What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

Awesome thanks for that Chaoszerox, can't wait till you upload them, It may actually make me bothered to work on character textures.

I challenge someone to dump these textures (not sure if it's 1 or 2), something I could not do after ~ an hour of trying....target textures are circled in yellow, and are his legs and beard. This is kakariko village, the "boss of the carpenters". I'm beginning to think it's impossible to dump...

On an unrelated note, I read some very interesting stuff here, project related, particularly the shield part under 'Cartridge Versions'

K guys, im running into a bit of problems. Rendering the side view of links house (or any other side view background) is giving me a hard time. Here is a comparison between the original and my rendered version:
1hsh.png

I used a panorama lens for my camera in maya but its not rendering correctly. Rendering out individual sides manually and then stitching it in photoshop would probably work,, but wouldnt be very accurate. If anyone has a solution, please tell me. I will upload the maya scene files or export it to an obj is anyone wants to try it in another software.

Anyways, this is close to the final version:

in-game the textured are rendered into a box, not a circle. so taking 4 pictures from the middle is the god way to go. (enable wireframes in your emulator and take a look for yourself)

I'm having trouble doing the same with all the status icons. :\ At first I thought it was a time thing, like just letting the program sit at the status screens for awhile, taking in the textures, but specific ones still won't dump. I'll work on the ones that I do have for now, and cleaning up some of the good ones I like but think they need touch-ups.

Also chaos, you didn't know about the versions? Yeah, for the most part, the game was untouched, the only thing that they were forced to changed in two subsequent version updates because of their (super cereal sarcasm) obvious relation to Muslim religious practices.

I have some quick question that I couldn't find anywhere, if anyone can answer.

Is there an updated pack with the latest textures that were made?

I read in the video plugin thread that there are some defined end for the texture names, like *_a *_rgb etc., but in the pack there are a lot of textures with *_ciByRGBA at the end and with an 'unsigned long' before it. What is it?

I also read the definition of the numbers in part 3 and 4 of the name. Do those numbers in the hi-res textures have to be the same as on the original textures? Or they must reflect the way the hi-res was created?

Is there a pack with the origial textures to be downloaded? Instead of everyone that needs having to replay everything to dump it?

If any question is not clear, let me know that I'll try to make it better.

The most up-to date official version of the Zelda OoT Community Retexture Project is on the first post, v4. v5 should be comming out not too long from now if the contributions continue, it was actually already suppose to come out, but was post-poned til more new textures are made.

I don't understand this part, but don't go messing with the filenames or the textures WILL NOT LOAD

The orginal textures are dumped, and the dimensions are both multiplied by the same number, a multiplyer of 2,4,8,16, or 32. Higher is supported, but doesn't work out. From the dumped textures the FILE NAMES ARE NEVER CHANGED
My suggested final result multiplyers are 8x, 16x, or 32x, really depending on the kind of texture, and if there are any aliasing problems with the texture. ALL OF YOUR SOURCE WORK SHOULD ALWAYS BE DONE IN AT LEAST 8X, but I do all mine in 16 or 32

there is no 100% complete, perfect dump as of my knowledge, it's safest, and easiest to just dump them yourself. You're going to be spending a hell of a lot more time working on the textures than dumping them.

also Fak if you want some personalized help my contacts are in my sig.
P.S. here's an update with the new 100% complete dumps I have
old man inside lakeside laboratory
legit 'BEAN' seller
Fishing man from fishing hole
scarecrow (has 1 un-dumpable texture, it's hat)

What I meant was that in the video plugin's thread, I read the the textures file names should end with "_a", "_rgb" or "_all" (except for the extension, of course). But in the pack, at least the one that I downloaded from http://www.n64redux.com/, there are several textures that the name ends with "_ciByRGBA", wich I don't know what it means.

I'm downloading pack v4, but that will take some time. I'll take a look at it, but from v3, I imagine the textures are not opmized. That can realy reduce texture size and I imagine it would load faster too.

That is incorrect, where did you read that? The textures have to have one of these definitions "_a", "_rgb", "_all" or "_ciByRGBA" and one of the following extensions, ".png", ".bmp". Use to also be ".jpg" for Rice Video but it was removed because it was never used and the format has image quality loss problems.

For the un-dumpable textures; Is there at least any way to discern its name and/or dimensions, so we can at least replace it with the patch? T.T Like I said myself, I do have almost everything, but some stuff is only ripping at different times. A good example is some stuff will only weirdly dump when Link is either Adult or Child. Try that for the hat if you haven't.

ciByRGBA = color index By Red Green Blue Alpha

Also Mupen64 Rice Video uses ciByRGBA as well, and I'm pretty sure Glide64 does as well since they all pretty much use the same format for image dumping and loading.

Got a small problem. I've cleaned up quite a few icons for the game, but when I go view them on the game itself it doesn't show up at all, it just shows the originals. Now this isn't to say everything looks old, just some of the stuff. And it isn't limited to my edits either, since most of them are showing fine, and some of the ones I haven't touched are doing this. Any ideas why, and how to fix the problem?

EDIT: I just realized... would it be because the image names aren't binded yet with the code for replacement? I seriously don't know how you guys do it, but I'd love to learn how.

No clue what the issue is, but remember that the file names should NEVER be changed, otherwise they will not load.
Also are you sure you have the textures your're trying to load in
"plugin\hires_texture\THE LEGEND OF ZELDA"

by no limited to your edits, do you mean the v4 pack isn't loading properly?
what emu (and version) and video plugin (and version) are you using?

Is there a mirror for the pack? The download is taking 10 hours and the file is corrupted.

I provide the host for the pack and I just tested it. The pack is maxing out my buddy's connection and expects to be done in 22 mins. That seems fine to me.
