What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart

If I read correctly, you need to go:

Texture enhancements>Load hi-res textures if available.

Make sure you put the texture pack in the folder (in the pj64 folder):
"Plugin>hires_texture>THE LEGEND OF ZELDA"

The Great Gunblade Wielder
Hi everyone,

EDIT#1: Appended more stuff to the end.

I just started this today and read the entire forum thoroughly. Here is what I've done:

1) Install PJ64 1.6 and update RDB
2) Applied LAA patch
3) Project64.exe > Right-click > Properties > Compatibility > Run as Admin
4) Extracted hi-res pack THE LEGEND OF ZELDA to Project64 1.6 > Plugin > hires_texture
5) Glide64.dll, Glide64.ini, and GlideHQ.dll in > Plugin
6) glide3x.dll in > Project64 1.6
7) THE LEGEND OF ZELDA.z64 in > Project64 1.6
8) Launch PJ64 and refresh rom browser
9) Options > Settings > Video plugin: Glide64 'Napalm WX' WIP Date: Oct 6, 2010
10) Options > Config Graphic >
-Set Full screen res: 1680x1050 32bpp 60Hz
-Uncheck Autodetect, VRAM 1024 Mb (I'm using Radeon 5870 1GB HD-587A-ZNF9, Catalyst 10.10)
-Check Show advanced emu options and Show texture enhancement options
-Click OK
11) Options > Config Graphics > Texture Enhancement > Clicked Best texture quality and click 'OK'
12) Start Game
13) Pause Game
14) Options > Config Graphics > Texture enhancement:
-Format: Rice format
-Checked Apply texture compression
-Click 'OK' (No apparent behavior)
15) Options > Config Graphics > Click 'OK'
16) Resume Game

Results:
-No apparent behavior (i.e. don't see any progress indicator suggesting loading of textures)
-If Format: Rice and then Start game > Project64 crashes.

<EDIT#1>--------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Tried using PJ64 and 1964 with various flavors of Rice and Glide64:
1) Textures load well on PJ64 but occasionally hiccups (e.g. sky color transition at title screen).
2) In 1964 there are many graphical glitches (e.g. title screen logo looks 'interlaced')
**3) Main annoyance: **Start Menu Glitch** - lags severely when going into start menu, background changes to inside Link's hut in Kokiri Village, on the equip screen, where Link's model should be, is instead some scrambled textures (can make out part of the Hyrulian shield). This glitch is present regardless of hi-res textures being loaded or not.

-Tried default Jabo Direct3D8 1.6 Plugin: No Start Menu Glitch
-Tried Glide64 plugin in PJ64 (w/o hi-res textures loaded since I can't figure out how to get them): No Start Menu Glitch

Now for FUN:
-No Hi-Res textures
-Default Jabo Direct3D8 1.6 plugin
-Enable Eyefinity (triple monitors in landscape)
-Fullscreen: (Eyefinity res with bezel correction)
-Options > Configure > Advanced Tab:Check "Adjust game aspect ratio to match yours"
-Load game

Result: WHAT?! OOT has better triple monitor support than most modern games! Runs Hor+, centered HUD, and minimal stretching and nearly perfect FOV.

</EDIT#1>--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Full System Specs:
AMD Phenom II X4
AMD Radeon HD 5870 1GB
4GB RAM
Windows 7 x64

Please help, thanks.

set Project64 to windows vista compatibility, theres some kind of glitch with GlideHQ without it on many systems.

Thanks...will try this when I get home in a few hours.

Is there a status site/wiki/blog or anything with compiled information with version history (complete/indev), bug info, guides, etc, etc.

I think it would be helpful for the sake of organization. I wouldn't mind helping contributing to content if a wiki is setup.

Also, are there any known issues or benefits using PJ64 1.7 vs 1.6? i.e. should I donate and get PJ64 1.7?

<Off-topic>---------------------------------------------

If anyone is experience or know a better place to post this:

Trying to work with triple monitors:

I'm encountering a couple bugs:

1) Inside Link's house, the texture is stretched (and looks like he's sleeping on floor). Other 3D elements seem to work fine (i.e. outside of house).

