Actually, I think they were most for playing old games. But who knows?
And meh to your statement. I won't argue because it won't lead to anywhere.

According to the eurogamer interview, they were for playing old games AND ports.

I cannot verify whether it is fake or real, but the way he writes is certainly vivid and credible enough. It doesn't sound like a whole lot of hyperbole - I do believe the controller may be able to do these things.

If controlling Link in future Rev games is anything like he described it, then I sincerely believe that Nintendo has a winner here.
