  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart

I always like to see a progress screen shots.
Shows that at least some progress is being done.

Anyway I'm going to ask a mod to clean this topic up a bit.

I'm not after a medal for every contribution I do, but I don't want little sh*ts giving me a rough time considering I'm doing this completely off my own back, for free, for the community, especially when said little sh*ts aren't contributing themselves. Sorry, but I've got better things to do with my time than to put up with that. It's not appreciation, it's not motivation, and its exactly the reason why this project isn't finished and falling apart at the seems.

You want progress? Dispense pats on the back and words of encouragement. Nothing makes a man work harder than knowing the work he's doing is appreciated. Demoralization doesn't help one bit.

Your attitude begets no praise, Nor will it from anyone that cares for the community politics involved. You want praise, stop bitching about everything, knuckle down and pump out some quality work, There and only then will you get a "Good work mate".

Also, about contributing. My eyes and ability to see the smallest of irregularities with in a texture/image are my contribution. Not all artists work with paint and brush. Its those who can see the smallest of details where those who do use paint and brush, do miss those details that go to making quality work. Two sides to the same coin, that in the end present the final, perfect image.

Anyway, im also here to collect HRT bugs in the pack that might be in Glide64 so they can be fixed, as well as document bugs in RiceVideo to add to a list of things i want to look into with the code.

Hm squall's suggestion might be workable. So say someone uploaded 10mb of stuff that would be the contents of 3.1 and so on... Then 4.0 would incorporate all of 3.1-3.9? And if you wanted to check something out you would just download that particular section in the FTP server or wherever it was hosted.

Bingo, makes it easier to address issues if they are found in the pack.

Anyway, im not going to ignore or block anyone, I want to see what enterthematrix has in store for us, I just have no interest in the GCN hud, everything else however is looking good and i want to see more from him.

Oh, i never said they were bad, i like them too :), He is just after the glory and recognition while the work is still being done, rather then waiting till its finished so people can get a full taste of the project.

The subscreens... really are nowhere near done.
Even the Profile screen where you create a game needs high res replacements. the Text itself is nearly done, just the button icons need looking at.

And guess who was working on the subscreens.
Ah, you see, he just can't help but be a little shit.

I quit, you guys are welcome to him.

Squall, good luck with, oh wait, what are you texturing? Nothing? Yeah, good luck with nothing. Your contributions are totally worth it. Totally worth it. It's not like I had an FTP that I could dedicate for your idea or anything. Oh wait, I did. That fucking sucks! Well, I guess its not like I was committing time to retexturing anything myself either. Oh wait, I was! That fucking sucks too!

Good luck to the rest of guys, you know who to blame when your project falls apart.

Well I think it's good for him to post his half-finished stuff, that way we can give suggestions before he finishes.

All right Zeckron and all, how does this stone look now?

Unfortunately, it won't let me use 256x256, so I used 128x128.
You can also see the handrail I made in the pic.

Oh, and here's the new courtyard brick:

I think death-droid is doing a great job of maintaining the project - would he like to work on something like this?

Your the only one bringing attitude here, and i've said i like your stuff, but Nobody is going to tolerate your shitty tude just because you make good textures.

Oh, and here's the new courtyard brick:

Can you hit the texture with a sharpen filter and then post a new screenshot, I'm feelin ground stone is sharp, and gritty and that texture just isn't giving me that feelin.

Here, you'll see what i mean with this

Ah... lewa, you should grab one of the v2.0 colour profiles, the profile your image editor is saving images with is making them far darker then they should be.

or maybe you are saving the shots in YUV/CMYK rather then RGB?

Lewa, the stones look great! Honestly i'm loving them! Good work :)

The rails with the small vines look good, kinda hard to see though in small screenshot. Stuff like that is hard b/c you've pretty much gotta make them from scratch. So I can imagine it took you awhile.

I agree with Squal about the stone floor. Looks a little too blurred, and as he suggested a quick sharpen may be all that's needed and that would definitely be a very easy fix.

Great work!

I'm not sure I understand what the issue is there. You mean anytime you try to load the texture in-game as 256X256 it won't load it and just defaults to the original? If so, something must be changing with the file specs when you're re-saving it. Perhaps photoshop is changing the DPI or pallette or something? It's may be bumping it up to a full 32bit color scheme, in which case that would be the issue.

As long as you keep the settings correct, you shouldn't have a problem. As experiment, I loaded a very small texture as 32X the original. Game had no issues with it.

Give it a shot.

Death--Droid, I like the way you're leading the project and the direction it's headed. You let anyone work on anything, whether it's already been done or not. Then give them the appropriate feedback when and where it's needed. Obviously you don't have time to write 3 full paragraphs for each person's work b/c you're so busy. And you shouldn't have to do that anyway.

Please continue to lead the project as you have been doing, b/c I think it works great.

Thanks.

hmm, i don't know whats with those screenshots, the colour looks different depending on whether you save and edit, copy paste, or view it in a different browser o_O.

must be a color space conversion thing?

hmm the main difference seems to be the screenshot is 24bit but firefox/ie save it as 32bit..... o_O

Fixed... it seems lewa's screenshots were having my system define the ICC instead of using an embedded one.

Well I still can't get anything larger than 128x128 to load. It's still indexed, the DPI is still the same.
Is it just my computer?
Here's the file that isn't loading (original was 32x32):
Zipped so you don't have to change filename

EDIT: I tried using the ci_by_png version as well, and that gave me the same problem. On a positive note, I'm glad I figured our that "ci_by_png" basically means I can make non-indexed versions of indexed images :D

Is this problem related to what emulator I'm using? This thread is in the 1964 forum, but I'm using Project64 (isn't everyone?).

Still nope.
I'm having issues with a lot of texture size limits, actually. For example, I just did some that worked 64x128 but not 128x256.

Lewa, check your version of Rice's plugin. If you have one of the older versions, that may be the issue. The old versions don't allow anything higher than 4X the original size. I had this issue when I was first starting.

My current version of Aristotle's Mudlord Rice Video plugin is 6.1.8

Since upgrading, I've had no issues with textures not loading.

I think I have 6.1.3. Thanks for the tip.
:stupid: I'll go look for the newest version.

And I'm stuck in the forest temple.

And I'm stuck in the forest temple.

Haha!! That's part of why it's my favorite! I've lost track of how many times I've played through OOT, but every single time I get stuck in the forest temple for awhile.

Love it!

 Yes, VERY, fun.

EDIT: Wow. Aristotle's 6.1.8 crashes oce it gets past the nintendo logo.

Dang Lewa, it's giving you hell!

If you'd like, I can forward you some screenshots of all of the configuration pages. I set mine up exactly how Death--Droid has his, and it's works beautifully for me.

Let me know if you'd want that.

One more thing I have noticed: for me personally, 90% of all the textures just need the _all version of the file, not necessary for me to include the _rgb version.

However, there are others that require BOTH for some reason. I have yet to figure this out. I'm sure there's a good reason, probably something I'm doing wrong. But until this is fully explained to me, I'm going to include both versions of each file.

Along those lines, I'm considering Lake Hylia and the Lakeside Laboratory complete. I'll release the beta version upload link and screenshots shortly (couple hours).

Before I release, if someone would like to explain the above issue to me then I'd be happy to correct whatever it is i'm doing wrong and release the pack with only 1 version of each texture. Otherwise, it's gonna be another big file :)
