What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart

@steftheserb Can you post screenshots of what you have so far? So I know what not to do?
Better yet why doesn't every 1 post screenshots of their progress the day they do it, not weeks or months later, and once a week or so upload your work.

I always post my work the day I do it, so I can get constructive criticism and improve my work.

here is a picture but it pretty much all needs to redone as they were just tests. there are a few textures though that i think are ok but i need to touch them up a little. i've done some other textures but haven't got scrrens atm so i'll go and make them now
Other than the fact they are way to bright, it looks like progress :)

Awesome dude, see I get what you're saying. Mine are close, just more detailed. But in your first screen shot, that wall you have tiles and looks alot better than mine. I'd prefer if we went with that.

And in the second SS, it looks great, but personally for me, it doesn't portray the gloomyness of the temple kind of how mine does. And I see you took out the overlay texture for the walls?

I really can't judge if u guys don't post 2 screenshots per view (1 with retex, 1 without). Otherwise u can't tell what's different unless u load up the game. Otherwise ur not going to get any constructive criticism from me...

Only thing I can say is it looks wayyy to bright still...that whole dungeon was dark.

also those screenshots are rather tiny >.>

When I do texture I look at 2 things once I have saved my png and are testing it

1. Does it look like it is made out of the same matrial, and same general shape as what I think the original was suppose to be?

2. Is the overall dark/lightness and color/saturation generally the same?

Imagine this, all the original textures were reduced in size a vast amount to fit on the N64 platform. What is your job? to re-create what they looked like before they were reduced, and some times, improve upon that.

@DD I really think we need to make a mission statement for this project and post it on the first page, something you approve of of course :p

I've actually began to become frustrated over the lack of both mine and everyone's work on the project, I'll channel this into some more work on the project soon :)

Also where did all of our old friendly contributors go =(

Hey guys, its been a while...sorry I fell off of this project, school started up so I forgot about it. If you don't remember me, I started making a hi-res shield, its a VERY long way back in this thread. I might get started on some stuff again, if I brush up on photoshop skills, haha!

as i said before i've replaced the overlay with a blank texture for now so i can see the textures clearly so i can see if there are tiling problems. my textures use the color and lighting info of the old texture so most of mine are pretty close but dont look like it as the overlay isn't there

ps. i'll edit the previous post and put pictures without

I like what you did with the tile texture, but it's a bit bright, if theres a way to give it a more shadow kind of darkness look, it will suit the shadow temple well.

@steftheserb
Ah now I understand why they're so light. Does the overlay texture DO anything (like move)? If not I think we don't have to worry about it as much as if it did move around (like the lava textures).

The short rectangular bricks look pretty good actually, but I wish they looked a bit older, they kind of look like they belong in a mansion, and not an ancient well.

The long bricks look totally off to me. The outlieing shape of the bricks shouldn't be perfect rectangles with 90 degree angles, the original had a fair about of disfigurement to them

@yab
Looking at the original now, I think those poles are looking good, they look rough and rusted. Getting it to tile nicely, and look like a pole around a box isn't easy -_-

I wish everyone would post nice big screenshots like you, but it would also be nice to post the originals (what it looked like before retext)

I'm also going to post my source sites for base textures incase they come in handy to anyone

The skin, the hand, the eyes, eyebrow, hair all look PERFECT!!!!

Maybe a little work on the ears, mouth and clothing and Saria can be our show girl for the project to get people interested :D!!! LMAO!

The skin tone looks much better than the original, gosh I could go on forever...

I'll try to find that light green part for you right now ^_^

Can you post the textures so we can have a closer look?

Oooh wow. Uhhh. Thanks! I'm glad she's turned out well! (Especially since she's probably my favorite character...)

Here are the bits that I have changed so far:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ECJFPPLV

I forgot to mention last post that the ear is actually stolen from another character so it wouldn't bother me as much whilst testing the other things.

Hooray, you found it! Thanks! Hm, I think I have everything, unless she has more textures in the post-timeskip cutscenes.
Thanks again~ I will try to get more done, soon.

Damn guys I still have no clue how to use photoshop!

I want to help out with this too, this project is awesome. Maybe I can do something easy. Like the carpet in the Temple of time, I believe that hasn't been done.
