  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart

@Chaoszerox - Thanks for finding that missing overlay! Ya know, I had seen it in the dump folder and just thought it was any other rock texture. If you look at it, it just looks like cobblestones. So very surprising that it's used for the overlay. Almost makes me suspect that it's used elsewhere really AS rock, but I'll find out sooner or later :)

I'm with DD about the medium shadow. Looks great!

OK, larger screens. Some of these are close-ups of smaller textures, some are more "general feel" textures (since that's what people playing the game actually care about). Also, I went ahead and replaced the blue brick texture (sorry lewa)... this one has more detail, and adds more of a weathered appearance, but it does deviate from the original in the patterning (the original texture was square blocks, with each row staggered, while this is rectangular, and the rows are staggered a little differently). Anyway, now that we can see more detail, maybe I someone can suggest improvements (something beyond just "add more detail" would be appreciated).

orange= stuff that could use some work
yellow= stuff that could use a bit of tweaking
green = stuff I LOVE!

ROFL @ my color coding and :) face maddness
The bricks need to be more square shaped, not long rectanges. Other than that the colors say it all.

All of your textures look great guys... Uhm, how many adult link eyes are there? I got 4 done, but seems I cant get anymore dumped.

blinking and when he gets hurt eyes are the ones I finished...

Also how's the hair for adult link? Anyone working on that or has done that?

Keep up the good work =) Looking forward to see some more screenshots =)
I'm not sure on the total # of eye textures.
The hair has been done, but it could be better in my opinion

When you're done might you consider doing kid Link's eyes? :D

I like version2 better, but wanted opinions before moving on.

V1 (32X version): http://i977.photobucket.com/albums/a...reTemple16.jpg

V2 (64X version): http://i977.photobucket.com/albums/a...reTemple17.jpg

Sidenote: those pillars in the foreground are a WIP, but I'm liking them so far.
@Zeckron : V2 is awesome - this sharp non-melted look rocks (pun intended).

I went ahead and replaced the blue brick texture (sorry lewa)... this one has more detail, and adds more of a weathered appearance, but it does deviate from the original in the patterning (the original texture was square blocks, with each row staggered, while this is rectangular, and the rows are staggered a little differently).
@Chieftain459 : I like the blue stones much better than the previous version. And I don't mind if they're not squared anymore.

Maybe you could try a (very) slighly lighter blue, to be closer of the original color ?

The stones on the original look so nicely old and mis-adjusted…

hmmm.. im not sure the bricks are correct... the original is made up of irregularly cut rocks, while the new textures make them too cleanly cut.

I'm not trying to place blame here, but the bricks everyone keeps talking about weren't mine--that was lewa's work, and I've been trying not to mess with his stuff too much. But if everyone wants me to change it, then I will.

btw there are seven frames for the eyes and they are all in the current pack. i just thought you might like to know as then you can see which frames your missing

OK, try these bricks on for size:
http://i38.tinypic.com/mkc9v.jpg

Yes, they're still not as uneven as the originals, but I have 4 reasons for that:
1. Technical--it's very obvious that the original texture repeats itself, and I want to avoid that. The easiest way to do that is to have less unique-looking stones (so your eye doesn't notice that the exact same stone repeats 3 feet down the wall, then again 3 feet later, and so on).
2. Logical--these bricks support a 3-story column made entirely of stone. There's no way that a dry-rock wall (that's what the original is called) can do that.
3. Logical--in real life, stones never match up that cleanly--there's always a gap, and it doesn't look nearly as good.
4. I forgot what the fourth reason was... oh well.

Anyway, I really think this is about as worn-down as the wall should be, but I'll let others discuss the issue.

Also, I've got chaos saying that the blue bricks need to be square (like the orig.) and plim says he doesn't mind the rectangles. To be honest, I like the rectangles better, too... but I need a third vote (a tie-breaker, if you will). Also, I do plan to correct the color... I lost the original texture and was color matching to lewa's version, which has more dark detail in it--that's why the brick was darker. But I need to know whether or not to keep these bricks, so maybe Zeckron can offer up an opinion? Or death--droid?

Edit--also, I think that if we're going to use federelli's icons, we need to use all of them--his style is very different from ours, and right now, there are things that look very hodge-podge (like the boots in the equipment menu). Or, we could find a way to finish the ones that lewa started (or did he finish them?)

I like those new stones a lot lot lot more. And when it comes to the blue bricks, I like the rectangles but I think if you want to remain more faithful to the original they need to be a little more squared. Maybe not as dramatic as the original but more than they are now.

Also I like the textures a lot I think on some the embossing could be a little more translucent and I don't like how on some of the new textures the patterns are completely different.

Like http://i38.tinypic.com/mkc9v.jpg the panels above just have random crescents and circles and don't have the mystic style of the originals.

@TheDave--again, that was not my work, I'm trying to finish the work that someone else started, with out impacting his work too much. However, since you're not the first person to mention that, I guess I'll go ahead and rework that texture as well.

Again, anyone with that Link's house background? Or any of the static backgrounds? Would need these ASAP.

EDIT: VVVVV Thanks! I'm not usually so annoying with asking but I'm trying to do this at work. (Slow week for a graphic designer)

Hang on, I'm working on it.

Edit: this will take a while--there are 144 pieces to the texture for Link's house. I'm marking them now, I'll stitch them into one large piece and upload that when its done. I can't make any promises on how soon that will be, though. Not because I'm slacking, but Photoshop takes a while to work through this process for me.

Edit 2: lol, I'm at work, too... good thing I brought my laptop in today... its slow as sloth sh*t... I had one job come across my desk this morning--just a 2-color job that needed separations, had it done in 15 minutes, then sat and twiddled my thumbs for a while. So I'm glad to be able to do something. I hate boredom.

Edit 3: Textures marked. Loading in-game to note order. Had to take the time to switch to child Link b/c there's a cow in the middle of the room as an adult. Can't see textures. Will be another few minutes while I write down numbers.

Edit 4: Stitching... then I'll have to piece the top and bottom rows together by hand (couldn't see the numbers well enough in-game to get it automatically).
