What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

@Kodiack I'm not sure why the problem happens.... I haven't actually tried out the pack since i switched to windows 7.
Oh yeah what Video plugin are you using and what version.

Well, it seems to be Win7-related from personal experience. I noticed that I forgot to apply one of the older patches as well; however, that yields the same issue.

My emulator is Project64 v1.6, and I'm using the somewhat-recently-made 1964Video that was linked in this thread. It was a huge upgrade from Mudlord's work, and I hadn't had any issues with it until now.

I'm going to mess around with the folders and see if I can find any specific file or files that are causing the instability.

EDIT
I've gotten it to boot with all folders except for the Areas folder. I'll see if I can find the specific conflict.

Well, it doesn't seem like any specific file is causing the issue; however, after it starts to get in too many textures, it will crash. I can get it to boot with a higher amount (but not all), and textures will show up in weird colors (i.e. the grass is blue instead of green).

Also, my framerate takes a pretty big nosedive, and the sound becomes extraordinarily choppy.

...One more thing to add that I don't feel like adding in since I just noticed it. >.> Some textures won't load at all (i.e. Lon Lon Ranch had a lot of white), so yeah. I believe it's a video plugin issue. I'll test different settings to see if I can resolve the problem.

EDIT
Ugh, no luck whatsoever. I can't seem to figure out what's causing the problem, but it only happens when so many textures are loaded in. Also, for some reason, the textures don't seem to cache, so loading takes a rather absurd amount of time.

i dont think its windows 7 though because im running it fine along wiht many other packs but it might be a case of the settings or the pc itself though i only have 1gig of ram and i get no lag or slowdowns with an intel core2duo proccessor but if you post your specs then maybe someone might find a problem or something(not me lol)

edit: just realised your specs are in your sig 0_0 and texture loading is quite quick for me so i don't cache them as last time i cached the textures in glide it just messed everything up( i actually had similar problems to yours)

My specs are in my sig. I wonder if it could be a Windows 7 x64 issue, though.

This is not really the best place to ask. GameFAQs should have everything you need, though.

I'm running 64-bit Win7 with no noticeable issues similar to yours... but that's just me.

Hrm. :\

Well, I'll sniff out that plug-in again, and then reconfigure PJ64 (and by that, I mean completely reinstall it). I had to mess with some DLL files back in Vista x64 to get it to boot, and that may be causing the conflict. The work that I've seen is fantastic, and I just know that I'll be blown away by V4 once I get it to work!

EDIT
Gah, what the heck? It's still not working correctly. I still crash with the exact same issue. :\

Using this plug-in, by the by:

Lol, I must have missed that a ways back... you're running PJ64 and using 1964 video (formerly Rice), right? I've always used 1964 for my emu... that's what's been working for me on Win7. Maybe give that a shot?

The latest 1964Video plug-in didn't work in PJ64. I'm now configuring 1964, and I'll post my results. :)

EDIT
I get "Error to start video"
Followed by "g_pRender is NULL"

This issue only happens in Ocarina of Time. High resolution textures work in other games. I'm going to try a different ROM at this point. :\

EDIT 2
Still no dice. I'm absolutely lost here...no idea what I can do at this point...

EDIT 3
Got it to work using Mudlord's Rice Video plugin. It looks...very good. o.o I'd really like to get 1964Video working, though, so that I can get high resolution static backgrounds upon release. =P

I use PJ64 for the 1964Video development, so yes, it works with PJ64 - at least for me. The error you are getting seems to indicate that you are using OpenGL. Try it with DirectX. I don't use OpenGL for now, thus I didn't test it neither.

@all: All plugin-related questions should be posted in the appropriate plugin release threads. I won't answer any plugin related questions in retexture threads in the future. Those should be dedicated to the retexturing.

@DD: Best would be if you add a link to the threads of the hires supporting graphic plugins (Glide & 1964Video) to the first post of this thread and mention that all plugin related questions should be posted there.

I've tried both DirectX and OpenGL; both get the same issue. I use DirectX under normal circumstances, and only use OpenGL if that doesn't seem to work out.

I don't know where to go for assistance on this rather cumbersome issue, so if any of you could point me in the direction, it'd be greatly appreciated. I don't want to be filling up this thread with a bunch of "junk" posts, lol. The project's going great, and I'd just love to see it in its full glory. =D

kind of sad how slow progress got as of late. Zeckron is MIA and all that's happening here is talk about how to use which emulator and plugin etc. I don't think this thread was meant for that sort of thing. There are countless threads about how to use hi-res texture packs.

on a side note:
http://www.mediafire.com/?xg3uif1deyl

I got less lazy and did up the eyes for link. So there they are for the pack if you guys want to use them. I made it a little larger then the original a slight, I could adjust it back if theres a problem though... Imo it looks better. =x

there somehow hasn't been much feedback on this, so:
those eyes are bloody amazing. Terrific work.

I have small problems with the forest temple from V4:
Everytime when I enter the boss room the fps go down to 2 or 3, the rest of the game works perfect.

I am using this 1964 plugin version that Zeth Alkar posted on 64 Hackz (I cant post a link because the Site is down).
I already tried to use glide 64, I reduced the resolution of some textures und I disabled AA and AF. The problem still remains :( .
Can someone reproduce the problem?

I have a Readon HD4870 with 1 GB Vram, 4 GB of Ram and a C2D with 3,6 GHZ.

Edit: I updated to 1964 Video R35, but nothing changed.

thanks, Railroads
