  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
    We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
    Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

    If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
    Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
    If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
    RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

AI Upscaled Texture Legality?

Hey guys,

I recently got bored and created a Glide texture pack for Conker's Bad Fur Day using an AI image upscaler. I would love to share it, but I don't know what the legality of image manipulation like this is. Anyone happen to know about this? Can I safely distribute these images based directly off the original textures, or could it be argued that the images still fall under any original copyright and could therefore put me in hot water? Google doesn't seem to be a lot of help here...

Hi Nikachu, The comparisant shots are great. Any chance of some more screenshots of the project?
And yes, we have a dedicated section for all N64 Completed Projects & Work in Progress (WIP)
Also what is the AI image upscaler software you are using?

The textures are made from Rices code and are not actually ripped from the rom but from what the video plugin sees on screen.
As Gent says, Yes, but with a little input on my behalf.
Essentially this is nothing more than recording a gameplay video or snapshots of it. The images are made from an open source code that has and can be tracked to it's birth containing 0% data from illegal code. The code was built from scratch under the GPL. It only looks like something... a very close imitation of something. In fact, the imitation far surpasses the original artifact.

Well... If it's safe, then I'll just leave this here as well as place it in the completed projects section :)

BFD AI Upscale

I used this upscaler. Not terribly great for textures that need to retain their grittiness, but otherwise seems to work quite well. I've also started messing with a pack for DK64, but who knows if I'll ever get around to finishing it...
