  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

Demon,
Maybe this will help you, it's an ancient guide I wrote: http://www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?t=49468

It's not about the community pack, but all you do is swap Djipi's pack for the community one.

And instead of using the "Current Version" box on the homepage of Glide64 like I originally said on the thread, use the WIP builds which can be found on this thread: http://www.emuxhaven.net/forums/showthread.php?t=7202
thank you for your help

after following your steps I've realized texture modding isnt for me. I must be too retarded lol

This is a very impressive texture pack, but I was wondering if I could help out with this.

I actually did an Ocarina of Time texture pack myself (http://emutalk.net/showthread.php?t=51255) in a colorful, high contrast style that somewhat resembles Skyward Sword's art style, so I do have texture packing experience.

I have been studying and editing many of these textures, and I've found that they look better a bit sharper and with slightly higher brightness and contrast. I've also replaced a few existing textures like Link's hair, Link's face, the Hylian Shield, and a few HUD textures. If I am permitted to assist in this project, I could retexture unedited areas in the game such as Gerudo's Fortress and the Shadow Temple.

I would truly be honored if I could become a member of this project. :)

@phantom7 everybody is allowed to assist in the project, its just whether your work is actually used in the pack is another matter, I would be glad to see another artist working here.

Hi everyone,
I haven't tried to do any of this for a couple of years as I was waiting for a more complete pack like this. I know this one still isn't 100% but it's definitely getting there and thank you everyone for that.

I love OOT so much and want badly to play it all pretty and hires. I even paid for the pj64 beta. Which at this point I think was probably a mistake as they haven't really done much of anything since long before I paid and that was a long time ago.

I may have gotten some kind of value out of it if there had been a way to convert packs like this to use on the beta video plug in but as far as I know that never really surfaced.

So instead I have my pick between about 3 video plug ins and none of them seem to really fully work. I know people work really hard on these things and I appreciate that but by now I would have thought that this process of setting things up wouldn't still be so painful.

I've got win 7 x64 4gb ram phenom 2 x4 and a dx 11 geforce card (768mb I think)

I've tried using the pj64 beta, 1964 1.1 and 9.9
The latest wip glide napalm thing (oct 6 2010 version)
the community rice r75
and I believe the original rice latest version (the old 6 something beta).

So far I have not been able to reliably load this pack.

The napalm plug in with 9.9 1964 worked one time and it was BEAUTIFUL.
But then the next day I started up my pc and tried to run it again and it just decided it's not gonna load any textures at all. Nothing changed... WTF?

One other thing I don't get is why napalm will load master quest with the textures but the other ones won't without doing a batch file rename changing the 'LEGEND OF ZELDA' to 'MASTER QUEST' which is EXTREMELY annoying.

I know I've written this as a summary off the top of my head so it's not word for word accurate, but please trust that I'm using the latest stuff and am at least somewhat competent.

If anyone could help me with this it would be GREATLY appreciated.

one last note: I have read a huge amount of things on this and forums, most of it being a long time ago, but still have spent several hours recently on the new stuff as well, it's just really hard to find answers some times.

Thanks

Glide64 won't load textures that aren't in a folder named the same as the roms internal name, none of the texture packs do.

The latest wip glide napalm thing (oct 6 2010 version) | this does not include the latest WIP GlideHQ file.
also the latest napalm is 17th/10

the texture pack will load fine in glide64 on your system as long as you enable large address aware using the patcher linked elsewhere in this thread on PJ64.

Well I've sorted some of it out.
Seems that if I load oot, then reset the cache settings while in game, then stop oot and load master quest, it will usually work. So apparently there is some kind of glitch that will keep the texture cahce built from oot in memory and apply it to master quest...

I'm looking into getting the latest files. What I got was from the glide 64 site http://www.emuxhaven.net/forums/showthread.php?t=7202

I'll try the pj64 with awareness patch too, but I'm going to guess that it won't work on the beta because of all their security even though I paid.

Used the large address program on my pj64 1.7 exe and when I went to load textures it loaded for a bit 1925 textures loaded then it spit out:
"CN64System::LoadFileImage - Exception caught
File: <directory of pj64 goes here>\source\N64 System\N64
Class.cpp
Line:326"

what glide64 settings are you using, and is pj64 1.7 set to vista sp2 compatibility?

I just got a job at McDonalds, and I'm going to school soon to be a Network Administrator, what I've wanted to do for a career for the past 4 or so years
I had no restaurant or cashiering exp, but I pwned my first time cashiering today :)

As for the project, when I feel like it I'll try to work on it in my spare time, but spare time woln't exist much once I get into school as I'll also be working part time :(
working full time 30 hr a week right now

@Chaoszerox, that's great and bad to hear, great you got a job and are going to school soon to be a Network Administrator but it sucks you will have little spare time to work on this project :| You have being one of the great contributors to this project :) Good luck with your job and school.

