What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

Hey guys, just a suggestion. All of this shop talk should probably be done via pm. Leave the posts for updates. You'll get more visits to your thread if there is news on the pack instead of all of the conversation between contributors.

Lake Hylia / Lakeside Laboratory Beta Release

Allrighty, give it a shot: http://www.mediafire.com/file/mnmloqvmy5n/Lake Hylia.zip

Comments welcome.

Note: one file in the original V3 master pack *must* be replaced. It's THE LEGEND OF ZELDA#5B4B5783#0#2_rgb, which is the grass-to-lake bottom transition tile. I spoke of this already several pages back, but the original one in the pack is incorrect. It would mean the lake bottom would have to be solid rock, rather than sand/mud. Please delete old version, replace with new in the beta pack.

Pack's pretty big b/c most are 16X but a few are 32X original size.

Here's a few highlights:

^not me.

That looks stinking awesome. Stinking.

That Hylian post/pole is amazing.

A suggestion or so:
I think that wood (in the middle pic) should look a bit worn, or maybe even slightly rotted, since it's above water.

I can finally do really highQ textures now, so hopefully I'll post some of those soon :D However, with the new plugin OOT freezes after about 5 minutes...

Haha! Nice pic Lewa, pretty funny. I needed a laugh :)

Also thanks for the kind comments greatly appreciated!

About the wood, I agree with you 100%. How about this?

Also, your new texture around the floor in the forest temple looks sweet! That pattern, although made of stone, really looks 'organic' in a way. Which keeps theme very well with the forest temple. I love it!

Zeckron, on second look, those stone pillars seem to clean... i mean,.. they are meant to be ancient right? so they should look a little more worn down.

.....too bad rice video still has lod issues which makes textures appear blurrier then they are meant to :(

Very good job Zeckron, there are few things i don't like tho.
1.The wood textures that the other people pointed out
2.The brick textures in the laboratory clearly show there tiled and look low res.

Gotcha Death--Droid. How about the worn down version of the wood for which i gave a screenshot? Think that will work?

About the bricks, I gotcha there. I'll make a new one and shoot a screenshot (I'm working now, so will have to be later today).

Squal about the pillars, I actually kinda agree with you there. However, the same pillars appear in the Zora's Fountain but are much much noticeably worn down and cracked looking. Chieftain and I had talked about making the ones in lake hylia very clean (as the originals show no signs of weathering) and make the ones in Zora's Fountain worn, weathered, and cracked. But I still dig what you mean.

If death--droid says to bust em up a little I will, but it will be a little hairy b/c the texture is actually mirrored half way down the middle. So any weathering or cracking I do on one side will be mirrored exactly the same on the other. It can be done, but will be difficult to look right.

Yes, the wood looks better now. Still seems to stick out oddly, though... EDIT: I guess that's just OOT's bad lighting. Not much you can doa bout that :p

(playing oot) LOL. I love how the Deku Sprout comes outta nowhere and scares the crap out of you.
Been a while since I played this game. Forgot a lot of stuff. Which is very good ^^

Death--Droid, try these. If the wood still doesn't fit, please be specific. If needed, I'll scrap it and get a new one from scratch, but again I'll need specifics as to what you're looking for.

I think the brick looks very good. A little bumpmapping or something would really make it pop, though. Same problem with the wood - looks a tad flat. More shading maybe? A higherQ wood texture would look good, too.

Of course, your work is quite good. If it were me, I'd leave it just how it is and be proud. But if you still want suggestions, please see above :D

Thanks Lewa. Yeah on this 2nd revision i lowered the contrast, saturation, and softened it a bit. And I agree I think it looks too flat, but I thought the original problem was that it was too sharp so that's the direction I was going.

Death--Droid, is that what you mean? Was the 1st revision too flat? B/c on that one I really jacked up the contrast and lowered the saturation. So I think I'm confused

Haha yeah. I think you know what you need to do to make it look better. Just keep fiddling with it till you're satisfied with it.
