Just 2 random questions?
1. Whats the difference between OoT and Master quest?
2. Whats URA Mean?
Thx thx

I'd say MQ felt hard at first, but then it was very easy (for me:D ).
But I have one question:
If I have a Zelda OoT 1.0 ROM and have a Gold Zelda OoT 1.1 Gamepak, is it legal or not to have this ROM image?

I know my question is off-topic, you don't have to reply if you don't want too.

Not legal. To be really technical, you can only legally posses rom dumps that you made directly from roms you own. You can only have one copy of this rom dump, and both copies can never be in use at once. They are also "tied" togther, and you cannot sell or give away one without the other.

But....who gives a crap? If you own the game, you own the game. If you are interested in emulation, do you need more moral justification?

?????????????????????????
Has anyone given a thought to why nintendo actually would want a rom of the game?
Are they compiling the source on a computer and dumping it onto a cd or cart?
Are they using an emulator to test it on a pc?
Are they using an emulator on the CD?

I dunno...

It's been the conclusion of many, including I believe those who actually released the ROM, the Nintendo made Master Quest for the Nintendo64 and THEN ported it to the GCN. Makes sense to me. The ROM that was leaked was a final copy of the N64 version before GCN Porting began.

I think even the .nfo that came along with the ROM suggests this.

If you are asking why Nintendo would want a ROM instead of having it only on a cart....are you kidding? They work on computers! Plus, they would want to save a copy for archival purposes, and surely they wouldn't want that archival copy on a cart (Just like we don't, Nintendo! :p) So the correct answer, IMO (I CAN be wrong, I am human...mostly...) would be:

"Are they compiling the source on a computer and dumping it onto a cd or cart?"
in addition to:
They are keeping an archival copy of the final compiled binary.

No, it's not from Zelda:WW (or I didn't notice it), but I think Nintendo change it because it look very similar to Turkey's flag, plus more flag's (Note: I notice Turkey's flag was very similar at first, when I was hacking at the Alias Underground game (it's very easy to hack the AI files)).

To compare for your self (and see more flag's) goto this site

hmmmmmmmmm...........

i was just wondering about the wonder of the missing ending :p
anyways, we could (if the ending in oot is the exact same) compare the two roms. if we know which part of the rom holds the ending, and its there on the mq rom, then its something to do with the emu. I think that nintendo changed the rom, which was then leaked.

In doing so, they might reorder the rom so it is not in native n64 format, but still similar that you can still play it on emu. when the ending sequence was showed, it referred to a noexistent place (where the ending should have been, but isn't since nintendo moved it).

OR the mq rom was simply compiled differently to fit a lot more data in the same catridge space. *Therefore* there should be a section in the rom which tells the n64 where to find things, however, since this has never been experienced before, our current emu's can't handle it.

OR the GC simply uncompiles the rom prior to emulation using script similar routines. therefore the memory address would point to a different part of the rom when the ending came up.

what do you think guys 'n' gals? logical?

logical, i think so... we shouldnt be expecting this rom to work like other roms. Its leaked, thanks to some double agent deep inside Nintendo (Many thanks!).

What I think: The Master Quest is also part of the Regular Quest on the Gamecube. Because only the doungoens are different, the game take some parts from the same spot on the memory. Because this part of the game is so large, and didnt have any changes, they dicided to do this for the ending. Then, someone leaked the master quest to us, but it only has the parts that were in the master quest to begin with. The ending is so large that they told it to take it from the regualr quest on the same disc. Again, the only purpose of this rom is to experience the doungoens a second time, and differently. If you get to the end, its not any different (well, i dunno, working on finding that out on Gamecube), just the same ending! The different dungoens should be reward enough, and remeber, this isnt even supossed to be here, given its a Gamecube rom!

FYI, Master Quest and Ocarina of Time are exactly the same from the point you enter the tower (the part with the stairs going up to Ganondorf.)

Yes it's worth playing, same story, new and harder dungeons (but most of them are easy for me:D ), plus no working ending.
