What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

Welcome back eh, Djipi? And Anchel: What`s the matter with you? I never said that he would leave this project, i said that he WON`T leave tis project. Get a grip! And he is back now, so on to business...

Sorry, I missanderstood what you said at first. I thought you were mentioning something like Djipi not coming back. Don't forget English is not my primary language, I'm from Spain, so I'm subject to making translation mistakes :p
Sorry man, didn't mean to turn against you or anything

So Djipi what have you gotton done recently? I'm very much looking forward to your next release (^_^)!

You could help with that evening sky...Then it won't be as bad to ask about the progress (just go to the Chankast forum and ask about progress and see the reception one gets from that). Just at least try a hand at this retexturing thing.

Yes, I have tried my hand at the evening sky as well. Though, after hours, I didn't do to well.

It might be interesting to note, on those working with the sky; for me, editing the orange sky will also affect the night sky. Even though Rice's plugin dumps the image as a colored image, the game somehow referrenced it as a color-indexed image. In example, coloring an evening sky texture with a letter and number (such as A6) causes the night sky to have that same letter and number.

Well I've tried countless times to dump stuff and all I've gotton is randon junk.

Someone told me that you have to disable the texture look at what you want pause the game and then dump the textures... the only thing is I have no idea how to disable the textures. Is there any tutorials you know of?

Googol

Give me back my floppy face!
^^ It's in the PLUGIN. There's a checkbox saying "Dump textures to file", or whatever. Uncheck it until you find the area/texture you want, then check it... wha-la! Dumped textures related to that area. And since it dumps all the textures you can see, it might seem like there's a lot of junk. You just sort through it, though. And that's about all the tutorial I can give you. Bye!

Yeah I knew that part but isn't there a way to dumt "specific" textures?

Unfortunately, I don't think ROM textures are organized in neat little folders like: "characters/link/head/ear.gif" or "hyruleworld/outdoors/sky/nightsky/skyA1.gif" and you can just choose them from an explorer type program...
When you dump it, your going to have to sort this out yourself. I already explained how to get textures from an area, as did Googol, that's about as easy as you can make it. Its not impossible from that point.

what you need to do is draw a number on each texture, and then save them to the hi rez folder for that game. Then boot up your rom and then you will be able to sort everything out.

Yes, I had been doing a version of that myself. Perhaps a more ignorant way of doing it: just dump all the textures, draw a bunch of names for the textures (A1-Z9 if needed), then look in game at where they lie, and then work by retexturing them by using these letter-numbers as a reference (doing them one by one of course so you don't get lost).

I will have to take a look at that debug version.

You have to keep track of them as its dumped. For example, when I'm working on my Goemon Pack I usually dump them level by level. Then I go into the png_by_rgb_a folder, put the truck loads of effects into its own little folder (usually a few thousand files per level), sort the png_by_rgb_a folder by last modified (then you get the newest ones down the bottom, then I copy the ones I want to edit into the main dump folder, edit them and then I make a copy of the now edited file and paste it into the high res folder for testing. This method works fairly well for the game and for organization.

AFIAK the plugin can't be programmed to sort it for you because there is no way for the plugin to know what is what; to it the pictures just come as they are loaded then saved into the folder by the type of picture =/.
