What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart

Seems a little blurry. Oh well. I can see why some might like I_love_Link's texture better, it's less stretched, but I'm not sure I completely like it better. Thanks for taking part in this great, great project of Djipi's though. And Djipi, thanks for doing the Action Icons. w00t!

Kiggles - Why not edit the textures and post to let us see what you can do? I like Djipi's stuff, but if you can come up with some viable alternatives, that might be fun, too. I love a good game of mix and match...

I really don't want a huge variety of alt textures out there. We will already have a couple LoZ texture packs as it is. If we have a few that are similarly themed, well, it's just going to be a pain. Esspecially since we can't select texture packs with Rice. Maybe that will change in the future, but right now having to completely replace textures outright is one hell of a pain in the ass. I might do some alt textures for characters, or items. THOSE could be fun. Which reminds me... has no one made a mirror shield yet? Think I'll give it a go. Maybe make some neat looking power gloves, too. :D (always loved the l00t in Zelda games)

No offence taken, Djipi. You deffinitely had reason behind the design choices you made, and while I may not agree with all of them, I certainly respect 'em. :)

Thanks Djipi! I like it! I knew just that small change would make the sheild look better for me! And I'm inclined to agree with you on the grass. It's much more Wind Wakerish the way it is.

No Problem Googol! I really like this project and I want to see it look as close to Wind Waker in design as possible. And I really like your shield too, it has a certain something, nice designs, especially considering they were done from scratch!

Djipi did an excellent job on the shield, so did The Dave, then my shield, I_love_Link's improvement on Djipi's... and then Kerber2k's shield.
Kerber, your shield is cool. I attached an ingame screenie for anyone who wants to see it first. I don't think it fits in as well as Djipi's though, or even mine, but a cool shield nonetheless.
I_love_Link - you did a good job on the shield adjustment back there. I'd like to see an original design from you; it could be good. You don't have to do it, obviously, but it's just a thought.
And Djipi, I want an assignment! I know you haven't actually seen my earlier question, but hey, I want to do SOMETHING! So I'll work a bit on the Spirit Temple - even if you're doing it at the moment - just to do while i'm waiting.

ok let me explicate why i change my shield to the new one :
In the graveyard you find hyrule shield in 3D , i look like my new hyrule shield and not my remake hyrule shield . For not making this scene strange , i MUST keep the original design of the shield because if you see a shield that you have find and when you use it he has an other design , for me it's strange . so i will use the original design for hyrule shield. But if you want to use an other shield no problem .

Googol , i appreciate your help . i would like to know if you can make effectively spirit temple because i don't like this temple . Make all the texture and if i would like to modify one or two , i will can with your work. I work on the water temple . Your texture is great and the improvment is very easy. Thanks a lot for your help.

And thanks everybody for your congrats.

How can you not like the Spirit Temple? :p
Yeah, I'll try it. The Spirit Temple is absolutely full of bevel effects, so expect a whole bunch of "it looks like you just filtered that" textures. If you don't like the original style of the Spirit Temple, you could perhaps edit some of the textures; unfortunately for you, I really really like the Spirit Temple and its art style, so it's most likely that i'll stick a little too closely to it for your liking. Oh well.
And I understand why you want to change it now; I could try and change the skin of the 3d-ised shield to see if I could make a ww-style Hylian Shield that works both ways. It might not work, but it'll be an interesting side work to the Spirit Temple.
On a preference note, I really hate the Shadow Temple. So, i'll probably avoid doing it, and do Ganon's Tower instead as my third project. See y'all later!

Djipi, good point about the sheild I didn't even think about that!

Also, has anyone thought about remaking the spirit temple purely from the dumped WW textures, or at least use them as a starting point? I don't think it would be a bad idea to consider it, the rest of the game really looks great so far, and that all pretty much consists of WW and modified WW textures. But then you have things like the godess statues to worry about. But it should at least be okay for the rest.

Unfortunately it's more likely that this project will be done with before Gamecube emulation reaches a point where one would be even able to reach the temple you're referring to. Using the newest version of Dolphin
(1.02 or something) you can dump textures, but the problem remains that the emulator crashes Wind Waker right after you acquire your first item (which would be the telescope).
One of the Paper Mario retexture projects was pretty much based around using the Gamecube sequel's textures, and I guess they gave up when they realized Dolphin crashes before you even enter the first battle.

Hmm, but Djipi managed to get a few textures out somehow. Like there is a brick texture I see he used that couldn't have been gotten until you get to windfall. Maybe he has a secret? How does dumping textures even work anyway? Does the emulator only dump the textures from the current environment? Can anyone explain how this works in the dolphin emulator?

I believe Djipi has been making his own textures from scratch. He may have been using screen shots of certain locations, but ultimately, he will only be using these as templates, which he will clean up and edit manually.

I could be wrong about this, however.

That's what I thought at first, but the textures seemed so WW-like.
I haven't done enough on the Spirit Temple yet to warrant screenshots, 'real life' has been plaguing me again. To help me make my textures more 'Djipi-like', would you be able to tell us your method in a lot more detail? Perhaps, even w/pictures? E.g. a progression of a texture at each step or something. I tend to be a fast learner, so this could really help. If you can't, then oh well.
