What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

If you guys really want we can move to the gamecube version of Zelda OOT. I don't see hires texture support coming to DS emulators any time soon.

I think you should stay focused on the Nintendo 64-version of OoT.
After all, you have already put in much effort and that shouldn't be wasted.

I think the 3ds version of OoT is going to do things that this mod can never do. The models are going to be updated, textures are going to be bumped up for that system, and maybe they will ditch all the pre-rendered stuff for actual models.

That being said no one is going to be emulated that version of the game on a screen that has the same resolution as most computer monitors. This project is still going to be higher res, and is sort of a different beast. So don't let it discourage your work, let it inspire it.

Exactly, I am saying this could be a great thing for the OoT Re-Texture scene. Either in renewing interest, giving us some indication of what to change, or giving us assets to inspire us.

And hopefully Utility of Time will come on leaps and bounds to enable model replacement. I have 3D locations modeled ready to put into the game once UoT is ready!

I seem to be the only one here who loves the fact an official Ocarina of Time remake is coming. Has no-one considered the possibility of moving re-texturing over to the new game, or transplanting the new models and areas to the N64 game?

One thing that grabbed me, is looking at this image

Death Mountain is now fully 3D, and the entrance to the Market over the drawbridge is too.

Work needs to start on DS (and presumably similar 3DS) emulation and retexturing...
Only playable DS emulator is NO$GBA, the the only developer hasn't done ANYTHING in years. The 3DS hardware is likely similar to the DS, thus making the emulation easier.

Is there any advantage of doing that?

You are WAY off sir

Yeah, if anyone wants to help me get the texture dumps from bosses, I'd appreciate it. I'll play through as young link today and get the textures from Barinade, Dodongo, and Queenie. :3

Nice, OOT in 3d? And portable? Can't wait to get my hands on that! XD Too bad it's gonna be on such a tiny screen. :(

Got to Gohma...but her textures wouldn't dump. Only things I'm getting are Link's facial expressions. What am I doing wrong?

The hardware in the 3DS is (apparently) based on the Nvidia Tegra system on a chip, and is much more powerful than a DS.

@Chaoszerox
Yeah one, the game cube emulator is a lot more actively developed then any of the N64 ones.
That's the only reason you want to switch? Well the amount of development isn't comparable. It's like comparing dial-up to Comcast 'unlimited' with no exaggeration ether. Dolphin has new builds comming out every few hours!

Well I don't think it's necessary to switch.
Yes, Dolphin is developed much more actively but they have other problems to solve.

And what improvement could retexturing the GC Version of OoT bring?
It's identical.

I'd rather stick to the Good'Ol N64. Still it might be worth a try. If we get rid of the performance issues this way it could get interesting.

@Chaoszerox I would personally prefer to stay with the N64, I never said I want to change, all I was saying if you guys really want to change we can only really move to the Gamcube version of OOT since I don't see retexturing support coming do any DS emulator any time soon, I just worded it wrongly. You also have to take note that those builds you see aren't official ones. The SVN of Dolphin isn't very strict which leads to huge problems now and then which is one of the main reasons I don't do any programming for it anymore, overall its an alright way of doing it since it actually gets some work done,

eh? desmume is WAY WAY better than NO$GBA and actively being developed and it played all games I ever threw at it perfectly, including all DS Zeldas, Mario, Metroid etc etc.

"The Legend of Zelda - Phantom Hourglass" and "The Legend of Zelda - Spirit Tracks" are both awesome. I'm sure the new OoT Remake will be awesome too.

Last I heard (last night) that was not the case. The 3DS uses ARM, otherwise how could it hope to be backwards compatible with DS games?
