Project64 1.6 Released!

I tried the RDRAM option and still no dice, must be something preventing the effect from working. It's weird since Jabo has motion blur working in other games just fine.

Played the game with glN64() and a lot of it worked (including the blur-in to the title screen), although it causes problems and freezes the game quite a bit unless you disable the framebuffer. Glide64 should also support the motion blur on a Glide-enabled video card (effect not supported by wrappers). By playing with Rice's settings, you can see the effect but it looks to be displayed wrong and is slow.

Title screen motion blur:
Shot #1: glN64() 0.4/0.41
Shot #2: Jabo's D3D8 1.6 with the framebuffer enabled in advanced settings

Odd... at the very least you should be getting some low-res garbage. That's what happens to me when a motion blur effect occurs (at least I think its a motion blur effect).

It's an image that looks correct but its staggered diagonally (assuming this is motion blur done improperly) and doesnt clear up until the effect is completely finished.

Thanks for the heads up on gln64, I'll check it out and see if what I'm assuming is a motion blur effect is actually motion blur or just another framebuffer related effect thats not emulated.

dood, that's awsome! How does it work? It doesn't look like its stretching the image. Are you getting a wider fov?

Goldeneye along with PD has it's own Widescreen mode. So just set it to Widescreen, then use the Widescreen aspect ratio in Jabos plugin.

Did I register at this site just to post my delight at a new version of PJ64?

... yes. Yes, I did.

Thank you for continuing your hard work on this project. I can't wait to go home and give it a try! This will probably keep me satiated until I learn just how much emulation the new Nintendo console will actually support.

Precisely. All other games are stretched, but GE and PD have widescreen modes built in... more proof of Rare's forward thinking and overall awesomeness. For the record, I can use nearly any plugin and still get widescreen resolutions, not just Jabo's.

I wish there was a way to record game footage into a movie file... it's so cool...

I just couldn't download your program without saying a huge THANKS.

I've been following N64 emulation since the first time I recieved one years ago.... i think it only played SM64, but once I finally got it working I was blown away.

Since then there have been ups and downs......more ups than downs but there were still downs.

When I first discovered project64 I was extremely impressed, but later went over to 1964 because the games just seemed to run a little better, and more of them ran.

It was by fluke that I noticed someone said on another board last night 'i downloaded project64 1.6'. I thought it was a misprint on their part but followed it up anyway.

Lo and behold, 1.6 does exist and without using anything other than default settings, i took it for a whirl with my 15 images.

I started with Conker......Whoa!!! Full shadow effects, beautiful framerate, audio that doesn't skip or chop up at all!!..... basically what i'd call 100% emulation.

Well bloody done.

My testing went on to Banjo Kazooie/Tooie.......perfect
Goldeneye....... missing sky but gameplay was perfect
Dr Mario.......actually works properly now
Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire....... flickers, and a bit quick.....but you still have it working with no multicoloured textures
Cruisin USA/World/Exotica......perfect excpet brake lights don't light up on USA
WWF Wrestlemania 2000/no mercy....perfect except the intro to No mercy....killer framerate though

The list goes on.... it was me being impressed over and over again. It felt like N64 had finally been emulated. Really emulated.

My specs for running this are:
CPU: Athlon 3000+ barton [email protected]
RAM: 1.5 gig of pc 2700 DDR
VIDEO: 128mb Radeon 9800pro
SOUND: Hercules Fortissimo 7.1

and I couldn't have asked for a better N64 emulation experience.

Thanks very much Zilmar, Jabo, Smiff, Gent, Tooie, Witten, RadeonUser, TrotterW and Pixi for being part of such a fantastic release.

Only error I found is this. I configured my controler using settings within P64, remapping them. I tried to push two buttons at the same time and the program freezes! I kept doing this again to be sure. I experienced this using TOROK. Mabey I should try Darkman's plugin for mouse support. Only if I can find it!

I just had to thank you all for making an N64 emulator that will actually run smooth & have sound! Ive tried every emu i could find and none would play a game with sound that was tolerable. This new release is AWESOME! Ive been playing it all night *mumbles 4 letter words thinking of work tomorrow*
Anyway... thanks so much for making the new release and giving me a true N64 gaming experience! The graphics are also freakin sweet!

I don't think you're allowed to ask that.

I don't know if it's been said already, but I get lots of graphics errors when I try to play Conkers BFD in 1.6, but it works ok in 1.5. De graphics don't look the way they should, either.
