What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart

You know the pack is 511mb at the moment all up.
I'm not stopping you from repackaging it but i still would prefer people to use my links so i know what there downloading but then it would benefit people who are downloading from scratch so go ahead!

I just downloaded the pack, so yes, I know. File size is not a problem, nor is bandwidth (both are unlimited).

I am not making any modifications to the pack whatsoever. I simply followed the instructions on the first page, simply repackaging each archive into a single file.

I won't add any textures that I make myself unless they are included with the main release (I plan on making my mirror always match the current release).

As for those textures, I'll get around to producing some of those soon. Looking under the text folder, I see that no item names have been made, and that maybe some of the other textures can be cleaned up and perfected a little.

I'll get right on it, hopefully tomorrow.

EDIT:
What was the link again to the Google Code project for Aristotles' builds? It seems that it's throwing off a 403 error.

OK, so this is the icon death--droid was talking about (if I understood correctly--correct me if I'm wrong):

Based on that, I've reworked my Zora Sapphire:

Which looks like this in-game:

Does this look better?

I think when we discovered we can't change the bracer on his wrist, I somehow let the power guantlets slip.
Are you sure about that? I found 2 textures that make it up

Dumped and changed both textures

Here's the dumped originals

Maybe a bit of shadows around the sapphires themselves. Thye look like they were just placed there with an image editing software as opposed to them actually being part of the jewelry if you get my meaning. The placement is un-natural without any shadows

@Zeckron--let's re-address that "crusty, sun-baked whale" texture:

How's that? I won't mention where the source file came from, let's just say.... it's very accurate where sun-baked whale skin is concerned.

good job chieftain

continuing my random re-textures I came across the 5 paintings inside of Zelda's Castle. None of them have been done yet. The originals are exceptionally tiny!

I'm wondering if it's acceptable to use more modern versions of the characters? Maybe blooped out can make them actual paintings like his wonderful job on the poe paintings? Note that Bowser gets stretched into a non-square rectangle in-game. And the others get streched to different sizes

P.S. Thought this was cool

It would be nice if the end-result of the castle paintings looked like actual paintings--I can't imagine simple graphics of the Mario characters looking good on the walls in the castle... it would seem too odd to me.

Side note--Fountain is nearing completion. Look for an update later tonight with the pack... then I suppose it's on to the Water Temple for me.

@Zeckron--with child Link nearly done, have you had any thoughts on where to go next?

@Chieftan: Jabu is looking awesome. Perfect. Nice job on the crown jewel :D Good job hiding the mirroring. But one thing that I think would make it look awesome, is to add some outer bevel. Will make it look like it's sunk into Jabu's crown. Hard chisel is probably the way to go. Also, use a little bit of dark inner glow on the sapphires - will add a lot of depth (someone said that a bit ago about some other shiny thing, and I discovered how right they were). Maybe the gold too.

@Lewa--wish I could, but the textures are constructed in a way that makes it impossible. The jewel is a completely separate texture from the rest of the mask (in fact, it actually floats in front of the mask).

Edit--I can do the inner glow thing, but not the outer bevel.

Yeah I know. I was thinking maybe just shrink it enough so you can include it in the image itself. Outer bevel is just shading around the layer - it will work no matter where it is put in the game.

Note the addition to my post above regarding inner glow.

Yes, shading works regardless where it is, but blending modes (which are what make the bevel look normal) are discarded when the file is saved as PNG... so it wouldn't look quite right. I'll give it a shot, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

K. I really think it will work though.
Here's an example:
outerbevel.png

That's a transparent image. Whatever background you place it on, it will look sunk in. That's because the outer bevel is not opaque. The forums have a white background, so maybe upen it up in Ps or whatever.

Oof, good luck with that Chaos... the font's OK, but I kinda wish it was closer to the original (which is really asking a lot!!)... can you hold off for a couple of days? I may be able to give you a hand... I might be able to make a font to match those characters.

...as for the sapphire, the inner glow worked like a champ, but I think I was right about the outer bevel--the highlights went completely transparent, and the black went completely opaque. Check the screen:
