Come to think of it, Half-Life is the best value game purchase i've ever made, they deserve their £20 and then some.
Another game that fits into this catgeory:
Starcraft.....VERY hard to play on original battle.net without getting an original Cd key (and I wouldnt try to much without original cdkey as i've eard that they log quite a lot of your system information??? .....you CAN play on other servers (as you can with half life) but they suck to say the least....
Blizzard has done very well against anti pirating by offering a hard-to-hack online solution....and most of their games is worth buying just for that. I can say that Starcraft is the best buy I have ever made, worth the 20$
