What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

Hey guys! Glad to see that you're all still working on this.

I been still doing graphic design: link

I'd be glad to finish or even redo anything that needs to be made from scratch. By that I mean, I won't need any textures (wood, carpet etc), but stuff like icons.

I really don't have the time or will to get back into emulating at the moment, so if someone could just send me a dump of all the inventory stuff, I'd be much appreciative. I've also moved on from GIMP to Photoshop, and as you can probably tell by my dA account I posted, I can do much better work now.

Actually, re-redoing all the inventory icons is what interests me at the moment. That or any/all buttons in the game.

@lewa nice to see you are still around, you might of noticed tho most of your work has sadly being replaced with work from Fedderli's pack since yours are good but his had a higher amount of detail to them.

@chaoszerox, probably would be best to remake it fully but then I haven't look at it yet :)
And I'm guessing by circle thing in the water you mean ripples.

@Everyone here is a some changes done to 1964 Video since my last post of the changelog.
Code:
Fix the building of 1964 Video.
Try and knock back some of the amount of calculations done to increase speed.
Use daedalusx64's method for vertexes with Wave Racer.
Fix up the Wave Race ucodemap loading so it actually uses its ucodemap not
ucodemap 0.

Watching the video I noticed that the water effect wasn't re-done in the v4 pack.
After I dumped the textures, I simply recorded a few simple actions (image size, guaaian blur, chrome filter, ect.) to each of the 7 textures that make up the water effect, and applied each one the same to each texture.

Hey thx for that, Im not sure i done it correctly (putting it into the game) as you say its clearly very close to the original as i have a very hard time spotting the difference however after sometime i do think it is slightly noticeable i think i might do a screenshot test just to be sure the textures are loading ^^ but yeah thx for those head ups ^^

I plan to deliver some Constructive Criticism later if you want it i been playing up to Fire Temple (Really can't wait to see that in High Res) I think i have spotted some slightly annoyances in some of the textures i might think would be better to ask if thats what you want.

But overall im very impressed but do keep in mind this is my first trying on playing a High Res pack i might should try a few more packs before i deliver this constructive criticism. Its all very fresh to me this new experience. I do encourage every one involved to finish it because its clearly something that benefits and makes the game more enjoyable actuallyl to the point you think the dungeons looks good. So its definately not time wasting. (Especially now a days when good games are far and few between)

Yeah, I know that Federelli's stuff was of higher quality. I'm capable of almost matching that level of quality now (I'd like to think anyway), so if there's any stuff like icons that you want me to do lemme know. I'd be glad to redo everything. Just send me the ocarina icon and I'll show you if you want :p

I need to start following along a little again so I know what needs to be done. Funny, more interested in just using Photoshop than I am with emulating...

Guys, you know what the nice thing about retexturing is?

Sometimes you can get a great insight into what the original artist had in mind when they designed a certain area, though sometimes its hard to see because of technical limitations back then. And very rarely you get a feeling that you actually brought some of the artist original ideas back into the game and create a tiny bit of the atmosphere the game might have had if it was developed for some of the 2nd generation of 3d systems.

To me, this happens very rarely. I sometimes feel like this about the Kokiri Forest Retexture. And today after I decided to pay dodongos cavern another visit to give it a little workover and struggled a long time with the brick texture. After I studied these textures quite a long time and finally got it working I felt like this too. It's that feeling, that this texture fits perfect in every aspect.
I want to share it with you.

A++++

I hate when the originals look like nonsence tho, like this rug in spirit temple.
The border of it literally looks like a rope to me? wth?

@stef, congratulations that your exams are over!
@chaoszerox, then it is a rope. as long as something looks real it doesn't matter what it is. The audience i going to believe it.

Wow mode, that's insanely good. I think the green stuff is supposed to be a kind of rock that's fiber-like, or is spiderweb-covered green rock. The lava is good, but I think the rock needs to be more chunky.

