What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

I think the one thing that was a little wonky with those original rug textures were the paths that were made on top of the basic "rug" texture were all straight lines or curves. A rug is never going to have actual straight lines, so your best bet is to take something like an opacity mask and randomly add little imperfections to the lines.

@mode fantastic! Only 1 question, do you have the original texture you used to make the natural rug border, from this texture/?

@D--D: my point is that since there isn't going to be a new pack for a while, it would be nice if the current pack could be fixed and re-uploaded so that the problem with duplicate textures doesn't persist.

@mode: Thanks!!! Greatly appreciated.

@Chieftain459 I cant really afford to upload another 736mb to fix such a simple problem. Sadly it will have to wait.(I'll through a notice below the download link)

Why don't you guys use github to host the project? You wouldn't need to upload all the files just for some simple changes and I think it would also make collaboration quite a bit easier...
As an added bonus, everybody could always download the latest state.
Here's a little introduction to git if you are interested.

@Motts for a project based around mainly images I would prefer to stay right away from DVC(Distributed Version Control systems).
It may be more work but I would prefer it to stay being managed by an Individual as It keeps quality control up.

I get your point death--droid. I think this github is a nice idea but this could really screw up the installed texture packs on peoples systems because there will be confusingly many versions of the pack.

@D--D, understood. A note on the first post should work fine, in theory. People always end up missing the important stuff, but there's no way to avoid that.

Oh yeah--my little holiday turned out great! I stayed with an old friend for a couple of days and just relaxed and enjoyed the scenery (and the weather! Beautiful days!). I'm looking forward to going out there again sometime next month.

death-droid: I understand your objections to git, but I just wanna say that in the xbmc-skinning scene many projects (which obviously are also mostly images, but with a bit xml added), also use github and it seems to work quite well... I don't know if git has an "approve changes" mechanism, but if it has it should allow you to keep quality control :)

But of course, feel free to choose yourself ;)

@chaos--you may find this helpful. Mode's rug texture is great as a template for making the Spirit Temple rugs, but, in my opinion, the base carpet texture is a little too neat/plush for the area. On that line, I found this site full of hi-res, great, free textures, which include some worn-out rug textures:

Rug textures are under "fine textiles," or something like that.

Sorry I haven't posted an update yet--the weekend got away from me, so I haven't finished any new textures. That doesn't mean I haven't started any, however--I've got a couple that I'm working on, but they need some fine-tuning. I may be able to finish them during the week, or I may unveil them next weekend, along with another texture or two. We'll see how it goes.
