who plays it?

And when you betatest, if you're doing it to be able to "play games", then you're doing it for the wrong reasions. All of us as testers understand that the reason we do it is to help the developers with giving compatibility from one build version to another, that way they know what's been fixed, and what been broken (meaning used to work, but doesn't anymore). This helps them find bugs, and at many times we try to help them with using debuggers, or logging operations as a game is running, etc.... ;)

speed is currently the least of our problems as i said in an earlier thread, emulation is not ment to replace the actual gameplay, eventhough i do find it more fun to play games windowed and at super high res but emulation is mostly for games that are out of print and almost impossible to buy, even still, nintendo hates emulation and they probably had anti-emulation in mind when developing the gamecube

I don't think nintendo really did too much to stop emulation. To stop copying yes, but not so much emulation. I mean they themselves made a snes and nes emulator for the GC. So I mean they arn't entirely against it (not that they really meant to release the emulator). Although I'm sure they'd perfer it to not work untill after they stop selling the console and games.

did nintendo make a SNES emulator and nes emulator for the PC? because i read an article saying that playing nintendo games on an unauthorized platform like a PC is illegal, even so, they are not going to go sue someone for downloading old out of print games like NES, SNES, N64, or gameboy, they are not losing any money, and to send someone out to find and catch someone using roms would be like spending unnececary money, but those big rom and iso distributers might get shut down

Although I know not for sure, who was it that made uhle shut down? Nintendo does not like emulation is like a way that it is piracy. Of course they can make an emulator themselves to play a game on the cube bought legally!

Thats true. Nintendo never liked emulation, But its too late to stop it now. There are too many sources. It would mean putting 1/10 of the population in jail. I think Nintendo is starting to accept the truth that emulation cannot be stopped thats why they made revolution a virtual reality console: to make it impossible to emulate for some time.

I agree with doomulation, there is no emulation conspiracy around the revolution (or is there?). It's just that nintendo is too stupid to conceive an idea that complicated :p

The conclusion: There are people that stupid! U see? Those are made to scare emu and rom makers. The only juice they have was when they stopped the development of UltraHLE. The only victory. Just use ur heads... How long has 1964 and PJ64 been around? During that time they became impossibly famous. Why don't they stop them? They can't.

People Making Nintendo Emulators and Nintendo ROMs are Helping Publishers by Making Old Games Available that are No Longer Being Sold by the Copyright Owner. This Does Not Hurt Anyone and Allows Gamers to Play Old Favorites. What's the Problem?

The problem is that it's illegal. Copyrights and trademarks of games are corporate assets. If these vintage titles are available far and wide, it undermines the value of this intellectual property and adversely affects the right owner. In addition, the assumption that the games involved are vintage or nostalgia games is incorrect. Nintendo is famous for bringing back to life its popular characters for its newer systems, for example, Mario and Donkey Kong have enjoyed their adventures on all Nintendo platforms, going from coin-op machines to our latest hardware platforms. As a copyright owner, and creator of such famous characters, only Nintendo has the right to benefit from such valuable assets.
Although I cannot agree with nintendo on this, all I find is that nintendo is very firm on not liking emulation "to play illegally games."
It doesn't mean they dislike emulation in general.
Plus, on the revolution keynote, Iwata also stated a reason why the DS has two screens and why they've also ported several old games to GBA.
Nintendo is "all about the games," as they say. They are not afraid to go the ways other companies does not dare. It seems to me that nintendo is trying to bring back retro gamers. Not that they're afraid of emulators.

Indeed, and that's why nintendo despises emulation found in the scene. Thankfully, there are those like us who use the emulators for fun and not for piracy.
