What are those things actually like?

The movie player has excellent quality. I didn't think it'd be that good actually. You can play NES roms, music, movies, and more. And they add features with each firmware update (some small things, like bookmarking your e-books, or updating the emulation function, to allow 256k NES roms)

9.5/10 for this neat device ;)

I make no promises. I see some ba$tard has WarioWare Touch though. Still waiting for Feel the Magic to arrive along with the replacement HDD for the XBox... meanwhile I have a USB2 external HDD enclosure and 2 old 40GB drives to back stuff up onto.
Finally a quick and decent backup solution for me! :)

(Mine is silver - and the blue LED light is incredibly bright.)

Anyone else treated themselves recently? I want photos dammit! ;)

How about PSP - anyone picked up one of those bad boys?

Apart from the... shall we say questionable build quality of those things and the general scratch-friendliness of the screen, does it have a single game worth owning yet..? ;)
Seriously, anyone considering a PSP - take all that money, get yourself a DS or a mod-friendly XBox, and enjoy games worth playing and a good deal more besides. Just wait until Chankast hits the XBox too, then you have access to SNES, N64, Amiga (ALL HAIL!), Megadrive/Genesis, Gameboy/GBA, Playstation, MAME, Spectrum, DC and a whole other long list of the best games ever . I actually built a PC out of old parts the other day *specifically* to be able to rip my own Dreamcast games (with the CD-drive trick).
(Queue the inevitable shouts of "You CANNOT rip DC games with a CD drive etc etc!" - you can. :p)

Slightly off topic, but are trying to fit an upgraded HD to your xbox or are you trying to replace the stock HD? If it's the stock HD and the xbox doesn't boot your screwed unless you've already got the eep backed up (You will need to fit a modchip to get the box to boot from an unlocked drive and without the eep you can't lock the drive). You probably know this already of course but I felt I should mention it.

If you're intending to upgrade (Then I can only assume it's softmodded, as if it was TSoP flashed there would be no problem) then

on Topic the DS does look very sexy but i've been bitten wth imports before so I think I shall wait for the uk release. The PSP isn't worth a wank as my old daddy used to say.

If N release Zelda:OOT or MM I will of course buy one immediatly. Even if I have to sell a testicle to get it.

Now that is a hardcore gamer.
Offtopic; I replaced the HDD with a 120GB one this very evening. The whole process proved rather painless even with no modchip.
I had the new drive up and running within half an hour using xboxhdm, and am not only shocked at the speed difference but that it worked and is pretty quiet too. The other two partitions from my stock (softmodded) XBox with all my applications and settings etc were restored to the new drive within an hour, the F: partition of 100 or so GB created in a few seconds, and now I'm going through the process of copying every single damn game I own to it. So long KOTOR/Burnout 3 load times! :p

I still have to wonder how well Zelda: The Ocarina of Time could work on the DS, simply because so much of the game is the scale of it. Hyrule field... hmm, could the DS work with that large an area? Would long-distance targeting in game even be workable at that resolution..?
Still... I did have the odd idea about the microphone being used to `whistle` the Ocarina tunes via pitch recognition. Or just reproduce anything you voice in ocarina tones.
Four Swords on the other hand... now that has potential.

Finally completed Wario Ware today (well, from what I can understand anyway). It really is the sort of game that the DS was designed for. Not one of the many games on WWT uses the buttons. They only use the stylus or the mic. Awesome. Importers - buy it now!

I ought to get around to doing that to my one at some point. It's always seemed like far too much effort though.