@Everyone, if your wondering what I'm doing. I'm slowly going through the Deadulus x64 source code and seeing what enhancements they have done and seeing if there able to be ported back to Rice Video Community version(1964 Video).

@chaszerox like D-D said, thats great and bad news, but we are happy for you. good luck with the job bro : ) i love me some mcdonalds : )

I haven't been here in a while, It seems you guy's are still questioning and working on this terrible texture loading time? i think i addressed this 100 times that everything i tried didn't work. I'm not sure if anyone got a guide that fixes it. Other than that, has there been anything different?

Squall, I seem to have gotten it working.
Still don't know where I can find the LATEST files, but what I have is working now once I got pj64 to work with it correctly.

I'm not using vista 2 compat. Should I be?

Things are quite beautiful btw you guys. This is pretty awesome :)

One strange thing though, long ago when it was 'federelli's and kmans' blah blah
I remember there being a hires version of the golden diamond eye that you hit with sling or arrows in dungeons to open doors and such. seems to be missing. could be a glitch. Also links eyes seem low rez still but maybe I'm just experiencing a glitch or something.

I guess this is the best post for this: footage of the OoT Remake for the 3DS:

Looks like they've really upped the polygons on characters, and actually are redoing all the textures. Got a Djipi vibe from some of them. It looks really really good.

the 3DS does look nice, especially the animation on young link and how he's got that super smash melee look. I just hope I would have enough money to buy a 3DS since the game I'm dieing to buy is Marvel vs Capcom 3.

Hi everyone,

EDIT#1: Appended more stuff to the end.

I just started this today and read the entire forum thoroughly. Here is what I've done:

1) Install PJ64 1.6 and update RDB
2) Applied LAA patch
3) Project64.exe > Right-click > Properties > Compatibility > Run as Admin
4) Extracted hi-res pack THE LEGEND OF ZELDA to Project64 1.6 > Plugin > hires_texture
5) Glide64.dll, Glide64.ini, and GlideHQ.dll in > Plugin
6) glide3x.dll in > Project64 1.6
7) THE LEGEND OF ZELDA.z64 in > Project64 1.6
8) Launch PJ64 and refresh rom browser
9) Options > Settings > Video plugin: Glide64 'Napalm WX' WIP Date: Oct 6, 2010
10) Options > Config Graphic >
-Set Full screen res: 1680x1050 32bpp 60Hz
-Uncheck Autodetect, VRAM 1024 Mb (I'm using Radeon 5870 1GB HD-587A-ZNF9, Catalyst 10.10)
-Check Show advanced emu options and Show texture enhancement options
-Click OK
11) Options > Config Graphics > Texture Enhancement > Clicked Best texture quality and click 'OK'
12) Start Game
13) Pause Game
14) Options > Config Graphics > Texture enhancement:
-Format: Rice format
-Checked Apply texture compression
-Click 'OK' (No apparent behavior)
15) Options > Config Graphics > Click 'OK'
16) Resume Game

Results:
-No apparent behavior (i.e. don't see any progress indicator suggesting loading of textures)
-If Format: Rice and then Start game > Project64 crashes.

<EDIT#1>--------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Tried using PJ64 and 1964 with various flavors of Rice and Glide64:
1) Textures load well on PJ64 but occasionally hiccups (e.g. sky color transition at title screen).
2) In 1964 there are many graphical glitches (e.g. title screen logo looks 'interlaced')
**3) Main annoyance: **Start Menu Glitch** - lags severely when going into start menu, background changes to inside Link's hut in Kokiri Village, on the equip screen, where Link's model should be, is instead some scrambled textures (can make out part of the Hyrulian shield). This glitch is present regardless of hi-res textures being loaded or not.

-Tried default Jabo Direct3D8 1.6 Plugin: No Start Menu Glitch
-Tried Glide64 plugin in PJ64 (w/o hi-res textures loaded since I can't figure out how to get them): No Start Menu Glitch

<Off-topic>---------------------------------------------
Now for FUN:

-No Hi-Res textures
-Default Jabo Direct3D8 1.6 plugin
-Enable Eyefinity (triple monitors in landscape)
-Fullscreen: (Eyefinity res with bezel correction)
-Options > Configure > Advanced Tab:Check "Adjust game aspect ratio to match yours"
-Load game

Result: WHAT?! OOT has better triple monitor support than most modern games! Runs Hor+, centered HUD, and minimal stretching and nearly perfect FOV.

</Off-topic>---------------------------------------------

</EDIT#1>--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Full System Specs:
AMD Phenom II X4
AMD Radeon HD 5870 1GB
4GB RAM
Windows 7 x64

Please help, thanks.
