  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart

Oof, good luck with that Chaos... the font's OK, but I kinda wish it was closer to the original (which is really asking a lot!!)... can you hold off for a couple of days? I may be able to give you a hand... I might be able to make a font to match those characters.

I can want, no problem. I have plenty of textures to do :O Currently working on the primary door texture.

Primary door texture - Spirit Temple

Well after about 2 hours of solid work I have version one of the door. I didn't do too much to the dark background behind the wooden...planks for lack of a better word, but I think the rest of it is friggen awesome  :bouncy:
Actually I have a 32x version of it, but with the 32x version it looks messed up from anything but close up, but reducing it down to 16x fixes it. I used 16x in the screenshot. Maybe AA would fit that, but this old comp doesn't allow FSAA with 1964 for some reason. Can't wait to get my better comp back running again!

I like it... but what could go in the background...? It does seem like something needs to go back there, but I have no idea what it could be.

Edit--on second thought, I think it's fine back there... I just needed to zoom in on the picture a little (it loaded kinda small on my browser for whatever reason).

@Emarian i moved it into the 1964-emu svn so the link is http://code.google.com/p/emu-1964/ just to svn checkout the video plugin then use the following http://emu-1964.googlecode.com/svn/src/1964Video/.
@Chieftain459 thats like 10 times better then what it originally looked like, keep up the good work.
@chaoszerox for the painting we should try contacting blooped out to see if he will do them since he is a very talented artist(In like drawing) also good work with the spirit temple and earring textures.

I realized I'd already uploaded this to rapidshare to share previously. Use them as you will.

Here is my Photoshop PSD file if anyone wishes to pickup where I left off. I personally like it but I agree that it goes not fit the original feel. Layers are intact.

good job chieftain

continuing my random re-textures I came across the 5 paintings inside of Zelda's Castle. None of them have been done yet. The originals are exceptionally tiny!

I'm wondering if it's acceptable to use more modern versions of the characters? Maybe blooped out can make them actual paintings like his wonderful job on the poe paintings? Note that Bowser gets stretched into a non-square rectangle in-game. And the others get streched to different sizes

P.S. Thought this was cool

It's been a very long time since I played that part of the game (something like 11 years) but I don't think I ever recall coming across those. Are they all characters out of Mario? Looks like the same Mario on front of the N64 cartridge with the wing cap on. I'd dump them myself, but the save file that was uploaded here doesn't work. In fact, I can't get one that can. It's mind warping.

What emulator are you using? Try this
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?dwmw2mtdlyd

Also take one of your saves, any .sra save, copy the file name into one of the exracted sra's and see if that works.

P.S. to load .PJ saves in 1964 you HAVE to pause the emulator, load the save, wait a second, and un-pause it

@blooped--As for the first part of your post, when you're in Hyrule Castle (to meet Zelda), if you look into the windows in the courtyard where Zelda is, you can see these pictures on the inside walls. Yes, they're all Mario characters--Bowser, Mario, Yoshi, Princess Peach, and Luigi.

he is a screen shot of my first few textures on lon lon ranch. so far ive done the sign, the roof of the building, the wall and the gable end(the bit at the end of the house between the wall texture and the roof.
the sign is used in two places. the sign in the screenshot and another sign in the area with the fence where the horses are. the second place i mentioned isnt a rectangle its a mix between an oval and a recantgle so its tiled very wierdly and looks terrible. ill post a screenshot later of the dodgey sign

here is the house

I threw these 2 textures together in 30 mins. It includes the snake's scales and eyes.

Thoughts? Is it better with the pupils? or worse? also anyone willing to do the fangs for me :D?

Well first off it does look a lot better with no pupils but even then it's missing the stylings on the ends of the eye that the original had. It needs to be more a Hi-Def version of the Zelda texture not a Hi-Def snake eye.

You're using a lot of stock textures for your bases right? I think that's dangerous because while you're making hi-def textures it's easy to stray away from the art direction of the game.

I kind of threw together those 2 textures. They're prob some of my lowest quality work. I really am not sure what to do about those 2 textures. I uploaded them hoping to get a better idea WHAT to do. Currently I don't really think they're good enough to even include in any releases I make.

Trust me, I hate straying away from the originals, but once you actually do a few textures you realize it can't always be exactly like the original, otherwise whats the point of hires textures? Also I'm very picky on what base pictures I use, how I use them, etc.

@steftheserb good job, I'll look into the window problem for you.
@chaoszerox i have no idea whats wrong with that texture as the image that i found that has it does have an alpha channel. Also thanks for those bar textures and good work with that arrow feather end.

Note: these textures with wood elements look bad in 32x and sometimes in 16x. This texture is in 8x :robot:

What? I don't really know too much about alpha channels, except they can be used in photoshop to store selections

P.S. Most of the easier textures of Spirit Temple are out of the way now, it's going to get harder to finish :O

Basically, an alpha channel is used to determine what part of the image file can be seen in-game... so what death--droid is saying is that the window file has an alpha channel with it that SHOULD make the white part invisible... but it doesn't. So it's a conundrum.

To add to the problem, the butterflies are doing the same thing... weird.
