What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

Hey Djipi amazing work.

My only critique is that you made child Link "smiling" when in the original textures he is never smiling, he is more like innocent looking yes, but NOT smiling. To me this is hugely important, is like the soul of the entire game.

Edit: I opened the package and change the mouth texture so it doesn't look like Link is smiling now, I also added my own Deku shield.

Anyone interested can check it out is in the attachments files.

Also, to me. the game runs better and bug free using Glide 64 Final.

How can i load the files into the .htc texture file?

How to unpack an htc file? I want to use the pack with glide64-mk2, but it doesn't load htc file.

EDIT: ok, the pack is loading with glide64mk2, but in game textures are not changed, still lo-res (hi-res is enabled in config).

EDIT: tried rice, it seems pack only works if the option to pick textures only by crc (ignoring format etc.) is enabled. I didn't find such option in glide64-mk2, anyone was able to use this pack with that plugin?

Zelda Hi-Res Texturer
Ok...

Here's a PM i have recieve today :

I've been keeping quiet about this out of respect for your work, but now I'm not going to anymore.

I think your inability to release your work on your recent texture packs is inherently wrong. Especially since the grand majority of the work isn't even yours. In addition, There's quite a few textures (namely from the OOT Community Retexture) that you're also including in your pack.

So, I'm giving you a few options. Release your texture pack without your DRM and I'll let it slide. Otherwise, you should, at the very least, remove the offending textures from the community retexture pack. If you don't, I'm going to call you out on it on your threads. As it is, your flagrantly plagiarizing work that you are erroneously naming as your own. I'm astounded that no one else realizes this, and as it is, I can sum up more than enough proof to support this.

I really don't mean to disrespect you. Believe me, I really enjoy your work. Especially with the Cel-shading texture packs (Which I have no problem with, that clearly is your own work). But you can understand my position. As the Community Retexture Pack textures in particular are not yours. (And I recognize them when I see them, as I've played through it a multitude of times with it)

************************************************

As you can see , and i thinks everybody here know that , all my work is not my texture but nintendo texture 3DS. I think i was clear that MY WORK is redone the size , color , adjust texture for the N64 game.... But with this PM, i realise that some people don't know that. Plus as you can see, this person see OOT community texture pack , yeah it's true , it's written at the first page.

So maybe i'm tired to listen or read things about my work. I decided to stop emulation pack. So if people want to uncompressed and use it , simply do it, never minds. I have done this pack only FOR YOU, and i thinks this MP is the one who tell me : i must stop make people happy.

So sorry, if you like or love the pack , you can play with it ^^ but now the adventure of retexturing is finish for me.

For what it is worth, I am happy for Djipi to include the texture work I have done with him in the past, like the submenus etc

I do recommend the next time people release a texture pack which disallows remixing to use a license which prohibits remixing and allows for distribution. Obfuscating your work is no solution - picking a proper license is.

It's recommendations like that which caused Djipi to stop working on these packs. Is it so hard to respect his wishes?

Maybe you should spend some time educating yourself about copyright. As an author, you assign a license to your work to protect yourself and to transfer rights to others. How would this go against Djipi's wishes? All it does is make sure his work is protected and it clarifies what rights are granted to people.

If you're so worried about copyright, why are you on an emulation site anyway? It's unbelievable that it's gotten to the point that the biggest contributor to this site left because this kind of pissing match. By the way, I also contributed a few textures to his original OOT pack, but I never asked for or cared for any credit for them. I was honored he thought them good enough to include. I also used some of his textures in my paper mario pack, and he was ok with that too.

You guys are quite the hostile bunch. I previously had quite favorable views of you guys. Reverse engineering of hardware and emulation development is legal. My advice hopes to clear up the issue with texture packs by creating a legal basis by which you can force people to comply. Then it's not about wishes, or respecting the feelings of people. It's then about respecting works on a legal basis.

Ever wondered what happens with code and assets from a public repository without a license? You don't get to use them because you don't have permission. These days there are lawyers out there who do work for free to make sure the internet stays freely accessible. And if you consider that a nuisance you are just choosing to stay ignorant out of convenience (with obviously detrimental effects in the emulation scene). We already lost work from people early on in the emulation scene because people weren't interested in educating themselves about copyright and licensing.

One could also force users to comply by locking the files into a DAT or HTC that can only be read by a specific plugin. /Solved
