Oh, and here`s an even cooler Quake mod, called Tenebrae. The screenshot would speak for itself.

yes, that is one sweet quake mod, only 4 MB in size, and it makes quake look almost as good as doom3.

i get horrible performance with that mod for some reason, even though i should be getting ~30fps i get about 5, and yes i checked my desktop res

You should check if the game itself doesn`t run at 16bpp. Anyway, except from the polygon count, it looks like a brand new game.
