  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

Well RV kind of does not sure if that even works properly tho, You will have to ask Microdev about that.

Here's a screen showing my plug-in problem. Granted these aren't the textures I'm working on that doesn't matter. Between screens all I did was change over which plugin I was using, is there a setting I may have wrong?

I'm a little confused now: What version of Rice are you using? Or are you using the 1964Video r35 plugin? If not, use the latter.

Concerning caching in 1964Video:
If you add or change hires textures during emulation is running, you have to create a subfolder "WIP" (case doesn't matter) in the folder of your hires pack. All textures, you place there, will be reloaded when you load a savestate (or change between fullscreen and windowed mode). All textures placed in other folders won't.

I'm running v1.1 of 1964, I just got into work so I'll have to get back to you on what version of 1964Video I'm running.

I don't have texture caching enabled and all of my textures are in the wip sub folder. When I get home tonight I'll also load Wave Race and see if it loads everything, should be easy to tell I have the game 99% retextured. Thanks so far!

Where did you get a compiled version of 1.1? I'm still using 0.9

I checked and it is the r35 version of the 1964 Video plugin that I am using.

@chaoszerox - This is the link I downloaded 1.1 from: http://1964emu.emulation64.com/1964_11.rar

EDIT: Now with more fun! I tried with .99, same errors, and for some reason when I load a save with adult link I get this error: "800CF97C: Exception in emulation thread"

"Exception in emulation thread"
I get those errors sometimes, randomly though and not often, and I can't say it happens when I do a specific thing because it's always something different, random

also I've found that to load a pj64 savestate(not sure about other non-in-game saves) you need to pause it, load the savestate, and wait 1-5 seconds before un-pausing it.

Hey guys totally new here obviously. Couple questions...I used to run mode7's original version of this before he announced he would not work on the project anymore. I am and was using p64 1.6 with napalm wx release 1 and had no issues at all. Fyi my computer is absolute overkill for this.

When using v4 of this community project should I still have mode7's original files? I figured not so I downloaded this v4 release posted on page 1 upon starting p64 the typical loading textures started took about a minute. Once the nintendo 64 logo comes up the N spins very slowly and is running about 1-2 frames per second.

So I close p64 since its all cached by now and it loads up quickly only to realize not all textures are working. For example I read here that Zora River is done, and Jabu as well so I head to Zora River still see some old textures (except for that small bridge and pillar below it near the fence) and inside Jabu nothing's changed? Am i doing something wrong?

Almost all work on this thread has being tested using Rice Video(aka 1964Video) so we only properly offer support for it, i recommended posting on the Glide HQ's official forum to get help with the problem.(Also one thing that might help try deleting the cache file)

update glide64, there are available wip compiles in the glide64 forums.
enable S3TC compression. Its effects on quality are neglible but it provides a decent performance improvement on less capable hardware.

hi!
i have three questions:
  1. is the former „federelli“-pack part of this one?
  2. why has progress stopped half a year before?
  3. if you choose to dump textures – is there a option to dump only ones which are not replaced? (i am german and to start i simply want to do hires äöü and ß)

I tried the latest rice plugin again just to double check and yea same thing is happening alot of textures are not loading. Plus rice video has terrible texture flicker/popup. I had no problem using Napalm plugin and mode7's release everything included in that beta release worked just fine. Like I said when I try to load this V4 600+mb file some textures take effect but most dont.

Most obvious is the main menu where I should be seeing an amazing sky n clouds but I dont. I mean once I unrar this V4 file i just place in plugin/hires_texture folder correct? I can verify everything is in the correct place and load hires is checked. What about the directory structure of "THE LEGEND OF ZELDA" folder? anything I should know?

Sorry for these posts but apparently I figured it out. With Napalm plugin for example it seems I have to take all folders out of the areas, effects, enemy, hud, links textures, and main menu folders and place in "THE LEGEND OF ZELDA" folder then textures load up just fine no issues at all.

Just an fyi for anybody having similar issues. Curious though I noticed chieftain released finished textures for Zora river but they aren't included with V4? Anyways I added them manually. Awesome work guys hope to see a finished product sometime much love.

Don't want to flood this with tech stuff but if I get it working I can start making stuff for this project asap.

Here are my plugin settings, again, v35 of 1964v and 1.1 of 1964:

Its really too bad i'm a total beginner otherwise I would help out bigtime. OOT was a great game that I could possibly manage to still play through without texture packs. But after seeing the work here I could certainly see myself playing this even more...if complete of course. Seeing OOT and Majora's Mask 100% retextured would be awesome. I'll put time in to get better at this so I could help out eventually and put some work in. For now pleeease keep up the pace!

@Djipi awesome I'll look into those texture loading problems with Dolphin as soon as i can

@Flying Sheep no Federelli isn't part of this group, I've just borrowed some of his work.

@Cypha the sky textures load fine for me, also i could of sworn the Zora River textures are in there. Could you post a link to the post with the download link.
Thanks for reporting that/

@The Dave, the only differences between my options and yours is that i have Texture Quality set to Default
Depth Buffer Type set to 16-bit(Def)
and AA and AF set to 0.
None of those should affect texture loading tho.
Here is my own build of 1964Video which is a build of r51 http://www.mediafire.com/?nmwmzmydmnm (Please note due to some problems I've being having the WIP folder most likely will not work properly due to some code I have commented out, You can try it if you want XD)
