south park chefs luv shack
works as long as you use the Jabo 1.4 audio plugin, nothing else will run for me.
In the main game there are minor gfx errors in that the questions are not highlighted but as long as you have the speakers on you hear a sound when you move so it is playable no problem.
I played with no crashes but the some of the mini games gfx are screwed

Hey Smiff,
It was me who reported problem in DK mine level. Did you check the savestate I uploaded to ftp?
As I said in other thread, for me this level only works using interpreter. Recompiler gives gfx error (screenshot in other thread)

Hi Smiff, in Mia Hamm Soccer 64 i touch anything, i can see the game donīt pass the intro pic(i guess this is why the browser say video doesnīt start or not?). But i paused with the emu any times, i can see the pic of the company, how could be? Repeat , only when the emu are paused i can see.

I found something interesting with the new rdb
There's an error in the rom browser:
"pocket monster stadium (J) [!] - region issue - use other rom version"
Is impossible to use another version of that rom because that game was released in japan only.
There are little sounds issues in these games:
Super Mario 64 (J) [!] Missing some speech (Peach's voice at the intro for example)
Mario KArt 64 (J) [!] [1.1] The music in the menus miss some instruments
Automatic configuration error
Dobutstu no mori (J) [!] this game needs internal trasformation for have a readable text and menus. In automatic mode the plug-in set external trasformation.
Hope that helps :)

Pokemon Stadium US/Eur are the equivalents of Pokemon Stadium 2 Japan. The first game was never translated.

Before anyone gets all giggly, it's not easy getting this game going, and most of it looks terrible. You have to use the 1.2 video plugin, but you must start the game with external transforms, and switch to internal only after the race starts. It sounds strange, but that's the pattern to get it working. That being the case, the status of XG2 won't change, but I thought it was interesting that the game will run with graphics.:p

J&Z just got on with dev on their machines, I was worrying about others.. we couldnt say anything about V4/5 since none of us had one or cared enough (no offense, its just not very important how well it works on a card made by a company that no longer exists and not many people have or will buy). second point, i disagree that it looks better than either a Radeon or a GeForce.. what are you trying to show in that pic?
Ogy
February 23rd, 2002, 23:13
here's a movie w/ QuakeII i had to limit it in size and in quality because of the size limit, i hope you can see it's not flickering.
maybe it's a driver problem because some people said they do not get flickering in some games that's supposed to have some.
BTW golden nugget 64 fails even on interpreter 4 me after a while, and mario64 - normal blending is probably just my knackered system

J League Live (J) is listed as uncertain
Works in interpreter mode with either 3d6 1.2/1.4.
Due to the dog slow speed probably recommend running the game in 1.3. Seems to be reading a lot of controller as well, takes ages to move arounf.
If you run the game with recompiler then the camera jumps around like crazy, suspect it is a PJ64 issue as it seems to run okay in 1964

ok mat if you're going to do that (which is fine) you should change the Good Name field - that of course isn't the right good name for that ROM (if it even has a good name?), this is important so you don't confuse people. for example, the CRC for that ROM (Diddy Kong Racing (U) (V1.0) [!]) is 53D440E7-7519B011-C:45

Hey Smiff, I have something to report about Donkey Kong 64 (U) [!].
CF = 3 (your setting) makes the game run faster, but it's not the best setting, since Donkey's barrel game isn't playable and some exits aren't accessible.
CF = 4 solves all these problem (even if the game will run worse) while CF = 6 set the barrels ( in barrel game) to have the maximum range.
I suggest to run DK with CF = 3 then, when needed, save the game, change the ini, exit and relaunch PJ64.
Also, "protect memory" seems to work better than "check mem. & cache" but playing the minecart level PJ64 will report an access violation in the graphic plugin.

I don't know whether the latest rdb file is more compatible or not, but I felt that it was slow. I used it to play Fushigi no Dungeon - Furai no Shiren 2 (J), it's over 50% slow down.

Eveyone does relise that the RDB is just a text file with individual game settings right? The latesed RDB isn't slow, the settings for that game may be wrong, but I wouldn't be suprised if Smiff hasn't even touched the settings for "Fushigi no Dungeon - Furai no Shiren 2 (J)"

Smiff did change the setting of RDRAM size= 8. But the game is 50% slow down and still Freeze on some screen.

Just a quick note regarding Super Mario 64 (J), I think they never recorded Peach's speech in the first place. I think that NOA just decided to record that in the English version. Reason being, I crossed checked all of this using the original as well as the Shindou (Rumble pack) edition, and I also used 1964 to check both of them, and none of them played any speech.

