What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

The nice thing is, I'm smart enough to keep ALL my .psd files this time, so I can improve them later.

I've just been following this thread to see how things are coming along and everything looks great. I love all the new textures it really adds another element back to Zelda for me (haven't played it since childhood years.)

Is there an ETA on when v5 will be released with all these great new textures?

death--droid kind of does it every few months. Don't know how long it's been since, check the first post. Kinda depends on how much work gets done. It's a task, zipping the whole thing and uploading it.

@Lewa brilliant work there!
@Jamrock990 V5 probably won't come out till another dungeon is completed or I feel there is sufficient enough work completed.

Hey, chaoszerox, the problem with the sun is your graphic is too perfect and streaky and it just looks like a vector element more than an actual sun.

You shouldn't really be able to see the lines of the rays, nor should it be symmetrical.

What program did you make it in, illustrator or photoshop? I think you should try taking some random anchors and extending them and then maybe, to make the game's style, apply some hard blurs.
1. It's a colorless texture, the only thing that matters is 1 thing, the opacity of the pixels of the textures
2. It's not suppose to look like a realistic sun

I use photoshop (good at it) and illustrator (learning it)
I might be able to do something....

A+ work lewa! keep going!

Thanks :)

2. It's not suppose to look like a realistic sun

I don't want to argue here, but aren't we going for as much realism as possible? (While still sticking to the original style...)

I guess you're right. Just depends how much creative liberty you're willing to take.

Is it just me, or is the texture scaling (in any of the plugins) not very good? Or is this just the anistropic filters I might not have turned on?

Yes they are photos.
@dcs78 There good but they just well look like photo's and in my opinion don't match the style of the game, of course I'll test them before passing judgement. Just need to remember to test them.
Also the first two look a bit dodgy, kind of looks like you've ripped them out of something.
Anyhow good work none the less.

The bottles and arrows are from photos. The Letter is my creation. I do on occassion spend the time to do it myself. It's comprised of border art and Zelda symbols along with Ancient Hylian font.

I've not tested the bottles ingame, I think they maybe too big to scale down properly.

lewa: I like the slingshot a lot!
dcs: nice to see you're back. Great work.

The only problem is that lewa and dcs have a different stile - how will this fit together?

to the sun discussion: I had done the sun texture at the very beginning. Just never implented it. It was a color keyed version of a real suns image. Perhaps i can find it...

Im pretty much sticking to the inventory icons, so dcs can do the random items and it hopefully wont clash too much.

@dd: The red tips are supposed to be cloth? Never looked like it to me. Not a problem, just want to be sure.
Yeah the string needs more roundness. I'll do that soon.

Moving, so gonna be busy the next few days.

@chaoszerox - I'm definitely not saying OoT is going for a photo-realistic look. It definitely bases it's art style in realism though.

All that aside though, the original sun graphic looks passable as real, yours comes off as an illustration more than anything. The problem is because all the rays are so symmetrical and uniform. I think you will get awesome results if you just make the rays asymmetrical.

Better? Did some more shading overall.

Starting on the Kokiri sword. Should I go with the blocky style here, or make it rounded?

Also starting on the crystal power things. Not as good looking as I'd hoped, but at least it's a lot better than before:

And also, if someone could post a dump of the inventory stuff, that'd be awesome. For young and adult link. Don't have to sort through it, just do a dump with a completed game. Or maybe there's somewhere I can find the game save state...

yeah. i need to finish off the textures and fix tiling issues, then do the rest of the textures.

@lewa: those textures are really good. i think that on the kokiri sword the red thing is meant to be some kind of gem

@Lewa the slingshot is better but I still think the red things need to be made into something clothy as it just doesn't seem right at the moment.
Nice start on the Kokiri Sword just one thing is that the red in the middle I'm pretty sure is meant to be a ruby.
Nice power crystal, tho it needs to be more into a diamond shape rather then a kite shape also needs to look more glassy.
Great work Lewa, I'm just really picky :)

@Steftheserb that is starting to look really really nice.

Keep up the good/amazing work everyone!!!

@dd: I'm pickier :D I critisize pixel-sized details as a hobby.

And your pickiness keeps up the quality, and a level of congruity.
