  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

@Chaoszerox - Congrats on getting close to completing the Spirit Temple, that's great!

I don't mean to be a party-pooper here, but I really think it's a good idea to wait on finishing the Spirit Temple before doing *any* work on the Shadow Temple. Maybe I'm just projecting my own limitations on others, but from my personal experience, switching around between different areas "mid-coitus" is well..... just like it sounds. You can can loose your sense of direction. :)

Maybe a good idea to save it until after you're finished with the Spirit Temple. You never know when someone else may decide to jump in (hint hint Death--Droid, DCS78, Lewa, etc) :)

EDIT: BTW, that screenshot you posted of those carvings looks hauntingly realistic. Kinda spooky, with a "corpse light" effect almost as if it was made with an evil incantation. Not sure if it fits with the Spirit Temple, but besides that, I likey :)

IanSkelskey!!! Welcome back!

I'm not one to delegate out work, but.... There's plenty to do :)

Pretty much whatever you're interested in. Secret grottos, old woman's potion shop, hyrule shooting gallery / bombchu bowling alley, or my personal favorite: game effects! Ya know, stuff like fire (which was recently re-done but my personal opinion is that it could be much better), damage explosions, bomb explosions, blocking sparks, splashing water, ect ect.

Honestly, there has been nearly *zero* work done on in-game effects. Whether they're pseudo-animation effects (such as fire) or true animation effects (such as damage explosions).

But hey, who am I? Death--Droid may have a better idea of what you'd like to work on, but ultimately the choice is yours. Good to see you back!

That sounds like a texture from Shadow Temple based on your description...
But I will focus mainly on Spirit Temple, don't worry =]

Has anyone used www.flickr.com before? I've found it's an EXCELLENT source for base pictures! Give it a try! Make sure you order by relevancy(not the default) and click 'all sizes' on the page of that particular picture, then original, and download original ;p It's all 100% free with no account req.

I've done that rusty chain from Shadow Temple. Remember, it gets it's color in-game, the texture itself is de-saturated. It's actually 64x, but I think I'll be reducing it to at least 32x in the final version.

Version 2 with bevel and emboss

Going to get back on the main walls of Spirit Temple now, they really could use a MUCH better base texture...More soon

Welcome back IanSkelskey, just get started on something that takes your interest, and that hasn't already been done. Good luck

Keep up the good work everyone.
Haven't found anything wrong with peoples latest textures
@IanSkelskey it would be awesome if you could try out working on the effects. The only effect done so far is the fire effect.

Main wall texture v3 - Spirit Temple

Original
http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff70/num1narutofan/ver0-1.jpg

Version 2 (really old, one of my first textures)
http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff70/num1narutofan/ver2-1.jpg

Version 3 (new)
http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff70/num1narutofan/ver3.jpg

I think overall v3 is much better. One of my goals was to make each 1/4 of the texture(each block) LOOK like it was cut from blocks of the same stone. Imagine gigantic blocks, cut into smaller one's and arranged like so....That's my idea anyway...Which if approved, I will use on the other textures that use the same base.
LOL @ my taskbar in v3 pic. I'm using Win Xp BTW, hopefully tuesday(my B-day) I'll get enough money to buy a new mobo for my old, much better, but dead comp running Vista.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
er...maybe my past post wasn't clear enough. Both v1 and v2 are the same except texture, but v2 has bevel and emboss, v1 does not. It's better with it, right????? If so does it need to be adjusted?

Hi, I made some eyes for link... Just wondering if I should do the rest of the frames if you guys want them for the pack or not...

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c356/CoolGuitar/linkeyes.jpg
I actually burst out in amazement!!!!!! YES PLEASE DO THEM ALL! A++ work!! Much better than the current eyes, which are too...sharp and mean looking, your's are freaking awesome!

Thanks  I used a new technique to get the original coloration. Working on the other pics that use that base picture now...

@AaronLite - OMG those eyes are amazing! Looks just like the originals, yet super highrez with awesome detailing. Yes, if you're willing and able to do all the eye expressions, then that would be an incredible addition to the pack! My only suggestion would be to make the eyebrows a little more sharp and whispy, rather than full and bushy. But that's really just knit-picking.

@Chaoszerox - your latest pics are awesome.

@Death--Droid - I'll bust up those stone faces soon, but you'll have to be the one to tell my wife she was wrong LOL :)

A few minor textures to finish up in the current room before I backtrack to the stone faces and the lava. But the main wall texture has been bugging me. Even at 32X with fine detailing, it still looks a little too pixelated. In this dungeon, that texture is majorly over-used. Super stretched against the walls. So I re-did it with an ultra-hi-rez base picture (was 3000X2000) so now it can be 64X. This is my first 64X texture :) 2048X2048

I like version2 better, but wanted opinions before moving on.

V1 (32X version): http://i977.photobucket.com/albums/ae258/zeckron00001/FireTemple16.jpg

V2 (64X version): http://i977.photobucket.com/albums/ae258/zeckron00001/FireTemple17.jpg

Sidenote: those pillars in the foreground are a WIP, but I'm liking them so far.

@Zeckron--v2 FTW. Also, lol about bring marital relations into the community... but I def wouldn't want to get in the middle of that one. But it's awesome that your wife is getting involved!

@AaronLite--adding my voice to the "do the eyes, do the eyes!!" choir. Awesome work!

@death--droid--am I to take it that you're OK with those Water Temple textures now? Or should I still be adding detail to them ('cause I really have no idea what detail to add... other than changing the base textures, which I can do for a modest fee :p)

@Chaos--sent you a PM...

@KrazyTrumpeter&Chieftain - Thanks! Glad you agree that it's better.

@Death--Droid - I tried to distress those stone faces. In theory, it sounds like a simple task. But in practice it turned out to look like dookie! Soooo, I'm going to put it on the backburner for now, and come back to it after I've read up on some techniques I haven't tried yet.

Also Chieftain, check out the new lava (all thanks to you sir, for linking that awesome tutorial). It's 64X, so the level of detail really helps.

I have just the slightest bit of an issue with seamless tiling as per that screenshot. Honestly I hadn't noticed it until just now... I'll fix.

There's an overlay used for the lava somewhere. I just can't find it. When you're playing in-game, you can just barely see a hint of a shading overlay moving in a perpendicular direction.

Can we please see a release or hires screenshots? I really can't judge based on 640 x 480 screenshots -_-

Much better! Besides too much white highlights it's perfect!. They made it look almost plastic. Also what if you took advantage of that overlay and made it look like flowing lava? is it possible?

Here's the new version of...unnamed texture A

Comments? Which version of the shadow is better?

EDIT:
@Zeckron I found your mystery texture. These 2 make up the lava.

@Zeckron v2 looks a lot better for the sides. Also the lava looks a lot better, I didn't notice any tiling problems in that screenshot.

If its really hard that don't worry about it, i was just looking for things to add more detail in it
@Chieftain459
nice textures, but i personally think the need more detail in them since they seem to be lacking in some sort of detail in some areas.
I replied to it before Chieftain459 :)
Also it may help out if you posted a larger screenshot.

@chaoszerox I prefer Version 2 with a medium shadow.

@death--droid--please see the other two times SINCE THEN that I asked about it :p:

@death--droid--as far as "more detail," I'm not sure what other detail I can add. If you can be more specific, that would be nice.

@death--droid--please see my post on the previous page, I would kinda like an answer before I go any further... so I know what sort of detail you're looking for in these (and future) textures.

I want to know what you're looking for, but you keep not responding to my posts.

Edit: I'll upload larger screens later, don't have time right now.