If you've played Super Mario 64, ROM or on the real N64, you'll notice that Peach actually talks in the intro scene. In the Japanese version however there is no speech at all. I'm pretty sure that's just how it is, rather than an emulation bug...but I don't have the real Japanese version of it so I can't be 100% sure.

acually Super Mario 64 Shindou edition (J) has recorded speech at the first start of the game when peach reads her Dear Mario letter. (its in English too).
as far as i know the original (J) version should as well but i was only able to test it on the rumble edition.
so you are very wrong dude. you better check your roms.

speaking of Mario64,
whats wrong with the sound in the Shindou Edition (J)?
it dosent sound near as chrisp as it does in the (U) version.
the sound is softer and not as loud in the highs.
(i also confirmed it with my EQ lead).
can anyone test this out on a real n64 system?

Smiff, here is a small list of points that need CF = 4.
1) The intro of the game
2) Donkey's barrel game in "Jungle Japes" level (with CF = 3 the barrels haven't enough range; with CF = 6 they are set to their maximum)
3) Donkey's attemp to free the Llama (uhm, it sounds familiar..) playing the barrel game in "Angry Aztec" level (with CF = 3 Donkey cannot even reach the first barrel).
4) Tiny's entrance to this temple (I added a screenshot) in "Angry Aztec" level (only a few times).
I'll add more points to the list as I find them proceeding in the game.
About the states you need... I'm sorry Smiff, but, as long as I have problems with my S-L-O-W connection, I won't be able to upload any of them.

hey ContraCelsum: i can confirm those things.. although i had some problems with the jungle japes barrel game; i can't pass the 3rd one.. maybe i must use another plugin with my controller.. but the rest is the same.. i've tested them all and yes cf=4 works at these points.

just a few problems with all newer rdb's:
- with F-zero in windows mode i get 60 fps, whereas in full screen mode it drop dramatically at 30-35 fps ( 60 fps in full screen with rdb standard)
- forcing transparencies in all games make weird things happen , for example RR4 ( tranparent mountains)
- generally, all games run slower, maybe for compatibility target
- Mario Tennis and RR64: 20 fps in window mode, 60 fps in fullscreen ( 60fps always with standard rdb)
- CBFD freeze at "for mature audiences only" screen
- Sin and Punishment : graphics messed up ( sprites duplicates, like Resident Evil)
I have met many other problems with these rdb's, but i think these are enough to check them out at the moment
At least, DK64 works without cheating from the start, if a tad slower than my customized rdb version.....

I havent touched Fzero, except to change SMCM for J vers to prevent crash.... you are wrong here.
- forcing transparencies in all games make weird things happen , for example RR4 ( tranparent mountains)
You mean Normal Blending, yeah it's meant to do that, thats why its off by default, what's it got to do with the RDB anyway?
- generally, all games run slower, maybe for compatibility target
I don't have any global controls... you are wrong here.
- Mario Tennis and RR64: 20 fps in window mode, 60 fps in fullscreen ( 60fps always with standard rdb)
Again, it's nothing to do with the RDB.. there is nothing I could set that effects fullscreen and not windowed.
- CBFD freeze at "for mature audiences only" screen
Think this is another game that I haven't touched.
- Sin and Punishment : graphics messed up ( sprites duplicates, like Resident Evil)

Mario no Photopie
I've been doing some research, and I think this may not be a game at all. There were two Mario Artist "games" released in Japan, Paint Studio and Talent Studio, both for the 64DD. The Talent Studio shipped with a special cartridge with ports built in for the capturing of images to use in the "game". I have a sneaking suspicion Mario no Photopie is the rom of this cartridge, assuming it had a rom in it. I figure it's possible the cartridge would play a small piece of music in a loop while flashing a message on the screen telling the user to insert one of the Mario Artist disks into the 64DD.
IGN has reviews here (http://ign64.ign.com/articles/160/160085p1.html) and here (http://ign64.ign.com/articles/151/151908p1.html) for the Mario Artist games, and here is a pic of the cartridge in question.

IGN has reviews here (http://ign64.ign.com/articles/160/160085p1.html) and here (http://ign64.ign.com/articles/151/151908p1.html) for the Mario Artist games, and here is a pic of the cartridge in question.

hey smiff, ISS2000 (U) has various freezes.
sometimes matches won't start properly, that means black screen, and sometimes the emulation just stops and it will bring you back to the desktop without any error message.
1964 hasn't got these probs, although i'm using the same plugins.

