  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
    We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
    Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

    If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
    Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
    If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
    RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

    I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart

Are the textures you used...free to use? We can't use other people's work in this project unless given permission.
Just makin sure :)

Most but not all come from N64 Redux. I have just been doing this for fun and have not distributed anything until now so I haven't worried about logistics. There are textures used that come from other projects and some I just pulled from google images but I do not have expressed permission for any of them. I have virtually no experience making my own textures so all I've really done is edit and re-size existing ones. I got excited when I saw how well the game was coming together and decided to try and share some of what I'd done. I didn't think the modding community would be terribly worried about legality given that none of us own the rights to this game to begin with, but if this is going to be a problem then maybe I'll just keep this a private project. Regardless of how this works out I wish the best of luck to you guys.

@wybornya--I haven't had a chance to take a look at your work yet, but I will say this: there are a LOT of artists who work on this sort of thing that are VERY possessive of their work--they may not own the rights to the game, but when their work is on the line, there's no chance they will let it be used for other things (whether it makes sense or not), so I wouldn't assume anything. To be honest, I would probably lump myself into that category--I wouldn't want to be an ass, but I do put a lot of time into the textures I do, and I don't think I would be cool with someone taking them and using them for something I didn't intend originally. But that's just me.

I can understand if someone spent a great deal of time on these textures that they might be defensive. Honestly I didn't think it took that much effort to make them based on my limited experience. It's probably just my newbiness talking but it looked to me like most of the textures were just pictures taken of real world surfaces so I didn't think people would try to lay claim. That said I'm not out to make waves so if people are getting offended I'll kill the download link asap. This really was just for fun I didn't mean for anyone to feel ripped off.

@Wybornya I'm not including any of those textures sorry, i don't feel like angering anybody.
@Lewa Good work on those textures the shield needs more of a metal texture to it try looking up tutorials :p.
@Chieftain459 Just wondering do you anything in the works at the moment...

@death--droid--I started on Zora's Fountain, but haven't finished yet. I just got back in town this afternoon, and haven't had a chance to catch back up on textures. I need to do a little catch-up on my work work, then I'll pick up where I left off. I don't have an ETA on it yet, I'm not exactly sure where I am with that area.

@Zeckron--mad props on the Zora pillars--they look amazing!! Are you planning on weathering them any, or are you going to leave them clean? (I think the originals are pretty much new-looking in the lake, so I think they're fine the way they are).

Chieftain, good to see you again. Thanks for the props on the pillars, they were quite a challenge (took 2 days), but very fulfilling and I learned a whole lot during the process.

I'm planning on keeping them clean, due to the originals being clean and the big stark contrast between them and the ones in Zora's Fountain.

Death--Droid hasn't mentioned me needing to 'bust them up' so until he says otherwise, they'll remain as-is :)

Tomorrow i'll re-upload the pack with the 2 corrections that were made along with the Great Fairy Fountain and regular Fairy Fountain textures I've been working on today and yesterday.

Glad death--droid is going for some quality control :D
Sup Zeckron. Been a while (like, more than 24 hours! :-O).

Better shield back:

I discovered gradient mapping :D

I'm going to do some basic stuff with he fire temple - basically pasting an adjusting (size, texture, color) premade textures (bricks n ground n such). Not really gonna do much detail work in that temple.

XD Zeckron just upload the new/updated textures not the whole pack :p
also i think the pillars are fine as in the game there clean looking :p

EDIT:
@Lewa , Looks nice now just need to try it out also with the fire temple if your not going to do much detail then refrain from doing it please.

Okay, I won't then. I did do the door, though. If I do do some detail work, though, I assume you want me to post it :D

Also, about the shield: It looks pretty good in-game, just needs more beveling or something. That's my opinion, though (I like beveling a bit too much). Might make the shield look too heavy. Maybe a flat-ish back is good.
Thank you all for being patient with me and my artwork. This is a new realm of image editing for me.

EDIT: If you're interested, here's everything I've done for the HUD so far (including inventory icons). Feel free to pick and choose:

Wow, so I just looked through all the posts while I was gone... I'm glad we're back on track now, but from the outside looking in, the argument with enterthehatrix seemed... one-sided? Oh well, we can manage. Besides, I (like several others) like the way things are being run now, and don't see change as being necessary.

Although, I maybe agree with squall just a little bit about having update packs when there are only a couple of areas being added (doesn't work if stuff in the whole pack gets changed)... just because my internet is slow as sloth sh*t and I don't like downloading 150+ mb every time there is an update. That's just me though, and I don't really want to get the argument started again, so I'm putting my 2 cents out there and moving on.

I should be back in a position to work on Zora's Fountain by this evening or tomorrow afternoon. I'll make a mini-announcement when I've actually started doing some work again (I know... "get off your lazy ass and do something").

Meantime, @Lewa--the shield looks great, as does the climbing wall texture. Glad to see that done! How's the Forest Temple going?

@Chieftain459 You don't have to download you could always go and find the actual link :p I generally only update the pack after a couple of big areas have being done.
Also since i often change the layout of the pack it may end up being quite dodgy.

The Pack on N64 Redux is the Beta 1 Pack, so lots of textures are missing:unsure:
Someone should update it to Beta 3.

By the way, death Mountain Crater is nearly finished, and then I will finish the Water Temple:bouncy:

THank you all for your comments :)

@death--droid:
Cool :D What do you mean by the green scale? Is there a green one? Oh well.
Regarding emblems OOPS medallions:
Do you like the yellow one I did? If so, I can give the rest a shot as I go. I think I want to re-do the yellow one. I'll get back with you on that.

@KrazyTrumpeter
I don't know why the hookshot isn't loading for you. Maybe you need a different video plugin. Also, did you make that video "Where's the Chapstick?"

@Zeckron
Thanks :) Did you make a shield back? It didn't or something for me :-O
Also, not to trash anyone's work, but I think that the master sword icon looks too long. Looks more like the biggoron's sword (or preferably, the giant's knife). I can redo it if anyone wants.

Regarding the forest temple:
I wasn't really that satisfied with how my work turned out for this temple. I still have quite a bit of experience to gain before I can redo an entire area. I collaborated with Zeckron and he agrees. Also, at the time I couldn't load textures that were hi-rez enough. Sorry guys :(

EDIT: Does this looks good?

EDIT: Or is this one better?
THE_LEGEND_OF_ZELDA_4C2E747B_0_3_all.png

I think I'm closing in with the second one. Once I get this mastered, I'll use the same method for all of them.
