What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

@turpinator:
I admire your idealism, but it really depends. Every company has a different aproach on Fan Projects. Lucasfilm e.g. is really generous.
I don't know how nintendos aproach is. The problem is that you kind of have to break the law to run the texture pack. And another thing is that now they release a remake this project could be seen as a rivaling product. On the other hand the pack itself is not altering the programm code and does contain mostly original content. So they can't really do much.

None of that really matters much because this is still kind of an underground project. But it may stir a lot more publicity once its don - at least I hope so :)

And once it's done it'll pretty much be viral. This is my point, because community projects can have so many members contributing to it, there's a level of anonymity.

Don't do anything that can affect their business. Don't take their work and claim as yours. Give explicit full credits to them. More important, don't make money out of it. And even more important, don't keep them from making money out of their work.

Reality is, if it doesn't affect their business, they don't care.
Maybe it's even good: free propaganda. :)

Agree.
That said, the fact that people can run the game in hi-res using the pack on pc (free) means potential lost of customers == affect their business.

Comparing to the number paying, 100% legally playing Nintendo gamers, no one uses the hi-res packs, and nor does it ever effect their business.
Nintendo OFFICIALLY dos NOT support the N64 or it's games that we make h-res packs of. Their own site tells you they don't do repairs, and to look for used games/systems at used game retailers.
I know they offer OoT on the Wii via download now, but it's still an ancient game they're making no profit off of.
Does anyone know what is the native resolution the game runs on?
extremely low
"The Nintendo 64 has a maximum color depth of 16.8 million colors[28] (32,768 on-screen) and can display resolutions of 256 × 224, 320 × 240 and 640 × 480 pixels"

Guys stop going off topic, this topic is no for the discussion of the possible legal implications of using copyrighted material.
If you want to discuss about the legal implications don't do it in this topic. If you really want to all it will do is lesson the chance of me setting a date for the release of the current pack.

Sorry, I guess I got into the discussion as well. I'm glad to hear that the pack will be released soon though. i'm not sure if I asked this before but will the V5 Pack have everything up to date like the other stages, items, and other stuff that were completed in V4 pack? Or will the people have to scam around the pages looking for what they want?

I see that there are some duplicate pictures in the pack, for example:
THE LEGEND OF ZELDA#198DD849#0#2_all.png
THE LEGEND OF ZELDA#72CA60DD#0#2_all.png

Is there a reason for those duplicate files?
When I dumped, I could only find one of them.

This was stated several times in previous pages back that it is just a simple organization error and will be fixed with the new patch release.

Oh, sorry about that. I thought that it was to support many versions of the game that could have slight diferences between the images.

@Turpinator Fak means a different duplicate thing not the problem with texutres being duplicated with the exact same name.:p
@Fak I will look into the multiple images, but for all I know they could be a dump from different versions of the Zelda OOT rom so I would rather not remove any until I can verify that there not used at all.

@Everyone if i remember I will upload the pack on the 31st GMT+10. So anything that you want in the pack must be uploaded by then. Of course you have to make sure I remember that date.

Ah, THAT duplicate image thing. I came across that alot. Usually the duplicates are separated between cutscenes and young and adult link for whatever reason. (the last reason being why it is taking me longer than normal to finish the menus)

A good example I noticed indirectly is the Master Swords' guard. That thing has at least four doubles. One for the pedestal as young link, one for when young link pulls it out in the cutscene, one for adult link, and finally one for when adult link stabs the sword back into the pedestal again. For anyone looking to fix the texture gap for that, that's the dump locations for them. I'm not sure if there are more than that though, because there could very well be.

@death--droid By "I will upload the pack on the 31st GMT+10", do you mean it will be uploaded on July 31st? I'm not sure what that GMT kind of stuff means, sorry
