What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

Howdy all... just fyi, I have been keeping up with stuff, I just haven't had much to say that someone else hadn't already said. Hooray for complacency.

Anywho, I guess (and I'm still not 100% on this) I'm going to start the Water Temple over again. If it's alright with the original contributors, I think I'll start from scratch--I think it'll be easier for me to do it that way, than to try to make multiple styles flow together. To be honest, though, there were a few base textures that I lost in the hard drive failure that I REALLY wish I still had access to. But, then again, I could end up with a much better result this time around.

I figure I'll be working at a much slower pace now--one or two complex textures each weekend, maybe a few simple ones (if there are any in this dungeon... I seem to recall 3 or 4 simple stone/sand/brick textures, the rest were like carved stone and crap). Anyway, I'm off to work, and I've got plans tonight, but I'll be home all day tomorrow--expect updates.

Edit--I have to install 1964 and 1964video again <sigh>... It took me so long to be happy with my setup before, and now I have to do it all over again. Crap.

Does anyone have the whole thing bundled in a way that they can just upload for me? I'm running Windows 7 x64 if that makes a difference.

Or maybe just post a link to the most recent versions of the stuff I need?

Not that I'm desperate or anything...

I'm just lazy...

@Chieftain459 glad to hear your going to start work again, I'm sure it would be fine for you to redo Water Temple over again since you had practically done everything before :)
Can't wait to see some new work from you!

Also i hope you are feeling better! :)

@Everyone.
Added mip mapping to Rice Video for DirectX just about to read up on it for OpenGL

EDIT:mad:Chieftain459 I'll upload a bundle in a minute just testing a couple of things.
EDIT2:

There you go :)

Last update of the pack was around november last year, the next pack will be coming out when another dungeon has being completed or I think there has being sufficient enough new textures.

To add some substance to the sun talk, I whipped up a quick look of how I think it should look. It's really just 3 layers, skinny rays, thick rays, and circle, blurred and masked out asymmetrically.

I also uploaded a transparent .png version if anyone wants to test it out in the game:

I give, you win, mind sharing exactly how you did it though? Might also want to finalize that one, make the rays a tiny bit shorter, the circle a little bit bigger, same problems I had with my first sun lol

Oh absolutely, I enjoy writing about this stuff, let's just hope it's coherent!

So there are three main parts to the graphic, the soft white sun circle, a layer of fat rays, and a layer of very skinny rays. Both are from a "Rising Sun" brush I used.

The soft white circle is two layers, a bottom, very very soft and less opacity airbrushed circle, and above it a smaller, slightly harder and higher opacity circle. So it sort of has a glow.

Now the rays weren't necessarily hard, but a lot of playing around with certain tools. They started off as hard-edged white lines. So first things first I hit up the Gaussian blur and softened them up a lot.

Now I wanted to break up the symmetry of the lines. To do this I added an opacity mask to the rays, and took an extremely soft, large black airbrush, and started going around the edges so it all faded out, then I would just come in on one side harder than the other to get rid of the symmetry. You may notice my thick rays are way heavier on the right side.

I did that with both sets of rays, but I tried to have the skinny rays be a little more prominent, so I didn't completely take them away from one side. I also made them a bit brighter than the thick rays, but I used a harder guasian blur on them.

So in a nutshell, it was just all of collection of playing with opacity masks, levels, and gaussian blurs.

Nice one Dave.

And Im fine with a water temple redo. Sounds awesome. Do it proud.

Hopefully gonna get back to retexturing in the next few days.

Edit: Ah the joys of posting with a phone. Nothing like a double post.

@death--droid: You're the man (I assume... or maybe the woman? I actually honestly have no idea).

@lewa: While I have the capacity, I avoid using my phone to post on forums for EXACTLY that reason.

Edit--death--droid, the download mirror link on the first post is dead/broken.

@Chieftain459 no problem, and I am a man :)
I'll remove the mirror download link since I have no way of contacting the guy who uploaded it.

Yeah, I'm using Windows 7 x64.

I do get an error--it happens as 1964's loading hires textures. The message says "g_pRender is NULL." So I click OK and 1964 closes out. No clue what any of that means (not a technical guy), but I do know that I used to be able to get everything to work on this machine with Windows 7 64-bit... I just don't remember exactly how.

I figured it out, I think. The problem isn't 1964, it's the texture pack. The program was getting hung up trying to load a texture because it was in the pack TWICE. In fact, there are a few textures that are duplicated:

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA#DB033A18#4#0_all.png
THE LEGEND OF ZELDA#0C2E0585#0#2_all.png
THE LEGEND OF ZELDA#3FB7A218#0#2_all.png <--this one is in there 4 times--twice as the original texture.

Once I got rid of the duplicates, I got everything running fine. But I definitely think that should be fixed in the pack, since I have done nothing to alter the pack after downloading it the day before yesterday.

@Chieftain459 it means 1964Video was unable to create the render, I did start getting that problem then it just seemed to of fixed up.

EDIT:
So duplicates was the problem, that's weird I'll have to remove them but I think I may of already done that for the new pack.