2) Start Menu: Equip screen > Link model missing

Seems to be working fine for this guy (he's using PJ64 1.7 tho, not sure what else is different (don't think he's using bezel comp, I gotta try more variables):

My setup:
-PJ64 1.6
-Jabo Direct3D8 1.6
-Enabled Eyefinity (triple monitors in landscape w/ bezel compensation CCC10.10)
-Options > Configure > Fullscreen: (native res)
-Options > Configure > Advanced Tab:Check "Adjust game aspect ratio to match yours"
-Load game

</Off-topic>---------------------------------------------

Thanks

set Project64 to windows vista compatibility, theres some kind of glitch with GlideHQ without it on many systems.

I set to Windows Vista under compatibility.

-Selected None instead of Rice format.
-Pressed 'best' again.
-Loaded game
-Paused game
-Selected Rice and apply compression
-Pressed 'OK'
-Hangs for a while and eventually closes options windows and shows:

LOADING TEXTURES. PLEASE WAIT...
[3539\ total mem:157.07mb - the legend of zelda#f9531911#3#1_all.png

xdyro6.png

-Wait for a whiiiile...eventually, reopened Graphics Options
-Click 'OK' Hang short time
-Now says:

LOADING TEXTURES. PLEASE WAIT...
[3539\ total mem:157.07mb - THE LEGEND OF ZELDA_HIRESTEXTURES.dat

(or something like that, forgot to take screen)

-Wait for a whiiiile
-Checked cache folder (contains THE LEGEND OF ZELDA_HIRESTEXTURES.dat @ 152,408 KB and THE LEGEND OF ZELDA_MEMORYCACHE.dat @ 705 KB):

-Resumed Game, (some?) textures loaded:
-Glitches:

Start Menu:

Tie dye background, missing textures?, ???:

Outside of Link's house:

Wrong texture? (similar to previous poster):

Please help, thanks.

And so far I found another bug, I haven't gotten that far to see if theres anything else with Glide 64 plugin, but heres another bug. I'm pretty sure it's the plugin acting up, cause Mudlord's Rice Video plugin didn't get these problems. The reason I use Glide 64 is cause it doesn't have terrible loading times like Rice video, but the catch for Glide 64 is bug problems, while the catch for Rice Video is terrible loading times.

^same as this guy (but I'm using PJ64 1.6 and Glide64 WIP, LAA, Run as Admin, Vista Compat, etc)

I think Jabo's plugin on PJ64 1.7 beta supports hi-res textures now. I know you need to do a conversion to be in the PJ64 format, any plans?

The Great Gunblade Wielder
the subscreen glitch is a framebuffer effect flaw, and the fairy texture is probably caused by the texture pack compression.

one problem with the texture pack im experiencing is that the sky textures cause hitching whenever they change. ive confirmed this by deleting them and realizing it doesnt happen when theyre gone.

i used batch image resizer to resize them to half, and then 1/4, but they dont line up correctly.

also, where is this forum "moving" to?

@Steftheserb, who and where?
@MaXiMuMMaXiMuS, That is a caching problem/ some of the textures are probably a bit big.

The Great Gunblade Wielder
http://www.emuxhaven.net/forums/index.php is suitable

btw, has anyone noticed Sky Seams issues in the latest Glide64? glidehq itself hasn't changed versions and im using a stock unpacked texture pack but i can notice seams between textures at times where i didn't previously.

seems its a msaa issue

sorry i had posted that i was gonna speak to a friend about moving our pack to his gaming forum i then edited it to say that i'd spoken to him and that he'll let us move there. sorry for the confusion. d--d, you'll have complete control over our own subforum.

here is the link for our subforum and the site http://thegamingforum.org/ I know the owner in real life and he keeps the site very well maintained and updated. there's loads of cool features too, so I think it's a great choice for us

@Squall_leonhart xD i forgot all about emuxhaven.net :p
@Steftheserb, it looks like a great website, the only thing i dont really like is the lack of members, this project lives off of random users coming to it.
If squall and other members agree that your friends forum is a ideal location then we will move there.
