The Great Gunblade Wielder
2GB's to kernel, and 2GB's to User address space.Reason is the texture caching. By default, windows restricts the memory that can be occupied by one process to 1GB. As the decompressed textures in memory will need more than that, the plugin crashes.
User address space is EVERYTHING running, not just isolating to a single app. which is why large address aware is important with games on new os's that run alot of stuff at the same time.
Things change more if the app and plugins are compiled to be Large Address AwareWindows Server 2003 includes support for a startup switch that lets you tune the allocation of use of memory and memory address space. Regardless of the amount of physical memory in your system, Windows uses a virtual address space of 4 GB, with 2 GB allocated to user-mode processes (for example, applications) and 2 GB allocated to kernel-mode processes (for example, the operating system and kernel-mode drivers). On systems that have 1 GB or more of physical memory, these two startup switches can be used to allocate more memory to applications (3 GB) and less memory to the operating system (1 GB). This additional virtual address space helps reduce the amount of memory fragmentation in the virtual address space of the Exchange information store process.
Patch Project64 with this
http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=112556
it fixes both 1.6 and 1.7
just enable the texture pack after starting the game, having it enabled at start will crash.
