What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart

I was wondering.... and this would be possible in both texture packs (Fed's and Djipi's) that the backgrounds in the Hyrule Market, Link's house, other people's houses, etc are prerendered textures, aren't they? I mean, they are textures in the end so they would definitely be able to be changed, right?

I suppose those ones must be extremely difficult to retexture because of the high detail in them (not to talk about making them look cell-shaded).

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but finally changing the blurry market place into a crisp looking one would be the best improvements in both retexture packs

hmm, i dont want to be held on this but i might try remodeling those scenes (thinkin about just the market place to start with) and then applying some of Djipis textures for continuity, so it all fits in...if I get the model done, and its ok with him?

I can only assume it would all be made of a bunch of textures, layered. Which is a pain in the ass. But good luck, man.

How does this look to everyone? I am playing with filters I can throw on the giant pre-rendered backgrounds to make them fit better:

Yeah all I used was Photoshop's cutout filter. I even cut the image in half and did each half because it's really killing a lot of details. Still checking out other methods.

Ok here a few comments to all this stuff:

Djipi, you're doing great work, and some parts really look like Wind Waker. Awesome!!

But: I don't like the weapon icons; and The Dave's background pic doesn't fit into the game, sorry.

Dijipi, your work is very impressive and I am actually more excited about it than Federelli's project - you're not just fine-tuning the textures of OoT, you're redefining them! I love Wind Waker's style, and it's great to see OoT redesigned in the Wind Waker style that is faithful. The editing of fire and dust is also a brilliant idea and looks great.

Any chance of you tackling the sky next? I can imagine it would be a big undertaking, but would also be a great motivator seeing it on screen, no?

BTW, is it possible to edit Link at all? Dodongo looks great!

And The Dave. although you've made the render look interesting the door is hardly recognisable and the walls and roofs melt into each other. I suspect each render would have to be drawn over? Do the renders consist of one 'texture'?

BTW, forgot to mention that I think using the (official?) ilustrations for the Weapons and items icons is a great idea (Wind Waker did it) and heightens the authentic look - good job. :)

The renders that are at a fixed angle (that shot, temple of time exterior, most shops) are a single texture. From what I can find they are going to look best if completely drawn by hand.

Well, it certainly doesn't look as blurry when you use this filter in Photshop, but it still would need some tweaks. However I'm not good enough at this so I couldn't change it all unless I first learned a bit about picture editing :p
But do you think something like this would be ok? I mean, following this example...
And by the way, the door isn't almost noticeable because the door isn't in the texture, it's a 3D component placed there, just as The Dave's background

Codexing: That looks better than the the first one, but like The Dave says, it would look best redrawn. Thank goodness there aren't that many!

And great job on the font, Digipi.

I don't think it would be that difficult to redraw it if you try to make it wind waker style.
But doing it as realistic as possible could prove quite a challenge.
My attempt was going for neither, just checking how I could improve it xd

If you're just going to use filters for the background pics you should try some painting filters...

This was just a quick one click of the previous pic posted.
