed when we have to download many small parts to get the entire thing. So I think since broadband people are the vast majority here, they should be catered to.

Agreed, it would be best to keep as one archive. Bit Torrent FTW. I'll be happy to seed :bouncy:

After I get the package, I'll also post on Usenet as well. Before anyone asks what that is, go to www.nfonews.com and click on Newsgroup Tutorial.

Its all very well saying 'have you seen the amount of replies and views on this thread, loads of people will seed', but not necessarily. Not everybody has the bandwith capabiliies, processing power or the ability to give a crap about others and seed.

Man of course people will seed the project i have seen torrents with files of 2 or 3 GB and they last more than a month alive with seeders share it trough torrent will be a good idea and dont worry at the very least i say a torrent with Djipi's textures will last 1, 2 or even 3 months and thats more than enough time for your Dial-ups to get the file.

Yes that would be better but that would cost some money and after all work Djipi has done you expect him to pay for an FTP or HTTP oh and a FreeHost would suck for broadband users so the options that fits better for Broadband and Dial-up users is a torrent.

Stop being noobs, With enough seeds you will get a faster download than off an FTP. This pack is massive and everyone will want it... And will seed for everyone eles.

Bittorrent is so much easier than PSP programs... You just download the torrent, Open it and its away.
