What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

When submitting work for the Zelda OOT Community re-texture project you are agreeing to the following.

* The right to use your textures in the pack (duh).
* We as a community may keep the textures you submit in the texture pack as long as we may choose, possibly replacing them at a later date.
* To be nice and give muffins to poor people on tuesdays.

Good good.
Small update. Sorry if it's too many updates, I'm used to doing this in my other forums.

In part, I agree with Chieftain that if someone is working on a certain part/portion of the re-texture project (especially wip), it is good that he is informed or discuss thru' forum/irc before replacing it. Kind of respect for that person continual effort/work.

Just my 2cent

Keep up the good work!!!!

@Pokemaniacs we have no way of contacting him either way, he hadn't even visited the forums in ages. I didn't even know till mode7 posted it.

I agree. I think we should at least consult first. At least: "Hey I made these textures (which are kinda sorta better than yours, no offense), can we use this instead?"

@droid: Lol! Thanks. Not done yet :D It's the hookshot for the HUD/item select. But It can be used for other stuff too, hopefully is big enough.

Haha one think I like about this place is that we're all [strikeout]obsessed with computers[/strikeout] active members, and there's a lot of feedback.

Wow no strikeout. Even didn't work.

I would like all my work from the project removed--2 reasons:

1. I have no intentions of continuing my work, and have lost all the progress I have made on previous projects.
2. It's very apparent to me that even if I allowed my work to remain, it would simply be replaced within a short time anyway--I find that insulting in a way, and have no intention to allow my work to be replaced according to someone else's will, without ANY sort of head's up to the artist who spent MANY hours on it in the first place.

As a consequence of this request, the video of Zora's Domain will need to be removed as well--that retexture was my work.

This also means my name should be removed from the contributor's list.

As of the date of this posting, I consider the following work mine, and would like it removed by the release of the next pack:
Sun Song's Cave (in the Graveyard)
Dodongo's Cavern
Jabu Jabu's Belly
Zora's Domain
Zora's Fountain
Portions of Zora's River (though I can't remember what specifically I did, so I'll allow it to remain)
Since I never released texture files for the Water Temple, it should still be in the state it was left in by Lewa/Railroads.

Chieftain, I can understand you are angry. To a certain extend, but this is a problem between you and me. Don't let the texture pack get involved into this. Often great projects break apart because of such quarrels (Did I hear Kman aka Xenobound).
First of all: Did I scrap your textures and did some (It's only 3 or 4 textures anyway) of my own? Yes!

Was my intention replacing yours? Yes and No.
When you first released the Dodongo Cavern pack (your second release after the sun cave) it was some impressive work - for someone who just started doing textures. Looking at your latest releases we both know you've grown way beyond that. I think Dodongos cavern needs an overhaul but I also think, you should be the one who gets the first shot.

Why did I post the screens?
Well actually I'm working on the fire temple currently. Well compared to dodongos cavern the Fire Temple is not very nice to retexture. A bunch of yellowish redish rock textures and a lot of engravings and ornaments in there (which are a pain in the ass to do).
So my motiviation was quite down and I decided to do something else for a change - retexturing is fun for me so I did it for recreational purposes . Then I came up with this really nice texture for dodongo cavern and instantly wanted to share it, which I shouldn't have done probably.

Just to say it again: I'm not planning to redo Dodongos cavern nor replace your work

BUT

If you are not interested in overhauling the Dodongo Cavern, eventually someone will do it for you(and that might be me).
I can understand your point very well. I hurts seeing your work is no longer needed. But if would be a professional artist in a company (movies, games whatever) this would happen quite a lot.
In the end it's the quality of the product that counts.

On the other hand you're right.
No replacements until there's stuff out there thats not done yet!

So everyone, start your photoshop! Lets get this thing done!

PS: One thing on withdrawing your work. It's hard to do once it's out there. Kman tried to do it and his textures are still all over the place. Even worse: people are posting them and claiming it's their work (seen it quite alot).
My skies are being used in Zeths pack. After I complained he at least gives me credit (at least he said so).
So everyone: If you release something here, the same rules apply as for the rest of the internet: Be careful what you release, once it's out there, there's no way back.

Let me start by apologizing. I just lost a close relative, and have spent a lot of time drinking to cope (not the best move, but it helps in the short-term). As a consequence, I was VERY drunk when I started spouting crap yesterday (though you wouldn't know it from the grammar I used... maybe I should take up writing--I can drink and still make it work!). Anyway, between my post-death emotional state and the alcohol, I may have taken things a bit too far.

I'll admit I totally overreacted last night, but I do want to stress that my main point remains the same--I care far less about the fact that my work was redone, then the fact that there was no heads' up... all I would have asked for is a quick "btw, I'm redoing one of your textures, hope you don't mind." I wouldn't have--in fact, to be honest, I feel far more motivated to work on Dodongo now than I did the first time...

But still, I hope you guys can accept my apology for what happened last night (after which, I lost a crapload of sleep--I guess you guys have had quite an impact on my life, when I can't sleep after having an argument with you guys). I don't know if I can resume retexture work, lord knows I've tried.... but without any of my old files, it's hard to get motivated to start over from scratch. And with the constraints on my time, it's hard for me to do anything other than work, sleep, and (apparently) drink. Maybe I'll replace drinking with retexturing.

Anyway, I'm off to work, but I'll poke in this evening (hopefully sober) and see what's up.

PS--mode's right... if I had been thinking (difficult when drunk), I would have known that there's no easy way to remove something on the internet. That was stupid of me. As far as the "Terms of Submission," I suppose it works, but I suggest re-wording the first point to say that "Artwork submitted isn't permanent, and is subject to replacement by work of higher quality." So it sounds less like "we're going to replace your crap sooner or later, so deal with it." The other part, about keeping it however long, is fine by me.

I'm very sorry for your loss Chieftain459 its always awful when someone close to you die or even someone you only have met a few times it can still be quite demoralizing/saddening , you don't have to apologize either we(I) should of contacted you as soon as Mode7 posted some work on Dodongo's Cavern so you knew someone was replacing/working on the textures your made.

Hope you get back into retexturing as you are quite talented artist.

Also thank you for the suggestion for the terms of submission, I have updated it :).

No need to apologize mate, I feel for your loss and hope you feel better soon =]
Can't wait to see your new work on the Dodongo Cavern, bet it'll be better than modes work :p

Also good job on the hookshot lewa. I like frequent updates :D hate when ppl say they're working on something and never post any textures or screenshots

Sorry about life Chieftan. Glad you're back with us.
And yes, replacing drinking with art is definitely a good idea.

And yes, replacing drinking with art is definitely a good idea, i hope you do that. And starting over isnt as hard as you think, it does well to get ridda stuff you don't need, and give a fresh perspective.

I'm very sorry for you. This stuff can really bring you down. I know it's your buisiness but drinking can fix some things for a while, but in the end it'll make it worse.

anyway I think I owe you an apology too. And you got me thinking. I think I was a little obesessed with getting the best quality and stuff. I completely forgot that people are doing this for fun, as I said. And I have to learn to learn letting other people do stuff. when I started on working on the pack hardly anyone was working on it.
Fortunately this has changed.
