  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart

Zelda Ocarina of time Community Retexture Project

this project isn't to make it more like the GC version, its to retexture with enhanced textures in the style of the original OoT

Squall, what the fuck is your problem?

When did I say it was a gamecube retexture? This is a community retexture project, I've been offering my help if anyone wants it, and yeah, I gave a cheat code which can optionally be used if anyone wants it to rearrange the layout.
Nobody other than you seems to really have a problem with it, in fact a few people have appreciated it because its something different.

I posted some photos of previous work I've done in the last community project (which happened to be TP themed) and I doubt I would be given any responsibility or retexturing parts without any previous examples of my work.

So back the fuck off.

Take a chill pill or something, it was error in communication, (or forum... since it was the forum that cut off half your post)

Btw, watch your language. Even the admins don't get away with using the F word here.

@enterthehatrix--Squall has a habit of speaking very bluntly (and rudely). I've just gotten used to it by now.

My point with the controller configurations was to offer the different arrangements so that they are available for people that want the screen to reflect the controller they are using. I know very well that different people use different controllers. That is entirely the point. I'm not sure what the big deal is with making the two alternate layouts, especially when one is already done. But if it's never going to get past coming up with excuses not to do it, then lets just drop it now.

Like I said (I think, maybe I didn't), I agree with Lewa that the in-game menu could use work--maybe you're interested?

PS--I'm in a horrible mood right now... so I'm sorry if I offend anyone (or everyone).

I'm taking a week (or more, depending on how things go) off. Family emergency means I'll be out of town and out of contact. I'm leaving this afternoon (my flight is at 20:15 forum time), so I'll keep up with things until I leave.

Anyway, I'll be back in the next week or so.

Chieftain, I can do it no problem, but I still don't know what layout you're referring to. If you can do a diagram of the layout you want to see on the screen I can do it to that specification.

I can do the in-game-menu no problem, but nobody has confirmed whether work is already being done on it.

Hope things go well with your situation Chieftain, sounds like you've got a lot on your plate. We'll keep the light on for ya.

Seems the project as a whole has stagmired a bit lately. Perhaps everyone is feeling a bit burned out. Or maybe it's just me feeling that way. But I'm still having fun, and that's the most important part. Things have really slowed down for me quite a bit since I'm having to learn photoshop, but honestly I'm wondering now how I could go on without it. It's just so dang incredible. And it's waaaaaaay too easy to make seamless tiling textures with it. I've churned out a couple that I'm very happy with for lake hylia/laboratory.

I'll upload some screenshots tonight. Just have 2 more to do until I can consider it *done*. They're the pillars in the lake with the Zora symbol.

Chieftain you mentioned doing the symbol itself in Illustrator and letting me finish off the texturing aspect of it, but it sounds like you're quite the busy guy lately. So I'll take a stab at them and see if I can get them to look right. I need to learn Illustrator anyways right? Good oportunity for that.

After Lake Hylia, unless Death--Droid objects, I'd really love to start tying up some loose ends, such as the Ice Cavern, Fairy Fountains, etc. I think I got burned out on doing characters after Link took a week to complete. Not really up for Gannon or Epona just yet.

Zeckron, thanks for the well wishes. I got started on that pillar drawing but didn't get too far with it--honestly, I've been working at a fever pitch to get ahead at work (so I don't have too much to do when I get back), and I just haven't had time for much else. Word of wisdom with Illustrator: I highly suggest using the pathfinder tools when you're working with complex shapes like the Zora emblem on the pillar. These tools allow you to cut one shape out of another, or add two shapes together, or a number of other options that involve combining and subtracting shapes. The tools can be found by opening the Pathfinder panel (Window>Pathfinder), and the icons help to demonstrate what each button does--play around with it a bit, and you'll get the hang of it in no time.

Enterthehatrix--I wish I had seen your post earlier so I could respond to it... I wish I still had my Xbox so I could plug the controller in and see what the buttons do, but I don't (sold it a while ago). If anyone could do that with an Xbox (or similar) controller, and map out which button goes where, that would be a good starting point--from there, it's just a matter of arranging the A,B and C buttons on screen to match (or closely mimic) the controller buttons (similar to how the GC buttons on-screen look like the controller buttons). If no one can do it, I'll see about working on it when I get back.

Wish I didn't have to leave at the last minute like this--I knew a while ago that I may have to go out of town, but I wasn't positive until last night... so, yeah.

I'll talk to ya'll later.

Chieftain you are the man! The pathfinder tools were exactly what I needed to get started.

This is just my first attempt, but i'm pretty excited about it:

Ignore everything that isn't the golden quest status screen, including the blue thing at the bottom. They're just random textures that were in the same folder and will be changed. You're looking at the Quest status screen exclusively. Opinions?

Yeah I've got to do all the icons to fit on it still, but I wanted a yay or nay before I continued any further.

There must be different IDs in Master Quest. I used a rename tool. The majority of the textures are loading great :)

but some of em aren't... :(

A teaser for the forest temple:

before -

after -

I probably won't do everything. Sorry about that. But when I;m done, most of the temple will look much much better. I tell ya - even a crappy hi-rez pic looks better than the good original. Not that I'm doing anything crappy, but [insert more ramblings here].

And I noticed some errors in the bow and hookshot. I'll fix em. Should I just release my "Inventory Icon" pack when I complete the game and have everything?

@Lewa: coming along nicely!

Just don't be afraid to bump up the "green" factor on the forest temple. The moss hanging from the top bricks in that pick really need to hang down on to the lower bricks in your version of it. Add about a 2X organic-ness to it (is that a word?) then add an extra 2X just to really bring the point home.

The sharpness and contrast compared to the original looks great! Just add in more detail and you'll be set.

Coming along nicely!

EDIT: Perhaps I'm too overly-critical since this is my fav dungeon. Overall though, you've got the right idea!

Ok good job Lewa.
Buut some things need changing like the dirt that you changed to gray needs to be a browny color and as Zeckron said don't be afraid to bump up the "green" factor on the forest temple.
