I like the second water temple pic below more than the first.

Everything else is shaping up really amazing Djipi. Ganondorf looks fantastic too!

when you think about it...wind waker wasn't just flat colors, either, there were areas where it had a little bit of depth to it. The whole cel-shading concept is simple colors and shading, but it looks really bad if it is just that. We don't want to be going too simple. Keep up the good work guys.

I agree that the deku tree was too dark, but I was more concerned with the ground texture (looks like asphalt) than I was with the wall texture (looked rather wood-like). I do like your editing of the pillars, definitely =)

little update (as you can see i change my hyrule shield to a real hyrule shield cel (thanks thedave))

MUCH better. Funky door, Djipi... but I like your old shield better. Maybe you could funkify the hyrule shield a bit by making it a bit more ww-ish than the original, while still keeping the original feel to it. I might give it a go, actually. Oh, and sorry about the delays for the dumped textures, some stuff's been going on in that little thing called 'real life'. I'll have no life for a while from now, so progress should be greatly quickened in the next week or two.

EDIT: On further inspection of the new textures, they seem to be a bit less crisp - a bit too blurred, especially the door. Maybe I could help by re-crispifying the new textures, while still keeping that 'Djipi' feeling to them. Hell, I've got the time, so why not try? I'll see you later.

hmmm, well...I think that the new water temple textures are a bit too flat. It seems to look like it was simply painted in on Paint. A bit too rushed i guess. Doing a good job, just minor details needs a little work with the new stuff. Keep it up.

I tried a ww-style cel shield, keeping it closer to the original texture. It needs a bit more work, but it's not too bad at all.
Amon_Knives, I know what you're saying, but I seem to have an allergy to actually working harder than I already am. :p
I could actually try to improve more of my textures, Djipi seems to be better a Wind-Waker-ising textures than me - probably because he can rip the textures from Dolphin. But oh well.

Googol, your textures here are all linish and flat. If you examine windwaker a bit more closely, you will see that the textures have more 'texture' than this.

Djipi, I'm sorry to see the Wind Waker sheild go, all it needed was to make the swirls and bird a little longer and it would have been perfect. But this old style sheild looks good too.
Everything in your water temple looks beautiful, maybe though give the stone walls the same texture as the 'rock' from wind waker that is used on the islands. I love your doors and all the designs, but I am a bit confused about the large floor tiles, the wall plaques and those big things with the X's and tears on them. They look like Googol's stuff, a little to liney.

Good work guys, keep it up now!

Actually, they're edited versions of my stuff. That's why it looks a bit like my stuff. I hate some of my textures, like the wall plaques, but there's not that much else to be done. Djipi has a lot of reference with WW, I don't - some of his stuff is, in effect, ripped from WW. I try to make them from scratch, which is a lot harder. But Djipi does so a better job with WW-ising the game as I have said before. Think of me as more of an 'apprentice' to Djipi - I get better as I go on.
Now, on a less sour note, I finally got around to dumping some of the Action Icons and Lon Lon Ranch. The Lon Lon Ranch dump is just a dump of as much of Lon Lon as I can find. I didn't bother to seperate the useful textures from the non-useful (unlike the Action Icons) so be patient when finding the textures you need.
EDIT: I noticed that some people (other than Djipi) are actually dowloading these. These are DUMPS. There are NO remade textures in here; these are for Djipi to remake. Also, I improved my shield an tiny bit - here's a screen. Is it better than my 'first draft'?

hmm... I do think your shield is a pretty cool starting point, googol. With some more depth, I think it would be pretty kick-ass.

ragnor, your post sprung up while I was editing the above post. I see what you mean; I started on the depth thing with my shield update. You've been helpful with your constuctive criticism, thanks. Also thanks to I_love_Link, my greatest critic. Hopefully, I'll become better at this stuff from you guys.

I really appreciate that you are working from scratch Googol, and I think that is just great. I also appreciate it is much harder than just dumping textures from WW and using those.

I am just requesting that you really examine the Wind Waker textures very closely, before you try to make your own. If you want this to have the same style as WW (which is what I understand the aim of this project to be, it's about replication) then that is what you have to do.

And as I keep saying, this project is improving, so keep the improvements coming! I'm just trying to point out things that I think will help you improve faster. That's what we're all trying to do isn't it? So please don't be bitter, it'll just make you want to quit, and none of us want that!

Googol, I really admire you for putting your hand up and dedicating your time to this, it's more than I have done! You're awesome :)

Thanks I_love_Link. I didn't mean to come off as bitter - sorry if I did. Like I said, your constructive criticism helps me improve quicker.
And I've added even MORE depth to the shield. I think this is the best look for my shield, actually, so I've put it up for download if anyone wants it.

googol, sweet job on the shield, man. Has a lot more depth. Yours is really good too, Djipi. I might even get off my fat ass and play with them both and see if I can make anything cool to contribute, since I don't have work all week.

Haha, even with my edit some people are STILL downloading my dumps!
Djipi - Finally. That shield kicks major ass, thanks for putting it up. And ragnor, thanks. I'd really like to see what you could do - I didn't have any experience with cel-shading previously, and look how that shield turned out. Any more areas I could work on, Djipi?

Okay, I decided to take a stab at this texture thing :) Just because I felt bad for criticising and not taking part. I really liked the new WW style sheild, so I took the texture from above and tweaked it a little in fireworks. Can Googol or Djipi or someone put this into their game a put up a screenshot? See if this works better:

Hey, Djipi. GREAT work on this texture conversion pack. You're doing a truely phenomenal job. So far, the only issue I have thus far is the flat grass textures, and segues between floor/wall. It apears particularly bad in Kokiri village, and I haven't even seen Hyrule Field, or the Castle Grounds, yet. The low contrast, simple grain effect you have doesn't produce enough variety, nor do I feel it fits the theme.

No offence. You've undertaken a HUGE project, and what you have accomplished is by no means anything to scoff at. SO, I made a quick WW themed grass texture for you to consider. You can use it as is, or modify it however you want. Of course, the option to not use at all and keep what you have is always an available option, since I am only offering a suggestion. :)

I can fine tune your kokiri wall, fence, building textures fi you would like. Currently, the grass seems to creep up the rock face too far, and it makes the floor (grass) look painfully artificial, while there is no grass growing on the face of buildings fences, or other verticle surfaces.

Again, you are doing a positively amazing job, so don't take this critique negatively. Just throwing in my 0.02 to encourage this texture pack along.

I would be more than happy to put together more textures if there is anything in particular you would like done.
