Shall I point out that GTA3 isn't coming to the `Cube because Sony threw lots of money Rockstars way during development to "secure" the game as an exclusive..? Not a lot that could be done about that really. There are rumblings of MGS (possibly the most overrated series ever unless you like cut scenes. A lot. And are thus Square.)coming out, but it'd be no great loss like any of the worthwhile NGC titles are.
* crhylove thinks dude takes all this stuff way too seriously. we're talking about games here. but yeah, fan boyism does get annoying, especially when it's just plain UNDEFENDABLE as in stalkid's xbox hatred.
I've defended it numerous times. It simply is rapidly becoming a huge flop in Japan and Europe, and is in 3rd place behind PS2 and NGC in Japan (wasn't GBA even outselling it at one point?)
Why? Because people aren't buying it. Why? Because aside from the ugly design, damn uncomfortable controller, and MAME project aside there are no real must-buy games even due out. You call Simpsons Road Rage - universally acknowledged limited-appeal Crazy Taxi rip off from franchise merchants EA - a good game? Go out and play Crazy Taxi 2 for the DC and see how it should be done.
but yeah, nintendo will put out better games than MS will. MS doesn't have an einstein in their xbox dev dept. nintendo does.
You accept that Nintendo will have the best quality games... but the XBox is still better? How exactly does that work right as a games console?
XBox is failing miserably to do anything, even after the price cut. That's factual evidence that it isn't good. I've played it many times as part of my work, and still do on occasion, but I don;t choose to play it in my free time because I don't rate any of the games highly at all. That's what an informed opinion is based on, factual evidence backing up personal experience.
One year on, the thing still has exactly one "great" game. One year on, Microsoft are finally realising something is wrong that it isn't selling. And it ain't piracy as much as they try to blame that. Their solution of buying up established developers shows that point rather well - a point that Microsoft have obviously accepted themselves, and good on them for that part of it. They haven't made any great games, or attracted anyone who has as of yet. But Microsoft buys Rare and as little as a week later the world shrugs indifferently. A year is a long time in the life of a console, as the N64 showed. Microsoft should have worked more on getting games together for the `Box. They didn't. They sat back, counted their money and said "Hey, lets throw this all on advertising and let others make the games! It worked for the PS didn't it?". Nintendo on the other hand focus as always on the games, because they know that's what will make them money. Deny that if you can.
I'm still waiting for any evidence at all that demonstrates the XBox is a viable worthwhile console after one year. I had that within a month for my DreamCast. Even for my Atari Jaguar.
Again, and apparently unconrovertably if this lack of any factual evidence for the Xbox cause continues, I give you... "The XBox Problem" [t.m.]