Man, I forgot how hard this is. Making stuff from scratch is SO much easier than redoing something.

Here's a crappy, but at least better, hookshot I'm working on. Not happy at all with it. Looks blurry, washed out, and low quality.

@steftheserb glad to hear your exams are now over :)
@Mode7 that is looking really nice tho that green thing seems to look a little bit to cartoony.
@Lewa that's looking really good!, glad to see you back and working on some textures.

I would like all my work from the project removed--2 reasons:

1. I have no intentions of continuing my work, and have lost all the progress I have made on previous projects.
2. It's very apparent to me that even if I allowed my work to remain, it would simply be replaced within a short time anyway--I find that insulting in a way, and have no intention to allow my work to be replaced according to someone else's will, without ANY sort of head's up to the artist who spent MANY hours on it in the first place.

As a consequence of this request, the video of Zora's Domain will need to be removed as well--that retexture was my work.

This also means my name should be removed from the contributor's list.

As of the date of this posting, I consider the following work mine, and would like it removed by the release of the next pack:
Sun Song's Cave (in the Graveyard)
Dodongo's Cavern
Jabu Jabu's Belly
Zora's Domain
Zora's Fountain
Portions of Zora's River (though I can't remember what specifically I did, so I'll allow it to remain)
Since I never released texture files for the Water Temple, it should still be in the state it was left in by Lewa/Railroads.

wtf Chieftain459 I never said Mode7 could replace your work. He just went and did it.
But since you requested I will remove them from pack v5 but will not be removing the v4 pack download link till I have sufficient amount of stuff to release. And now thanks to you that will be a lot longer.

Plus just because he is making his version of it doesn't mean yours are going to be replaced since this is an open project everyone reserves the right to provide a replacement for someone elses work.

I agree.

Chieftain, you did some good work. Sure, maybe some of it will be replaced, but I bet a lot of it will stay. Obviously mode7 felt a random urge to redo dodongo's. They replaced my icons, and I understand.

Your work is appreciated. Even if a texture you made doesn't stay, it still helps us invision what the texture should look like. Like a stepping stone.

In a project like this, the goal isn't credit but to: Make a better game; gain art skills. That means we do our best to fill in the blanks, or even replace some textures with better versions. If you know that you can do a better version of a texture, go ahead and do it (after asking, that would be a nice thing to do).

I think you've put a lot of time and effort into this project and we all (including you) would regret not having those as part of the pack.

I see no reason why removing my work will prolong you releasing a new pack. My point isn't entirely about whether or not the work gets replaced--it bugs me that there was no warning, and that while there's still stuff that has NEVER been touched that people are going back and messing with stuff that seemed perfectly fine in the first place.

Regardless, if the "open project" is entirely about replacing someone elses work, it will never get done. I applaud those who took the initiative to work on stuff that hasn't been done before, but there's just not enough people doing that anymore.

If I thought I could focus on working on this stuff, I probably would. But since losing every shred of "work in progress" stuff I had, I've lost interest.

If it really upsets you that I'm backing out, then you can keep the stuff I did before... I just can't see how much good it will do, especially after seeing how all of lewa's stuff got replaced by work from a separate pack--if you're going to just borrow federelli's work, you may as well just use his entire project.

Do what you want with my artwork, I don't care anymore. This is my last post.

@Chieftain459 thank you for allowing use to keep your work.
Also I actually got permission from Federelli to use his work, they are there to be kept as a base for future re-textures since his textures stay quite true to the original they can give a good direction for an artist to base his work off, they are not to stay there forever.

@Lewa I agree with your post :)

@Everyone
To stop other people from doing what Chieftain459 attempted to do we now have a terms of submission.
When submitting work for the Zelda OOT Community re-texture project you are agreeing to the following.

* The right for us to replace your work at our own free will.
* The right for us to keep any work even if it has being requested to be
removed by you.

If anyone dislikes this please just tell me or if you have a better written version please post it.