Smiff a guy named CloverHol stopped by in our chan and here is whay he had to say about the rdb after he asked some stuff about that beta cheats file:
[22:07] <CloverHol> Yeah I got the update and it screwed up some of my favorite games
[22:07] <Slougi|Aw> huh?
[22:07] <Slougi|Aw> it shouldn't do that
[22:07] <CloverHol> It did
[22:07] <Slougi|Aw> which games?
[22:08] <Slougi|Aw> and what did it do?
[22:08] <CloverHol> I have WWF No Mercy and it was working fine except for some graphic errors in the menu and when i got the rdb update it wouldnt work at all
[22:08] <CloverHol> It said it was broken
[22:08] <Slougi|Aw> hmm
[22:08] <Gent|Chts> Use 1.30 GFX plugin
[22:08] <Slougi|Aw> well u can always replace it with the old one

[22:09] <Gent|Chts> Well i dont have that problem ?
[22:09] <Slougi|Aw> neither do i

Slougi, the guy clearly doesn't know what he's talking about because I haven't touched that game, also you edited out an important part about status "Broken" - some people think this field actually affects how the game works or doesn't work... there's not much I can do about people who don't read the manual really.

the game is on the hdd, and if i use the latest rdb's the probs occur more often...but you can' t really say that it is one or two big probs, they just come and next time they won't. sometimes you can play 4 hours without any trouble, and on other days you can't even complete one single match.

Hey all,
Thought I would share a problem with you, maybe you can help:
Mario Party (U), seems to work reasonably fine so far, apart from one mini game that crashes it!!: Mario Bandstand..
For some reason, it crashes as soon as the game is about to start.
I dont think I've put much info in this, so whatever you need to know, just ask!

there is a file included that covers most of the changes, but not between beta versions, that would be too tedious.

Actually, this problem with the Mario Bandstand mini-game is deriving from Jabo's 1.4, not PJ 1.4 itself. It works with Jabo's 1.3. So you have the choice of playing the whole game with the famous flickering or have almost compatible gameplay with excellent graphics. Not the best of choices...

Aerofighters Assault

Perfect Dark

Please do not remove these for more compatibility, at least not goldeneye, perfect dark and turok 3, they are great games

But I can run Turok 3 and Beetle Adventure Racing without any slowdowns or any probs at all. I have a PIII 866 with a 32 meg TNT 2 video card. So hopefully that helps you decide whether or not to remove the high sys req note from the RDB...

pj64 is just not good at GE, try another emu, like 1964.
PD on the other hand requires extremely high sys req (well, over 1Ghz).
even though the note says high sys req, the requirements vary from game to game. it just tells u what to expect.

???you see smiff, this (http://www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4041) happens to other people as well, i also talked to some people on IRC and it happened to them too. even if it does not happen to you i strongly recommend setting it to 2.(this setting doesn't have a problem with anyone)

Except for the level 4 lock-up, and random lock-ups elsewhere.
I was able to recreate this problem by using Azimer's latest plugin, but that's probably not the issue as most people (I believe) are using Jabo's. Sorry Ogy, but this has me totally buggered.???

A little experiment for you Ogy. If you have (or can get) Space Station Silicon Valley (E), see if it runs for you. Not just the intro, but into the first level (the intro is quite long). The same person you referenced (http://www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4041) as having problems with Turok is having identical problems (http://www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4148) with SSSV, another game that runs fine for me.

hmm... I didn't know about those, sorry i guess smiff has two options:
1. set CF to 1 by default and write about the CF 2 story in the PJgameFAQ.
2.set CF to 2 by default and write about the CF 1 story in the PJgameFAQ.
which one of them it'll be, is not for me to decide...

yes, lets see,... vat are ze key elementz in zis experimintation?
vi hav ze rom... in ze emu... viz the video broken... not goot.. i see problem...
ok, enough, lets get serious...
ok, SSV (E) does not work at all with jabo's for me, i don't even get to the intro, unless...... unless he meant the logo intro.. the one with TAKE2 and dmv. and not the game story...(the one that's funny like hell) because the take 2 logo i do get with the (E) .

you'll have to decide that one yourself smiff (see above)

Ok, now we know it's system related. You (Ogy), and at least one other can't run SSSV or Turok (on CF=1), whereas they both run fine for me.
Now we need to find the common denominator(s) between systems having these problems.

ok i've updated the 1.4 RDB in line with the one that went out with 1.5b1. so not very relevant ('cos you're all using 1.5b1 right) but needed doing)
