Well, for myself, I'm not really fighting a brand war, per say, but when someone constantly makes assumptions and then claims them as fact, when they can not possibly know if what they are saying is true or not, just to bash a console I'm very interested in, forgive me if I give my feeling on the subject. I've read through the pages of this thread as well as the others, and have seen so much PS3 bashing, I just wanted to get my two cents in.

I see. You can dish it out, but can't take it, right? There's entire pages in this thread where all you did was bash the PS3, and now you can't stand someone bashing your toy?

What I'm writing is that you state that you do not take sides, but you do. I don't like bashing of a console without proper arguments. You dislike Revolution because you're a die-hard sony fanboy who belies graphics, power and traditional controllers are the way to go. Basically, don't invent anything new. I don't take that as a valid argument.

You know I think I'm going to play FF8 on my PS2.. just too see if it does work (LOL). I only tried FF7 and I found my FF8 game card sitting there... looking all lonely and such. (cough)

To be honest one of the big selling points of the PS2 wasn't the next gen games. People wanted to be able to play there old gen games. If I get a PS3 I will want to be able to play Xenosaga etc. on it. More importantly I would like better portability of data. I did not like the feature of the PS2 that required old PS1 game data carts (lame). The PS2 used another proprietary system as well. Finaly Sony clued in that it was wasting money and uses the (proprietary but more widely available) memstick.

I don't particularly Like Sony (in fact I hate them along with Microsoft) I'm unbiased toward nintendo. I bought a PS2 for one reason, I wanted my old games and FFX to play on it.

What drives consoles is NOT how cool the technology, it is
1) they work
2) they work as specified
3) they have software that can be used with them
4) people can save there game state without it being a pain

4 was and IS my biggest pet peave with the PS2 ..
developer wise the PS2 is a Royal PITA (Pain In The A<be creative> to work with. This is why Sony had the Linux PS2 developer kit available. Why? Because they were trying to get more developers for the PS2 (that's how bad things were) The PS3? I have not heard anything good or bad for it in terms of developement. The titles thus far aren't my cup of tea that are available for it either. So for me it's a Wait and See game.


So there Jury is still out if it will be a good or bad system. It would be nice if the firmware to there consoles were updateable to enhance compatibility after sale, however I don't know the details and I've been ignoring the next gen consoles pretty much myself. I find some of the ideas Sony used on the PS2 .. too political in thinking and not useful in thinking. Too much encryption and control (that's Sony for you) Sony went for. Well anyhow bottom line is none of the consoles being offered, are why I buy something, I buy something because I can use it. The console is a vehical for me to get there. IF I can't use it, I don't buy it. I don't care how cool it's video output might be, if I have no use for it, it's useless and therefore not something I'll buy.

So let the ... whatever wars continue, but ummm I hope there is something out there I can find a use for.

Here's the thing: it won't get what I want. Franchises like Final Fantasy and MGS won't make their way on to it. And why? Because Nintendo thinks only 9 year olds play games. I let go of Nintendo around the time of puberty, for the simple fact that the games didn't grow up with me.

And you don't KNOW if it will get the things you want or not. And the question was: what IF it would get all the good games? What if in the future there was but one console which had a controller like Revolution's?

Well, it is their fault. There are plenty of Nintendoish games to be found on PS2, as well as those for older gamers. Variety is key.

While it's sarcastic, what I have said ARE facts. The library for adult games on ANY Nintendo console is very limited at best. Not trying to toss out flame bait, but have you seen Doom's posts throughout this entire thread? It's all PS3 bashing. In my opinion (as well as many other gamers) graphics aren't everything, but they do play a big role in a decision when buying a new console. If they didn't matter, people would still be playing 2-D side scrollers. Fact is, as technology advances, console manufacturers need to utilize it. Wii in so many way looks like last gen (not just graphically, mind you) that many people (myself included) have absolutely no interest in even giving it a chance. I've seen previews, read reviews, "done my research". And it all adds up to the same thing: Nintendo dropped the ball again.

Mind you that Sony obligated all PS3 games to be 3d, stating that 2d games are not on par with next gen, ppl want to releaseém and wasnt to play´em but Sony believe to know what´s best for you.

In the end of the day it is your opinion against the others, if a maturte game suit you best, OK, just do not assume that it si the same for every body, once again, a good measure of things can be done with the DS vs PSP war, when the DS, underpowered as the Wii is, cleaned the floor with PSP face, at least on the handheld market, gamers want fun, not bells and whistles.

Well, alot of people do agree with me as a matter of fact. We can have those same family oriented game on a console that also includes the more mature games in it's library as well. With Nintendo, it seems the latter is pretty hard to find.

- Call of Duty 3
- Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2
- Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
- Red Steel
- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
- Trauma Center: Second Opinion

Also, already one with M classification:

- Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent

This is a sizable proportion of the launch line-up.
